But it doesn't really matter how big of a task it was. It had to be in. Just like when the NFL went to an 18-week schedule, Madden *had* to incorporate it. No matter how big or small the task was.

Trust me, I'm not denying the fact that it HAD to be in. My point was that we don't know how easy or hard it is to code this stuff so we shouldn't say things like "they could easily do this or that". At no point in the statements you made did you present them as anything other than fact. You even doubled down the second time stating they "COULD if they wanted to". This was preceeded with your smartass comment about "typical response from you"

Bingo, Nobody in here does video game coding for a living so nobody in here has a clue really on how hard it is to add something to the game or not add something. You 100% correct.

I have played world of warcraft on and off for over 18 years. They have gone through so many coders since they game launched in 2004. There are many bugs some of them so small like a simple how to get an order of names to be in alpha order like it used to be 10 years earlier. And if you ask them how is this still not fixed they flat out tell you. We can not find the correct way to change that coding without jacking up other code.

none of us are coders and know how it works. Its easy for us to throw stones at people who make games when all we do is play them. The world we live in we all want want want want and could care less how we get it. Sad that it is that way but true

As a coder at a large company for over 12 years, I agree that adding something like a new playoff structure via patch last season was a task probably not feasible. Not worth it to touch something that has so many moving pieces and risk breaking the logic of franchise, when you can include it in next years game with full life cycle. What I don't like is things like adding in-game highlights or a nighlty/weekly recap show can't be added? Stuff that are added to franchise mode that shouldn't affect the already defined base structure shouldn't be hard to implement.

It seems to be a matter of priority and resources for the team, it seems like a very small amount of resources can be used on franchise improvements. More resources are used for DD, which more people play and more money is made, so I don't blame it. Just the way it is.

It's very much possible. The game is simmed so it knows the play outcomes for the game, ala if someone hit a 3 run HR. You can fake or create it as much as the sim engine is detailed. If all you know is Soto hit a 3 run HR, you just plug in the details needed to create a hr from a CPU/CPU game and show it. They have the debug capabilities to create certain outcomes via things like exit velo/angle/runners on, they have showed these in previous feature premieres but unsure if those are used when games are simming.

Didn't they say this was a data limitation in PS4 time frame? I thought PS5 was going to change that for the game.

So it would have to load both of those teams from that highlight, and the stadium being played in, and do that each day for all 15 teams for every day on the schedule. Not including your own team that you control.

I don't know if I would do all 15 games but you can load the stadiums (I'd even be fine with lower res to save time). Even run it earlier on a background thread so it loads everything and all you have to do is render. Think NFL 2k5 or CHOOPS 2k8 highlight show, that's what I've always wanted in this game.

The new scouting and draft system seems promising, but I'm surprised no one mentioned this ...

In the video they showed, the team they ended up simming scouting with had the 4th overall pick. When it came time for their pick in the draft, there were multiple top 10 prospect ranking guys who were still at only 10% scouted.

I don't think that's at all realistic, that a team that picks in the top 5, wouldn't have at least scouted all the top 10 prospects to SOME degree.

I worry that the AI logic for how they plan their scouting priorities wasn't super well tuned.

I guess we will have to see how it all works in reality, but I wish the % scouted was also less of an all or nothing type thing. I feel like too many of the top prospects being only 10% scouted by draft day isn't particularly realistic.

It might be nice if all the top 150 draft board prospects gained some % of scouting accuracy each week (say 2% a week), so even if you don't specifically target certain guys, you'd still have a bit better of a rough idea of all the 'top' guys which I think is much more true to life.
