That was cool you got to participate in that. Was that a in person event that you got to meet them? Sorry that I am not familiar with that.

Thanks for sharing that. Hopefully That makes people feel better about the direction and we can be a little more patient with it. Even I’m guilty of hoping it can come in one year lol.

Was excited that they finally implemented the Ohtani rule. I play a lot of Play Now games and was tired of never getting to have him pitch and hit in the same game.

What did Russell mean when he mentioned Triple-A realignment?

The MiLB leagues were realigned to better match geographically to other teams in their leagues. Last year they MiLB had temporary names, but now they have permanent ones.

The new draft stuff looked like more like a game within the game style system which, I have to say, piqued my interest in the mode more than it has in quite a while.

That being said though, DD is still my primary mode with RTTS being second. I still feel like if I get the urge to dive into a franchise mode that I will still play Out Of The Park baseball. Sure, it is not the prettiest game but the depth and customizability of the franchise mode can't be matched (although I admit that those facts also can make it overwhelming to learn).

I agree that the Draft overhaul was a necessary and long overdue add that makes Franchise more interesting and immersive than it has been in a while. The Show may never have the immersion of OOTP, but somewhere in the middle I think is a reasonable goal. OOTP also has the advantage of just being on PC, so they can do literally anything that they want, which is what makes those games great in a way console sports games probably never could be. Somebody I played online last year did a dynasty with MODS lol

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea

I've been really pondering my thoughts about last night's premiere - specifically the scouting - because my reaction to it has been "Ewww" but I couldn't quite figure out what was bugging me the most. The more I think about it, it honestly boils down to this one screen...

I absolutely loathe this screen. You basically see 2 players on the screen at once and as far as I know, there is no ability to sort the players (like if I wanted to see the top velo SPs). You're going to be stuck scrolling through this long list and jotting things down to try to come up with any sort of comprehensive list. It's just very unwieldy (and yes, I know this is the approach they used last year for FA in MtO - and I didn't like it there either).

I would like to have the ability to go to this screen, and be given an option to hit 'square' and have that bring up the full list of players in a "spreadsheet" format similar to the past scouting system (where we can efficiently peruse/sort through the players). Once you found the guy, you can hit 'X' and it selects that player to select for the scouting for that week.

I know folks are praising that scouting once a week will "save time", but I think this particular UI decision lessens that considerably (if anything, it'll take longer). Maybe I am missing something here (and please tell me if I am), but this is the one aspect of the scouting interface that really has me scratching my head.

Your TV setup also matters. I think the game looks great. I see some things that can be improved but its not game breaking for me. It's a video game that on the field plays amazing.
I'm old. and I'm old enough to remember as recently as the late 90's, while a lot of baseball games looked great compared to even the early 90's, the gameplay just wasnt anywhere near as close as it has been the last 10 years. so if graphically speaking, baseball games stay the same for the next 40 years, I'm cool with that because I do not want to revert to a time when the game looked good was more important than actual gameplay. I can go back to the prePS4 Show era (Show 13) and play the hell out of that, but I cant say the same for 989s old game, or EA's preMVP Triple Play series. theres just zero fun for me going 162-0 winning every game by 20 plus runs.

TLDR: gimme more of what we've had the last 10 years, for the next 30 years, I'm good

Curious what people think about graphics and the exterior stadium shots, compared to MLB 2K7:

                      2K7 was a very pretty-looking game.

The fact that they did literally anything to the painfully tedious scouting and draft system is a miracle. As someone who's been playing most versions of this game since 2012, this change might actually be more substantive than the last 11 years combined. Rebuilding is so damn boring when you're blindly drafting crappy prospects who grow +3 attribute points per year and reach like a 78 by the time they're 32 even if they have A Potential. I want a league that can actually replace its talent when the real players retire.

Important question...are velocity, control, break, and stamina still locked out of progression? I have no clue why the devs made that change half a decade ago, especially when there are supposed to be training sessions that develop those attributes.

Also praying that one day you can auto-tender your minor leaguers in the off-season. Does anyone agree with me that the off-season is a major drag because of that?

But why would you assume that the already stellar gameplay would get worse if they focused heavily on visuals for a cycle or two? Worst case scenario it just stays the same which, as you admit, is great as is.

not really seeing how this is a completely revamped scouting and draft system. Its still only 7 rounds. Changing scouts from making 2 million to realistic salaries is a plus. And having bonus money alottments is cool. But i still feel like they just made new menus for the existing system.

The function of scouting is still the exact same. Scouts have the same 4 attributes and appear to have the same abilities as the last few years. You could always scout an individual prospect, scout a position or discover new prospects in areas. Setting a scout to search for pitchers in the west is the exact same thing as previous years and isnt a new feature.

Instead of just picking options for the 4 scouts you had now you have 3 and rank them in priorities. Other than that i cant tell how scouting is different.

I do like the updated draft presentation and the regional networks stuff.

I think making the game for XBOX plus still making the old gen has taken away a lot of dev time/resources that could have made this game take the next leap into "next gen"

Its not exactly a MLB the Show problem either i only just bought a ps5 for Hogwarts because it was the first game i felt was somewhat next gen and was interested in.

Graphics are not issue for it's the body types! If you look closely at the player's they all flat chested. There should be difference between Volgenbach & Judge. Also I think the create-a-player has more body definition.

Can they do a full body scan, like they do the head scans?

I'm a fan of the Show I have my gripes, but it's still immerses me into the game of baseball. Buying it day one, jumping into my Braves franchise and just enjoy it!
