I’m thinking revenue is determined by your total payroll at the start of your franchise and then it can go up or down slightly based on performance. The Dodgers and Phillies both have better records than me yet my revenue is way higher. It must me tied to payroll since mine is much higher

Redbird Report - Cardinals Clinch Playoff Berth

The Cardinals (90-60) secured a spot in October baseball over the weekend as they reached their 90th win against the Giants. The Cardinals will at least be a wildcard team when postseason play begins. They currently lead the Cubs by 9 games in the NL Central with their magic number down to 3 games.

The Cardinals clinch the berth after missing the postseason a year ago. In fact the Cardinals have already surpassed last year's win total of 84 games (90) with 12 games left on the schedule. The Cardinals are also battling the Braves and Dodgers for the best record in the National League. The Braves currently own that spot by a single game.

The Cardinals have 4 series left on the docket. They will host the Brewers for 3 games and the Diamondbacks for 3 games before travelling to Washington for a 3 game series and then concluding the regular season with the Reds in Cincinnati.

          August 11-13: FLAGSTAFF (69-49) @ GOODYEAR (53-67)
Stadium: Banner Health Field (Capacity: 8,816)

          August 11: Jack Rabbits 6, Hops 2
          August 12: Hops 4, Jack Rabbits 1
          August 13: Jack Rabbits 1, Hops 0

Goodyear, AZ (AP) - The Flagstaff Hops woes continued as they dropped two of three against last-place Goodyear to open their road trip. The Jack Rabbits won the series with a walk-off win on Sunday afternoon.

The Hops offensive woes continued as they opened the road trip with a 6-2 loss against Goodyear. Ionatana Wiliama (6-9) tossed seven strong innings, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out eight as the last place Jack Rabbits won the opener.

Goodyear would grab an early lead against Shoe-Lace O’Tying as they hit two second inning home runs. Emilio Montalvo hit a solo shot to left center and Ahmad Woodson blasted a two-run shot to left as the Jack Rabbits moved out to a 3-0 lead.

A David Benitez two-out RBI single in the fourth got the Hops on the board. But Eugene Malanka homered in the bottom half to put the Jack Rabbits back up by three.

Arturo Mardones singled home Robbie Westbrook in the fifth to cut the lead back to two. But Goodyear would add two in the seventh to salt this one away.

Shoe-Lace O’Tying (10-8) was knocked around for six runs on eight hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. He did strike out nine and walked two.

On Saturday night, Ryan Pressley tossed a complete game as the Hops rebounded for a 4-1 victory to force a rubber match on Sunday afternoon. A four-run third inning was all that Pressley would need to help the Hops pick up the win.

An Arturo Mardones sacrifice fly got the Hops on the board in the third. Emmitt Hampton then doubled home Robbie Westbrook to double their lead. Josh Ortega would hit a two-run home run, his 32nd, to make it 4-0.

That lead would hold up as Pressley carried a one-hitter into the eighth. Eugene Malanka would hit a solo home run to left, his 15th, to get Goodyear on the board. It was his second home run in as many nights.

The Jack Rabbits then got back-to-back two-out singles in the ninth to bring Malanka to the plate as the tying run, but Pressley struck him out to end it and pick up his 12th win on the season, improving to (12-7). He struck out eight and did not issue any walks.

Michael Gomez (4-13) was saddled with the loss. He lasted five innings, allowing the four runs on six hits, while striking out four.

Another brutal offensive performance on Sunday afternoon as the Hops fell 1-0 on a Caleb Diamond walk-off home run. Abraham Blanco tossed eight shutout innings, striking out 11 as the Jack Rabbits took two of three from the slumping Hops.

The Hops wasted a great pitching performance from Juro Yamaguchi as he tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just six hits and striking out two. Pedro Macias came on in the bottom of the ninth and Caleb Diamond hit the first pitch that he saw into the right field bullpen to win it.

The Hops offense scored only six runs in the three game series, and lost two of three, despite their pitching staff only allowing eight runs. On Sunday afternoon, the Hops struck out 12 times and did not draw a walk. The Hops have score three or fewer runs in 19 of their 23 games since the All-Star break and have an abysmal (6-17) record. Their once huge lead in the ML West (16 games at the break) is down to only 8 1/2 games over St George.

Flagstaff (69-49) will now head to Santa Fe for a four game series with the slumping Silver Bullets (66-52).

Around the League: Chandler won the opener of a huge weekend series with second place Gilbert by a 6-3 count at YouFit Park in downtown Gilbert. Jaevan Cooper doubled, homered and drove in two to help lead the Chiefs to the win that moved them 4 1/2 games ahead of the Barnstormers.

Mesa won it’s 70th game on the season, third most in the IBL, but only third best in their own division, with a 6-1 victory over Tucson. Luke Palmer (10-8) tossed 7 2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out nine. Catcher Anthony Feliz went 3 for 4 with a home run and five RBIs to lead the Solar Sox.

On Saturday afternoon, Yuma scored ten runs in the first inning, then held on for dear life as they edged Scottsdale 10-9. San Diego’s Quintana (10-4) tossed 7 1/3 innings of shutout baseball, allowing four hits and striking out ten as the Seals defeated first-place Henderson 4-0.

Gilbert defeated Chandler 6-3 on Sunday afternoon and took two of three in the big weekend series. Jonathan Tunick went 3 for 4 with two home runs and drove in three to help move the Barnstormers to with 2 1/2 games of first place Chandler.

Scottsdale rookie Howard Hood improved to (6-0) on the season as he pitched six innings, allowing three runs in a 4-3 victory for the Scorpions over Yuma. San Diego’s Matt Campbell (11-7) struck out nine in eight innings of work as the Seals defeated Henderson 6-2. Campbell leads all of the IBL in strikeouts with 182.

Amarillo scored 12 runs in the second inning, an IBL record, and then held on late for a 15-14 victory over Fort Worth. The teams combined for 29 runs, 34 hits, and eight home runs. Fort Worth’s Douglas Matsui (1-12) allowed nine runs on eight hits while recording only five outs. The Kings optioned Matsui to Triple-A Syracuse after the game.

The season is now in the dog days of summer as we hit mid-August and there are only about 45 games left in the 2023 regular season. The Flagstaff Hops still have the largest division lead (8.5 games) despite being below .500 for the last month and a half. Lets have a look around the leagues.

In the Mountain League, Austin, El Paso and Flagstaff are atop their divisions with Santa Fe and West Texas/St George currently sitting in the top Wild Card positions. But there are six other teams within 4 1/2 games of the Wild Card so the last seven weeks of the regular season should be exciting.

In the Desert League, things are a bit different. Chandler, Scottsdale and Henderson lead their divisions with Gilbert and Mesa in control of the Wild Card. They lead the third place team (Las Vegas) by 9 1/2 games. The Nuggets best chance for a postseason birth is likely making up the 6 1/2 games that they trail the Silver Knights by.

The DL East race looks like it is going to be a wild three team race to the finish as Chandler (76-43), Gilbert (74-46) and Mesa (70-48) own the three best records in the IBL. No other team even has 70 wins. Gilbert has six games left with Mesa and six left with Chandler. Chandler and Mesa will still meet nine more times so there is still much to be determined.

Scottsdale, which leads the DL Central, will face Glendale on the finale weekend of the season. They only have those three games left. The teams have split their 16 games so far this season.

In the DL West, Henderson (68-52) leads Las Vegas by 6 1/2 games. The teams will still meet six more times, but only twice after this week.

Austin leads the ML East by 1 1/2 games over West Texas. The two teams will meet six times in September. West Texas has won seven of the 13 meetings in 2023.

Red-Hot El Paso with a three games lead in the ML Central has seven games remaining with Santa Fe. The Blue Rocks have won seven of the 12 meetings so far this season and are (14-8) since the All-Star break.

Lastly, the slumping Flagstaff Hops still have six games left with the St George Archers in September. Can the Archers get close enough to make those games matter? Salt Lake is still in the mix too and they will face the Hops six times in September.

As we take a look at award frontrunners, the ML MVP leader is currently Kosuke Matsui of slumping San Antonio. Matsui is hitting .290 with 32 home runs and 95 RBIs. Albuquerque’s Thomas Estrada is making a case on the worst team in the league, hitting .312 with 32 home runs and 85 RBIs. Over in the Desert League, Steve Heupel of Gilbert looks to be a lock for MVP right now. He is hitting .317 with 36 home runs and 84 RBIs.

Ron Sposato is the favorite to win the ML Cy Young. He is (14-6) with an ERA of 3.42 with 135 strikeouts. Chandler’s Steven Escobar is looking like the DL favorite for the award. He is (14-6) with a 3.18 ERA and 136 strikeouts.

The Rookie of the Year favorites are currently Salt Lake’s Laughton Storey and Chandler’s Reynaldo Pulido. Storey is hitting .265 with seven home runs and 34 RBIs for the Chukars, while Pulido is hitting .287 with 27 home runs and 65 RBIs for the Chiefs.

Redbird Report - Cardinals are the NL Central Division Champions

The Cardinals finished the season with a record of 94-68 and clinched the NL Central Division title. The Cardinals beat out the Cubs, who won it last year, by 6 games. While winning the division title is a great achievement, the downside is that the Cardinals finished with the 3rd best division winner record, so they will be playing in the 3 game Wildcard Series. The Cardinals finished behind the Dodgers and Braves, both who won 97 games, but the Braves got the tie breaker and home field advantage.

The Cardinals will face a familiar foe in the Wildcard Series as they take on the Brewers who swept the Cardinals in mid-September. Also the Cardinals will be without 3 key players in their lineup due to injuries. Paul DeJong still has 3 days left on the 60 Day IL before he can be activated so he will miss the Wildcard Series. Paul Goldschmidt will likely miss the entire playoffs as he's recovering from a wrist injury. Its possible he returns for the World Series should the Redbirds get that far. And the most recent blow was Dylan Carlson being injured in the Reds series. Carlson suffered an ankle injury that will cause him to miss the entire playoffs.

The Cardinals have set their 26 man Wildcard Series roster:

              Pitchers

              Julio Urias (Game 1 starter)
              Jack Flaherty (Game 2 starter)
              Jordan Montgomery (Game 3 starter)
              Miles Mikolas
              Dakota Hudson
              Johan Oviedo
              Chris Stratton
              Liam Hendricks
              Genesis Cabrera
              Jordan Hicks
              Giovanny Gallegos
              Jose Alvarado
              Ryan Helsley

              Lineup

              CF - Harrison Bader
              RF - Lars Nootbaar
              1B - Jordan Walker
              3B - Nolan Arenado
              LF - Tyler O'Neill
              DH - Alec Burleson
              CA - Willson Contreras
              SS - Leonardo Rivas
              2B - Brendan Donovan

              Bench

              CA - Ivan Herrera
              IF - Nick Dunn
              IF/DH - Nolan Gorman
              OF - Magnerius Sierra

Game 1 of the series with the Brewers begins on Wednesday night.

Uncharacteristic Helsley meltdown leads to Brewers Game One win

The Cardinals will have to win two games in a row against a team that has beaten them 4 straight games if they want to continue their postseason run. The Brewers beat the Cardinals 5-2 last night in Game One of the Wildcard Series in St.Louis.

Mauricio Dubon got things started in the Top of the 3rd when he hit a solo homerun off of Julio Urias to put the Brewers up 1-0. Issac Parades would hit a solo shot in the 4th inning to put the away team up 2-0 and have the fans in Busch Stadium feeling nervous. But the home team would bounce back in the bottom of the 4th with Leonardo Rivas and Brendan Donovan each delivering RBI singles with the bases loaded to tie the game. Unfortunately, that was the only two runs the Cards would push across as Harrison Bader was called out on a questionable pitch, and Lars Nootbaar popped out to end the threat.

The game was quiet for the next 4 innings and in the Top of the 9th the Cardinals turned to their closer Ryan Helsley to give the home team a chance to walk it off in the bottom of the inning. But Helsley exploded. After striking out Christian Yelich to begin the inning, the Brewers would preceed to score 3 runs on 5 hits against the Redbird bookend and push the score to 5-2, silencing the crowd and securing the Brewers victory. The home team went 3 up, 3 down in the bottom of the 9th.

The Cardinals have struggled with the Brewers all season but will need to find a way to win 2 straight if they want to continue their 2024 postseason run in the NLDS.

Game 2 is Thursday night with Jack Flaherty getting the ball for the Cardinals. Freddy Perralta will take the hill for the Brewers.

Serious Question. Do people post here AND in the dynasty section? I'm seriously inquiring because I don't want to risk getting in trouble. I didn't know if this was just test or whatever. I'll be happy to post in both locations if allowed just didn't want to get yelled at for being new and ruining things HAHA

This thread is for everyone and anyone to share their franchise experience no matter what year of the game you are playing.

Do both! Unfortunately the once mighty dynasty page has become pretty quiet over the past 5 years, but there's lots of traffic here, and plenty of people running franchises in plenty of different ways!

Flaherty and Youngins propel Cardinals to Game 2 win

Jack Flaherty was phenomenal in his Game 2 start. Flaherty would get the win after going 7 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits with 9 strikeouts. He didn't allow a free pass. The offensive help he received was from two unlikely sources. Alec Burleson doubled home Tyler O'Neill in the bottom of the 2nd to make it a 1-0 ballgame. Two batters later, Leonardo Rivas hit his first ever major league homerun, a two run bomb that made the score 3-0, and invoked a feeling of confidence amongst the players and the fans. After Flaherty gave up a run in the 7th with one out, he quickly settled down striking out the next two batters on just 7 pitches to end the threat. Jose Alvarado would get thru the 8th and Giovanny Gallegos would close out the game in the 9th, as the Cardinals win 3-1, and will force a Game 3 Friday night.

Jordan Montgomery is expected to take the ball for the Cardinals. Brandon Woodruff will be on the mound for the Brewers.

Your ability to not let stuff happening in MLB affect your franchise is impressive. I’ve already dumped a big chunk of my roster because the real life Mets pissed me off
