Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea
I saw someone mention the limited stadiums with an outside view. I am sure its only limited due to time, money, and effort needed to get that done. I would not be surprised if next year they announce any missing have been added.Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day

I did notice and again this might have happened in old versions and I just never noticed. Losing draft picks if someone signs one of your guys. That is cool though that might have always been there.Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day

I did think of one thing they did not mention that I guess will stay the same. Stats, I would have loved for them to make it to where you can go and check a minor league player and see the stats they had in AA, AAA, etc and not have them disappear Nothing make or break for me just would love to see it.Mets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Well, that sealed the deal for me…
Preordered the digital deluxe edition last night after stream.
Franchise - a few things I still want back in but overall, like where it’s going. I still want to change my damn hotdog prices but always next year.
What got me was their presentation update. So little yet something I actually like that got me off guard was the regional presentation overlays.

It's clear the only way they will fix franchise issues is with an overhaul. And with the resources going elsewhere, they can only overhaul a small portion each year. So big step in right direction, but still a long time before Franchise is actually fixed.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea
I miss being excited for this series. I have zero interest in DD and other card games. I like simulation play, which is why Franchise and RTTS have always been my favorite modes.
The game looks great…presentation upgrades are cool but after seeing them 2-3 times I end up skipping them.
I’m at the point where I’m still begging for features in All-Star Baseball on the PS2. Mostly I’m talking about their expanded records books. They had record stats for everything and even had team records. I remember drafting a player and watching them climb up career leaderboard for my team.
It was great because announcers would even recognize these feats. “And with that hit, this player has moved up to number 5 on the team’s all-time hits leaders!” Or “They’re only 3 home runs away from passing #playername# on the MLB career home run list to move into 10th All-Time!”
It made things feel organic and alive. If the player won an MVP or RoY, they’d even recognize that. “Last years MVP takes his first swing of the season.” Or “He was struggling to start this season but as a 2025 (this is 2027 season) Rookie of the Year, he’s got the tools to turn it around.”
I won’t even get into Expansions teams and how teams would get new stadiums (pre-rendered) as franchise moved on.
Even without the commentary recognizing it, just seeing better career leader stats and both expanded MLB and Team records would add a lot of replay ability for me. They even had season and game records for the league and team. It just made it feel like a living world.Comment

For those talking about graphics, I really wonder how much of that has to do with still releasing for last Gen consoles. Maybe they are thinking, why spend time/effort/resources in graphics when it would then have to be dumbed down for last Gen consoles.
Idk. I don’t think graphics are bad. But are behind other games on next Gen consoles.

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea
I like what I saw but of course I'm still wanting more. There are some features we've been asking for that still aren't coming. This is definitely a step in the right direction and I am happy to see some time invested into Franchise after a few years of neglect. Still, there are some items that other titles have that just seem like SSD is just falling behind by not giving us yet.Check out my updated 2017 blog on building a high school football video game:

I finally watched the stream from yesterday. WOW did they spend a huge amount of time on the draft.
I really wanted them to talk about how they improved bullpen logic, but we'll find out how it works in '23 and if I have to use workarounds again.
The draft stuff looks very cool.
Liked what I saw from the new presentation stuff definitely. Bring on March 24!!!! Ready to get my new franchise rollin.JUUUUUUUST A BIT OUTSIDEComment

I just wish people would acknowledge the good because there was definitely some good in that stream yesterday. The draft stuff wasn’t anything groundbreaking but it’s a huge stride forward in an area of franchise needed a drastic upgrade. And the presentation really took a step forward as well. Are there other areas that we as fans would like to see addressed? Of course. But have to give some credit where credit is due.Currently Playing

I feel like people want OOTP in MLB the show . OOTP has like every feature in baseball you can ask for . Nothing is missing. BUT OOTP is never going to pay the money it would take to use player likeness on the graphics so the graphics will never match MLB the show graphics.
Does the show put way to much time in DD and such . Ofcourse they do but that is not their fault its the consumer. Its us. People spend money on things for DD and streamers stream about it so it makes money. So they are going to do it.
I am sure the makers of the game work hard, they care, and try the best they can with the time and resources they have to work withMets Baseball, All Day Every Day
