One other thing I am a bit confused on is the impact of the Physical. When it says a guy is injured is he actually going to miss time the following season? Or does that just mean he has a high injury risk (aka low Durability rating)? Or is it just a cosmetic addition that only impacts his draft value, then doesn't make any other impact?Chicago Cubs

Plus what about a franchise in year 5 or 6. Can't do something like that.
My point was that it was a nice option to have. Nothing more and could make your baseball universe more personalized. It's just an option that was there that was removed.Funkycorm

It’s always been pretty easy to fire poor scouts and hire all the top scouts.
So one issue i can see with the new scouting and drafting is that if you can still easily sign the top scouts you will still have an unfair advantage over the CPU teams.
Would be cool if signing scouts was more difficult as well.

Do signing bonuses count against your team payroll IRL? If so will they work that way in game?

I would assume they are automatically taken out of your payroll.
So if you have a $200m payroll and your bonus allotment is $9m
Your payroll is shown as $191m- Franchise Fidelity to Reality Roster out now! (MLB 25)

Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise, MTO, Presentation and Commentary Feature Premiere Brea
I've been trying to prepare a list of things Franchise could still use for a future stream after the game comes out. I jotted 11 here but would love to hear what others think/what I forgot. In no particular order here. Some of these are probably just petty too
Team Strategy/ability to set aggressiveness and style. Super Sim obviously allows for you to handle this meticulously batter to batter but it would be nice to be able to set broad team strategies for simming quicker.
Training Staff. Since there are already buffs for other coaches, it seems like a small add to put training staff in for buffs/negatives to durability and stamina, especially now that SDS has shown a willingness to push for more realistic payrolls and salaries.
Ejections. I get why charging the mound won’t ever be in an E rated game, but ejections happen far more frequently and generally for a single purpose, team morale. Perhaps losing a challenge or a crucial call going against you can unlock a screen that gives you the option to argue with the umpire in exchange for a team boost. Plus even just a handful of different cut scenes would be hilarious.
Strategic Mound Visits. We already know how the mound visits give a slight confidence boost to the current pitcher and warmup progress to the readying ones, but a slight tweak could be added where an option for an extra boost to control, velocity, etc. occurs for a batter or two after the visit to make the visits more strategic and useful in-game. I know a lot of guys who just never use them, so this could add a little extra immersion.
Customizable on Screen Stats. Not a major thing, but I use Fast Play to get through games quicker at the expense of some of the Show’s presentation perks. It would be nice to have a little in between customization for what kinds of stats and info you would like and not like to see in game (but does sound like a programming nightmare, so I get that it's probably just a fantasy).
Ability to Move/Create Expansion Teams. Should already be in the game. Period.
Division Realignment. Would be a fun little twist for users to mix it up a little for new challenges. With the new schedule rules, SDS has already revamped their coding for scheduling without a doubt, so maybe this wouldn’t be a ton of extra work. 2K has it, so why not?
Notifications of Minor League Options. I’m probably alone on this one because this is really just a pet peeve, but I would love that part of a signing or demotion notification to show me the number of options remaining before I hit the button without having to enter player card or scroll over on the roster. I get that it’s a little thing and one or two clicks, but to me it gets tedious when filling in your minor league system in the offseason/spring training to do 15-20 times a year.
Minor League Contracts and Purchase System. In line with making finances more realistic could be this wrinkle. In real life, teams sign vets to minor league deals all the time, especially before spring training, only to later purchase their contract and transfer to a major league one. While I am quite pleased that the Show already defaults vet free agent signings in the spring to AAA/Non-40 Man status most of the time, the salary shouldn’t be the same as if they were signed to be on the big league club. This could be a potential dev headache since there are two moving parts here (plus some potential scaling issues with contracts no doubt), but if they could pull it off, again, it could both help immersion and also make rebuilds more fun and doable, especially for newer players.
Set Reliever Roles. This one is probably overdue. Wiser gamers than I have untangled the riddle that is figuring out what these roles actually mean currently in terms of when and how frequently guys pitch, and I still don’t think I understand it. There are I think two approaches that could be taken:
Change the current labels to more specific slots (6th Inning MRP, Mop Up LRP, etc.) which may be easier to understand and also program.
Develop scenario rules as part of an expansion of team strategy. Something like what 2K is working on where you have a set list of if/then scenarios where you want specific people to pitch (ex: if up by 3 or less runs in 8th, pitch setup guy). Definitely more work involved there no doubt, but I think long term benefits are worth it.Comment

MLB needs to unhandcuff Sony and let them do this tastefully, show a manager (or even players) animation where the mgr. comes running out of the dugout and up to the ump with a full head of steam, then cut to another camera angle where the manager and ump are then shown having what some might even term a polite conversation.
stay out too long and the ump can ring you up with an arm lift animation no different than a third call strike at the plate or a runner thrown out at first.
if you leave the conversation too early and go back to the dugout, the ump sees you're a pushover and close calls start to go against you until you correct that with an appropriate ''polite conversation'' length.
a well-timed conversation with the ump can give you the benefit of close calls going you're way.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

I've been saying this until I'm blue in the face and I'll continue until the cows come home:

Or maybe just have it as a rated skill for the manager. Like a composure rating or something like that. It could influence on how the pitches are called for you to a small degree. Positive or negative like you said.

to make it easier, I think they should just do away with the pitcher roles. label them either as RHP or LHP. the role they assume is up to their stats and the club using them.
Occasionally I will bring up a prospect due to an injury and the prospect is on fire.. when the current big leaguer recovers, I might keep the prospect and move a low performing starter to a LRP role. Well they are labeled as a starter by the game so now they are unhappy about their role and their stats go down...Comment

Solely used for contract negotiations. One of the best changes they have made to the game in my opinion.Last edited by Funkycorm; 03-12-2023, 03:22 PM.Funkycorm

Morale could have been a good addition if it had been implemented better.
