I would be fine with that too. It’s like soccer you move into

this was my original position early on albeit only briefly because I quickly realised each team already had NINE tries the traditional way.

so if they're hell-bent for leather to do it in extra innings, may as well start it immediately in the 10th frame

I would prefer they leave extra innings to be played like the first nine but all things considered, there are a helluva lot worse things they could do to end a game quicker.
I mean, they could start the 10th with bases loaded and a 3-0 count. or they could use aluminum bats and tennis balls (or golf balls) in extras lol

yeah but the NFL have 4 quarters to win the game too so they go a 5th to try it again then if they fail it is a tie. or another quarter if it is the playoffs, wo what do you do with the NFL in OT? start each team on the 1 yard line and whoever stops someone first wins? or go to a field goal kicking duel starting from the 10 yard line and they keep going back 10 yards and whoever misses the kick first loses lol. imagine how much kickers would be worth in the NFL if they did that. this is the ghost runner problem it is all about luck on having a fast runner on base at the time as your ghost. that is why it is a crap shoot. you could have Billy Hamilton or albert pujols LOL

it is a unearned run out of luck. and the pitcher pitches different in thinking that way too with whoever is your ghost runner.

don't get me started on football OT, there just isn't a good way to have a fair and equitable football OT, pro or college. basketball and baseball on the other hand, OT is/was in a good place afaic

When they first started the man in second thing I had a thought. I didn’t like it but if they were going to do it I’d like it if were 10th man in first, 11th man on second, 12th and beyond man on 3rd until someone wins.

Just seems like there is a loud minority arguing for some sort of historical compliance with rules that were made in 1903 lol It always loses me.
How often do you see 7 hour games? You lost all of us with that fictitious scenario.

Why do people like you take it upon yourselves to speak for others the average of an mlb fan is in the 50’s.

This would also help stop the BP from getting worn down as the season goes on. Those 7 inning DHs weren’t as bad as I thought they’d be.

I mean, if they can't get back to wrapping up the game in 2 and a half hours, why not.

I saw studies where women rated how long they think sex should last, and it wasn't that long. If sex can go too long, so can baseball. Doesn't mean it still isn't awesome and I'm not ready for more the next day, just not for 3 hours.

If they don’t have the DH in exhibition mode that will be the deciding factor to skip the game this year. I only play exhibition games and RTTS. Unfortunately I don’t have time for franchise and even if I did I find it to be boring. Exhibition games are how I spend most of my time on the game.

The game’s rules haven’t changed in a very long time.

It’s the television timeouts, the batter stepping out of the box and adjusting his gloves, jock strap, getting a signal from 3rd base, looking at his bat label, glancing into the sky and then stepping back in and digging in. The catcher then gets the opportunity to look at how the batter is setup in the box and calls the pitch.

It’s still 27 outs to complete a nine inning game. It’s all the extras that take place during the game. I watched some older games on MLB network the past couple of months. There was a sense of urgency back then, as it should be.

That’s what needs to be fixed.

Agreed, if you watch the old major league games, they moved at a much quicker pace.

They HAVE rules on the books already. NO ONE WILL ENFORCE THEM.
