Re: MLB The Show 23 Franchise Mode Discussion

When I get the game, I'm probably going to start my franchise on default All-Star. Just curious what level everyone else is starting with.

I spent all winter saying I was going to stick with 21 for another year, but I'm pretty pumped to get going on 23 now. Just a few more days.

      I’m playing on default legend

Coming from 21 to 23 I think you’re going to be thoroughly impressed

I play every fourth game.(1, 5, 9, 13, 17, etc.) Games in between those I'll turn critical moments on, and play those when they come up. That gives me about one game a series and let's me get to use all my pitchers. Once playoffs come around I play every game obviously.

Yes I did, and it's annoying. Hope it gets fixed with a patch

Also on Default Legend, but sometimes will tweak certain sliders slightly throughout the year.

I’m going to play entire Spring Training using Dynamic. Then regular season I’m going to start at All Star playing first game of each series then quick managing the rest of the series.

Cardinals take 2 of 3 from Braves in St.Louis

The Cardinals (5-1) took 2 games of a 3 game series against the Braves in St.Louis to begin the week. The Cardinals remain atop the NL Central in the very early stages.

The Cardinals won the series opener despite Miles Mikolas not having his best stuff. Mikolas would earn a no decision after leaving the game with the Cards down. But once again the bats awoke late and forced extra innings where the Cardinals would win in 10 innings with Juan Yepez driving in the game winning run. Yepez was the star of the game recording 3 hits and 3 RBI's in the Cardinals 5-4 win.

On Tuesday night, it was ugly for Steven Matz who would go just 4 innings before being pulled. Matz gave up 2 homeruns in route to 5 earned run with 2 strikeouts and 4 walks. The Cardinals trailed 8-2 going into the bottom of the ninth, and damn near did it again, but feel short 8-6.

Wednesday was get away day for both teams with the Noon first pitch. Adam Wainwright made his second start in what is strongly believed to be his final season. Waino would get the win despite only going 5 innings. The Cardinals put up 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th to take the lead and held on to it as Ryan Helsley slammed the door in the 9th.

The Cardinals will travel Thursday to Milwaukee to being a 3 game series with the Brewers.

Brewers and Dodgers made early season trade.

The Brewers and Dodgers made the first trade of the season, and very early might I add, when they swapped left handed pitchers.

The Brewers acquired Alex Vesia to bolster their bullpen. In exchange they sent starting pitcher Eric Lauer to the Dodgers, who are dealing with early season nagging injuries with their rotation. Lauer is expected to be in the rotation until the Dodgers get over the injury bug, and then he will likely be moved to the bullpen.

6-3 with the cubs. Lost the first series to the brewers 2 games to 1. Swept the reds. Just took 2 out of 3 against the Rangers. I’ve seen an injury in 3 straight games. Taillon left his start in the 4th but won’t miss a start. Patrick Wisdom got hurt the next game only out a few days. And a rangers player got hurt in my last game I didn’t check to see how long he was out.

Only have 6 home runs Wisdom has 3 of them. Dansby had a good series against Texas with 6 hits 3 doubles. Seiya struggling hitting but walking quite a bit. My pitching has been really good.

Maybe I should have put this in the QA section but I figured it'd be easier to get an answer here. But, has anyone experienced the game of the week presentation that they were talking about? Do you know it's happening before hand, like is there something on the schedule for that day signaling gotw, or do you just notice it once the presentation starts? Also, what is different about the presentation for those days?

The Cardinals have finished Spring Training with a record of 15-10 and will head to St.Louis to welcome the Blue Jays to town for Opening Day.

The best thing is the Cardinals avoided major injuries during the Spring and will be 100% healthy for opening day.

Some good battles took place, but all in all its who you would expect to make the roster that did. The biggest surprise I guess would be that Nolan Gorman will start the 2023 season in Memphis.

The Cardinals Opening Day Roster will be:

                      Rotation

                      Adam Wainwright
                      Jordan Montgomery
                      Jack Flaherty
                      Miles Mikolas
                      Steven Matz

                      Bullpen

                      Drew Van Hagen
                      Jordan Hicks
                      Genesis Cabrera
                      Anthony Mantiewicz
                      JoJo Romero
                      Giovanny Gallegos
                      Chris Stratton
                      Ryan Helsley (Closer)

                      Lineup

                      SS Tommy Edman
                      RF Dylan Carlson
                      1B Paul Goldschmidt
                      3B Nolan Arenado
                      C Willson Contreras
                      CF Tyler O'Neill
                      LF Lars Nootbaar
                      DH Juan Yepez
                      2B Brendan Donovan

                      Bench

                      C Andrew Knizner
                      IF Paul DeJong
                      IF Taylor Motter
                      OF Oscar Mercardo

Opening Day 2023 is finally upon us as the Cardinals look to win World Series title number 12.
As a Guardians fan, god bless for giving Mercado employment. I hope you find a willing trade partner soon

                        Arizona Diamondbacks Franchise

Deleted my Mets franchise before I got too far in. Just could not play with a team that is suppose to win plus when they do stupid things in real life like Sending Baty down to keep Darin Ruf I get too pissed off looking at them

So we are going with the Arizona D Backs, A team not far off from being in the wild card we feel so room to grow but not a super long road.

I am going to do something I never did and take a page from the Country book since he seems to be having so much fun. I am NOT using 30 team control for the first time ever just going to play and see how it all plays out and let it develop its own stories.

Playing on All of Fame, with Sliders for the ultimate challenge. Keeping budgets on so I have to be smart with the money. Not using any created players so no Senga or Tatis in this universe. Only roster thing I did was I took the live roster and added Yoshida and Profar from FA to the Red Sox and Rockies before uploading it into franchise since those were not created players but in the game

Played all night and this morning and got through all the spring games and here is the roster we are taking to the desert

Starting Pitchers- Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, Ryne Nelson, Madison Bumgarner, Zach Davies

Relief Pitchers- Andrew Chafin, Joe Mantiply, Miguel Castro, Kyle Nelson, Mark Melancon, Cole Sulser

                        Closer- Kevin Ginkel

Catcher- Gabriel Moreno, Carson Kelly (Was a very close spring battle they will likely split time to start season

1B- Christian Walker (Seth Beer was shaky in the spring and sent to AAA)

                        2B- Ketel Marte

                        3B- Evan Longoria, Josh Rojas

                        SS- Nick Ahmed, Geraldo Perdomo

LF- Lourdes Gurriel , Corbin Carroll

CF- Alek Thomas, Kyle Lewis (Lewis had a very good spring to win out the last roster spot over Pavin Smith)

                        RF_ Jack McCarthy

Top Prospects (We have several in the Top 50)

                        #2- Corbin Carroll
                        #10- Jordan Lawlar
                        #12- Druw Jones

We open the season right off the bat with a 6 game road trip. 4 in LA against the Dodgers and 2 in San Diego against the Padres

I have thought about just playing one game a series though, as to get the grind of the season but be able to get through about 2-3 seasons in one season worth of games.

Anyways, we've started off 1-3, the start of this season is just hell. With 8 games against the Dodgers, 6 against the Padres, and 3 against both the Brewers and Cardinals out of our first 23. But with this young roster I've already seen some hope and think we can hopefully fight for that final WC Spot!

Game 1 was a tight battle, Gallen and Kershaw absolutely dueled it out but a 3 run outburst in the 5th to make it 3-0 was too much for the D Backs and we fell 3-2

Game 2, another close one. Kelly pitched awesome, but a rain delay hurt his stamina and he had to leave after 3.2, and we would end up losing 1-0

Game 3, we never stood a shot, and Drey Jameson, one of our rookie starting pitchers just didn't have it, and we lost 7-0(Also we could not touch Gonsolin until he went out with injury midway through the ninth.

Game 4, was the game we were all waiting for! With all of the offensive struggles, we FINALLY scored some RUNS! A 10-0 pounding almost atoned for the three loses, and we now head to San Diego(4-0) for a quick 2 game set looking to hand them their first loss of the year.

(Also we somehow ended up with more hits than the Dodgers the whole series, and we miraculously did not give up a single homer to LA either!)

                          Probable Starters

                          Bumgarner v Wacha
                          Gallen (0-1, 5.40) v Musgrove (1-0, 0.00)
Did one of these last year with Arizona. Lot of fun once you get to Year 3 or so with Corbin Carroll and Co.

So far I'd say as iffy as always. I haven't really seen the adjustments they talked about in the stream regarding high potential players and the like. I was still able to get Soto for junk.

Yes the series finale against the Blue Jays on a Sunday was deemed Game of the Week. There was no indication on the schedule, but there is a special presentation package dedicated to it.

Its a scorebug, screen wipes, and Boog will mention that you're watching the Game of the Week.

Deleted my Mets franchise before I got too far in. Just could not play with a team that is suppose to win plus when they do stupid things in real life like Sending Baty down to keep Darin Ruf I get too pissed off looking at them
The first thing I’m doing when I start a franchise is releasing Ruf.
