Since my name is not in the game I tried using the Face Scan app to scan in a picture of John Clarkson, a pitcher from the 1890s. The picture was in Sepia and white and he was not looking 100% straight forward, but it did work!

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
Been a huge fan of this series since it started, but for some reason the past two entries did not hold my attention. I’ve only played six or seven games, but so far I am really enjoying this year’s entry.
I am seeing a good variety of hits and scores.

Been playing DD and it held my attention the entire season. Imho, it’s the best competitive mode of any sports game. Way better than Madden and FIFA.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
Having some more time with the game I must say aside from the crashing issues I am having which I am sure will be patched soon the game is really impressive this year
I mean sure we can all make a list of things we still want added to the game but if we just judge the game based on what is actually in it then I gotta say 5 Star this year. Plays smooth, pitching feels more realistic like you really feel the difference between the type of pitches and such. Graphics are perfect for me anyway. I mean I could go on and on. But they did a very good job. I give it a 8.5 out of 10 and once they fix my crashing issue a 10/10 is comingMets Baseball, All Day Every Day

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
Well, I’ve settled in and started my franchise (2-3 so far).
1. I did some roster editing. Because of the bug with QC (quick counts), which I have always used, made the move to playing every pitch. I LOVE IT.
One thing I noticed playing QC is that you miss out on a lot of stadium ambience/sounds.
I turned off the commentary and played thru my JBL sound system. Didn’t realize how many stadium sounds I missed drowned out by the commentary. SO WELL DONE!
The animations….Hit a no doubt home run, hard to explain, but after a violent swing the batter stood straight up knowing it was long gone, admired it for a moment.
Threw a nasty strike 3 breaking ball to the CPU batter. He knew it before it hit the catchers glove, put his head down, walked directly across home plate without a whimper.
So many more animations added.
I’m playing the PS5 version on a 65” Samsung QLED and the colors are stunning. The early evening lighting in Petco…..spot on, the sun setting in the west casting a bright light on the buildings and shadows onto the field.
It’s gonna be a great year for The Show.Comment

I don’t mind it so much. It’s just there is really so much going on with sounds in the stadium. They did an excellent job with this. Fans even getting involved. I just never heard them because of the commentary.Comment

I oughta smack you one! I hate the Dodgers. Was playing against them. I’ve got a fantasy DBacks team. The rattle snake that shows during the swipe screen and after a home run……his rattle rattlesComment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
ive been mostly in roster making mode since the game dropped, but the games i have gotten in have impressed me, especially on the hitting side. this is the best hitting has felt to me in awhile, and feels 1:1 (or as close as 1:1 it can be) to my PCI placement and where the ball is in the zone. also gotta mention my love for more expressive emotions from players. always a nice touchComment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
For example if the count came up 2-1, it would only add 2 pitches to your pitch count. If it came up 3-2, it would only add 4 pitches, etc.. just to keep pitch counts down/more realistic.
But now it's just adding every pitch to the count - ie. if it comes up 3-2, it's adding 5 pitches to your pitch count.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 23 Impressions (Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5)
1. The color of the grass and dirt in this series have always bothered me. It is just off. One of these years they need to fix it.
2. The fans need an upgrade, not only graphically because they stand out like a sore thumb, but they also need more variety. It is like they have same 4 or 5 people, with 3 of them literally sitting right next to or close to each other. It is like you are looking at twins and triplets everywhere.
3. Not a fan of Negro Leagues being stuck behind a story mode. I have zero interest in story modes in sports games. Should just allowed them to be played in exhibition.
4. Not a fan of WBC being in diamond dynasty mode only either. That is another mode I have zero interest in playing.
5. Hair models look weird on some players, this has always been a thing with this series I noticed.
So you have 2 things that is basically the highlight of the new game to grab casuals attention to this years game stuck behind modes that a casual will have no desire to play. That would have been like FIFA putting World Cup available in ultimate team only. I just don't understand that logic.
Other then that, MLB The Show 23 is MLB The Show. Mindless fun to me. Graphically I can't really tell the difference between this and the last 4 or 5 games. Game look good, but yet it don't have that next gen look about it like the other sports games do. Hell even WWE 2K23 have a next gen look about it.
To me if they fix the hair models, the grass color, dirt color and the fans, it would improve the game greatly graphically. Also they need to change up the back ground stuff. Like it is always the same birds and number of birds flying in the same direction in the sky behind the pitcher. Same style and color of airplane landing. Commentary while improved, still feels disconnected with what is actually happening.
Got it on Game Pass, so it fills my casual baseball fan needs. Now if you paying $70 for it, unless you are a diehard baseball fan, I wouldn't recommend full price. Especially if you own 22, 21 or 20. Honestly you can say that about all sports games, none of them really warrant a full price yearly buy unless that is your favorite sport. I'm still waiting for MLB The Show to give me that next gen feel, so far it still haven't.Comment
