I didn't play 21 long enough to see if they ever patched the issues with ballplayer equipment settings messing up when you changed gear at all, but it seems like if you go into add equipment on ballplayer for diamond dynasty, it reverts everything to the default of one batting glove, one sleeve, one wrist guard if you put it on, glasses always, and things like that.

They aren't perfect, but I would say the rosters are the best they've ever been. I'm going to do work cleaning them up, but if you aren't super picky you could easily start a franchise with what they have.
Hope its okay to post a video I made. Here are the top 50 prospects in game.

Unless you’re a cubs fan. No Seiya Suzuki. Yea he’s in the player vault but it won’t feel right to me not using the SDS one. I’m picky I know.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
-- Pitch repertoires seem much better. Seeing more pitchers with circle changes, slurves, and different primary pitches.
-- The 3D, team-specifc presentation overlays are awesome
-- The Braves 2021 World Series banner can be seen in right field at Truist
-- The fan cams that pop up between innings are a really cool touch
-- Some of the statcast figures are fun to see. Spin rate, pitch break, etc.
-- I've seen some new no-doubt home run animations and they look great. Had an awesome no doubter with Eddie Rosario that looked very well done ( https://twitter.com/i/status/1509801783899701257 )Last edited by GR5Noles; 04-01-2022, 02:58 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
Very brief initial impressions from just 5 inning of play…….
-Gameplay is so damn good (as usual)
-Graphics are largely the same but framerate is a lot better
-Sounds of baseball are vastly improved and make the ambiance of a game a lot more realistic
-new commentary is the biggest single improvement to the overall feel of The Show that I can remember in a long time, it was much needed and they freaking nailed it

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
So i played a full game. Mets vs nationals. Love it so much. The presentation is superb. The commentary is a breath of fresh air. No more dead spots. No more over lapping in talking. Gameplay always thought it was great. Love now there three different hitting. Timing zone and directional. Happy timing got its only thing like the old days. The new zone anchor hitting is interesting. I kinda dont get it so till i figure it out, i will stay on timing. No disrespect to anyone but idk how they say this game isn’t gorgeous. Maybe its my eyes but the game look good on ps5. Happy there is a roster update already. So Freddie is on lad. U do though have to add pujos to cardinals. Luckily there a guy who got cut, so that was an easy swap. Disappointed that the 25 man fix from years past isn’t there. U can’t go straight into regular season in franchise mode. U have to go thru spring training cut the people then start. Love the new google stat. I know people are upset with the no buck s. But shoot to get all the coaches but one i feel that was good. I didn’t see if 1st base or 3rd base or hitting or pitching was real. I just look at the managers.Comment

Though, even as a Giants fan, I gotta admit that an "A" potential for Bart is a bit generous at this point.MLB: San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics (Sell The Damn Team, Fisher!)

MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
Played a quick game, got in 5 innings.
Playing on PS5, Blue Jays (user) vs Padres (CPU) legend/legend difficulty
Right off the bat, the first thing I notice is the improved presentation. The commentary makes a WORLD Of a difference. The game feels more alive than it has in years.
Graphics do seem improved. They’ve tuned player faces, stadiums and everything is to really give it that next gen shine. Could they be improved even more? Yes, for sure; but, these graphics are wonderful.
The sound of the ball hitting the bat and the gloves, the way the fans react to big plays, commentary seamlessly stitched in regards to what’s happening on the field is absolutely what this series has needed
Gameplay has been improved from 21. The ball physics have been tuned and improved once again. I’ve seen the ball make hops on the infield I hadn’t seen at all in 21. The new defensive animations are also a thing to behold. They add quite a bit to the realism that was sorely needed.
One thing I’ve noticed that I really like is the AI swings at pitches outside the zone now. Get ahead in the count, throw a ball outside and the AI will swing. This is a huge turnaround from previous titles where the AI seemingly refused to swing at balls outside the zone.
These are just my minor observations as I wait for the servers to come back online so I can jump into DD. So far, more than good! Loving this game

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
Diving for balls in the infield and outfield are so much better this year. They are more fluidI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
A far more detailed impression and review is forth coming. But in the meantime some hot take bullet points to share after playing for about 3 hours last night....HOF default Directional/Classic/Auto Field/Manual button (no throwing meter)/Totally Clean Screen
1. Welcome back old friend.......freaking welcome back.
2. Hitting is absolutely feeling amazing again after my personal debacle that was MLB 21. It honestly feels like I have a bat in my hand again and the perfect/perfect sweet spot sound is back to it’s glorious self.
3. 3D audio on the Sony Headphones is something to behold. The job the audio team did this year on the game is nothing short of astonishing. Crowd swells, park ambience feels as real as it ever has in the history of this game. It is night and day from previous versions.....we are talking Next Gen level stuff.
4. The smoothness of the game on a great 4K tv/monitor is a game changer. This is a stark improvement from 21....yes it is. This is not the same game..this is not 21.5
5. The presentation and play by play and color is simply awesome. I feel like I am hanging out with Boog and Chris at the ball park with a transistor radio and ear bud in one ear and my other ear hearing the sights, sounds and magic of being at these cathedrals we call ball parks. SDS absolutely went next level with presentation and immersion. As someone who is going to play all 162.....it can not be overstated enough that this is a massive franchise mode UPGRADE.....and I tried out the PS4 version.....and yes it also plays a very good game.....but if you have the 3D headphones....it is next level playing the PS5 for the audio alone. But also the animations, lighting, shadows, and overall feel of gameplay feels genuinely more organic and truly next gen on the 5.
6. I noticed a nice balance on check swings last night. I had a 50/50 ratio of strikes and balls in the limited time. I had played 1.5 games and it felt a lot more balanced and “fair” than the debacle of MLB 21. Also noticed right away hit variety is back.
7. The defense.....lol.....new world. A new world. Now you also have to fear guys who have bazooka’s in the OF. Know who you are playing before trying to stretch singles or doubles.
I am not looking for negatives right now.....all I am doing is playing games...lot’s of games as I start looking to tune and tweak the sliders to customize this brilliant game of baseball to my style. There are some small gripes.....but we will summarize all the good and bad when I write up a formal review/impression to share.
But one thing is for certain.......My wife and son simply blindsided me last night with this gift....I had zero intention of purchasing MLB 22. I only watched the presentation stream and nothing else. I had zero.....I mean zero expectations coming into this as again.....before 4PM yesterday I was not even thinking about MLB 22 being in my console.
I am so glad that it is everyone.
The Show is back after a one cycle hiatus.......it is truly back on the diamond and I feel if your playing it on the PS5/X you are experiencing a true next gen baseball game.
I have put in well over 500-600 hours (I have lost count) on MLB 20 (and BTW we are still going to continue playing that GOAT baseball game make no mistake and reasons for that will be in our final review) but MLB 22 is a very worthy game......and dare I say potentially the best “playing” Show ever made once I dial in my sweet spot.
More impressions to come in the final review.
Welcome back Old Friend......welcome back.Last edited by Armor and Sword; 04-01-2022, 08:02 AM.Now Playing on PS5:

Re: MLB The Show 22 - (PS5/Xbox Series X|S) Impressions
Many people have already mentioned the commentary, so improved. The first thing I noticed though was the fielding. Fielders actually take time to throw the ball and aren’t moving at superhuman speeds. Already seeing a lot more infield singles and double plays broken up, it’s such a breath of fresh air. For the past 8 years (since I got a PS4) double plays for both me and the cpu have been at like a 95% clip. It’s been one of my biggest gripes with the game for a long time, so glad they finally fixed it.Comment
