    1. Welcome back old friend.......freaking welcome back.

    2. Hitting is absolutely feeling amazing again after my personal debacle that was MLB 21. It honestly feels like I have a bat in my hand again and the perfect/perfect sweet spot sound is back to it’s glorious self.

    3. 3D audio on the Sony Headphones is something to behold. The job the audio team did this year on the game is nothing short of astonishing. Crowd swells, park ambience feels as real as it ever has in the history of this game. It is night and day from previous versions.....we are talking Next Gen level stuff.

    4. The smoothness of the game on a great 4K tv/monitor is a game changer. This is a stark improvement from 21....yes it is. This is not the same game..this is not 21.5

    5. The presentation and play by play and color is simply awesome. I feel like I am hanging out with Boog and Chris at the ball park with a transistor radio and ear bud in one ear and my other ear hearing the sights, sounds and magic of being at these cathedrals we call ball parks. SDS absolutely went next level with presentation and immersion. As someone who is going to play all 162.....it can not be overstated enough that this is a massive franchise mode UPGRADE.....and I tried out the PS4 version.....and yes it also plays a very good game.....but if you have the 3D headphones....it is next level playing the PS5 for the audio alone. But also the animations, lighting, shadows, and overall feel of gameplay feels genuinely more organic and truly next gen on the 5.

    6. I noticed a nice balance on check swings last night. I had a 50/50 ratio of strikes and balls in the limited time. I had played 1.5 games and it felt a lot more balanced and “fair” than the debacle of MLB 21. Also noticed right away hit variety is back.

    7. The defense.....lol.....new world. A new world. Now you also have to fear guys who have bazooka’s in the OF. Know who you are playing before trying to stretch singles or doubles.

I am not looking for negatives right now.....all I am doing is playing games...lot’s of games as I start looking to tune and tweak the sliders to customize this brilliant game of baseball to my style. There are some small gripes.....but we will summarize all the good and bad when I write up a formal review/impression to share.

But one thing is for certain.......My wife and son simply blindsided me last night with this gift....I had zero intention of purchasing MLB 22. I only watched the presentation stream and nothing else. I had zero.....I mean zero expectations coming into this as again.....before 4PM yesterday I was not even thinking about MLB 22 being in my console.

I am so glad that it is everyone.

The Show is back after a one cycle hiatus.......it is truly back on the diamond and I feel if your playing it on the PS5/X you are experiencing a true next gen baseball game.

I have put in well over 500-600 hours (I have lost count) on MLB 20 (and BTW we are still going to continue playing that GOAT baseball game make no mistake and reasons for that will be in our final review) but MLB 22 is a very worthy game......and dare I say potentially the best “playing” Show ever made once I dial in my sweet spot.

More impressions to come in the final review.

    Welcome back Old Friend......welcome back.

Will there be a new slider thread on the horizon?

So I’m not crazy. Bryson Stott does look heavy and not slim like he should.

I played a game with the Phillies last night and, so far, that was my only complaint.

Elite outfielders are robbing more home runs now.

Not having Nike catching gear does take away from the game! Very disappointed!

Another minor observation; Average outfielders are finally playing to their skills.

No more running down would be doubles in the gap , no more ridiculous Willie Mays style over the shoulder catches from just any outfielder. Defensive ratings really matter this year and it’s so refreshing to see

One game played thus far on the PS5, and I can already tell that 22 is going to be one that I spend a lot of time with.

The new commentary is so refreshing. My wife even commented on the difference from previous games and noted that this felt more like watching a real MLB broadcast.

There's some nice new presentation elements in here as well. The pitch sequence in particular was a standout for me.

I didn't spend a ton of time with 21, but one of my biggest issues was that hitting (directional) just felt off compared with the last several years. Again, extremely small sample size, but 22 feels like an improvement here and I'm thankful for that.

I use Auto fielding/Manual throw, and everything looked and felt smooth in that regard.

Can't wait to dive back in and play more later today and over the weekend.

Probably will just be posting things as I see them to start here. Need a bigger sample size before I actually give my opinion on the game.

That being said, kudos to SDS for fixing Am Fam Field (Miller Park). The outfield panels are now closed when the roof is closed. Which is by far the most likely scenario when the lid is shut.

Loving the game, but man if they streamlined the stadium creator interface…I’m struggling with it. Wish they would have left it like it was.

I haven’t been able to fire it up yet, but I believe the stadium seat view was simply a temporary cutscene rather than a playable camera angle.
