Re: MLB The Show 23 Gameplay Feature Premiere - Plenty of Details
Last year was the first time the rather-more-common spelling of my last name was the only one that was in the audio database. Oddly enough, Matt had a different pronunciation for both of them when his database was still being used.
Of course I can still type in the name "Cruise" to display and associate it with the "Cruz" audio so it's not really a big deal....at least in this game.Comment

What year was this? The first time they did it? If so, then I must be mis-remembering something.Comment

I remember there being a thread regarding audio (first, last) back in 2008/2009 time frame. It was also roughly around the time the devs would post pictures of the top 10 players at each position.
Anyways, the thread was just loaded with users tossing in their first-last name and the pronunciation. It’s how my, unique last name, made it in — all the way up until last year of course.Comment

I’m so underwhelmed. ‘Maybe next year’ should be the title of this series from now on.
If we are celebrating having the correct rules (but not all of them), along with the fielding meter now moving then that tells us everything we need to know. Diamond Dynasty has killed this series from innovating.
It’s going to be a good game, it always is. But it was a good game in 2010, with the new technology it should now be a GREAT game. And I’m bored with it.
This isn’t next gen. Not even close.Comment

There was a time when this game went above and beyond but the Maddenisation of this title is reflected by that exact line, "maybe next year". When they removed carry-over saves from franchise mode all those years ago it was because they knew that if they kept that feature in, people genuinely wouldn't have any viable reason to spend big on the new game from one year to the next.🇺🇸 58,281 🇺🇸Comment

For people that did not use Y2Y saves in the first place, that decision had no bearing on them.
For people that DID use Y2Y saves, the removal of the feature creates a barrier to purchase that had not already been there. Previously, being able to keep your existing franchise going PLUS getting any upgrades with the new game made for a pretty easy purchase. Without the feature, there is a definite battle between abandoning your existing franchise vs getting the new game while being forced to start over.
I've personally invested over 900 hours into my Orioles franchise this year and am completely attached to that universe. To start over again is not something I want to do. Marginal upgrades are not an incentive at all to buy at the cost of giving that up...and frankly, even more extensive upgrades may not offset that cost.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Some guy: "I've invested all this time in my franchise."
SDS: "Good news, you can keep it going in the new game."
Some guy: "You just lost yourself a customer!"

Man, I've read this about ten times and still can't make sense of it. People wouldn't have a reason to buy the new game if they could continue their franchise saves in it? What?

Your conclusion that removal of Y2Y saves would make people MORE likely to buy a newer game defies logic. It is the complete opposite!
