    Re: Introduce yourself:

Michael, turned 36 in February and thought for sure I was one of the older guys.
Thank you to all the veterans and first responders in here. Love putting details to the names I've been going back and forth with since 2012 when I was searching for more info on NCAA as prior to that I was the meticulous kid renaming all his rosters by hand. Found the dynasty forum and was shocked to see people got themselves stuck in on dynasty and franchises even more than I did. Ever since then I've basically checked this forum out on a weekly basis, sometimes daily when the new game drops

I am a sports nut. Grew up in Sacramento CA and reside in Lancaster, just outside LA now.with my girlfriend and our 2 kids. Always try to get into other videpgames but quickly lose interest.
Followed the A's for the first 30 years of my life but ownership broken and given my move south and my hate for The Giants and Dodgers, I quickly dove head first into Padres Fandom. Also a Sacramento Kings and Dallas Cowboys fan. Love Liverpool FC fan as that's where my family is from.
Sacramento Kings San Diego Padres Dallas Cowboys Liverpool FC
Sactown Born, LA Living. Music in my ears, soccer ball at my feet.

      Re: Introduce yourself:

I live in Tucson, Arizona, lived in Arizona since 2008, but visited off and on in 2006 and 2007. Always wanted to move to Arizona or North Carolina, so Arizona won. I lived in Illinois most of my life, but always drawn to Phoenix, Arizona because that is my name (hint, hint). Grew up a Suns fan when Barkley was on the team, so that was one of my fascinations with Arizona, then the desert environment is cool to me, and I love westerns.

I have been a freelance writer/copywriter since 2009, when working at home was unheard of or bizarre. Funny how things change, now everyone wants to do it. I knew I would be a freelancer because of my personality and my value on freedom and independence.

I am Black, turning 40 in December of this year, and I still can't believe it. Baseball is my favorite sport, and I made up a fictional baseball player on 3B named Chucky Foster in 1990, he was that generation's Jackie Robinson lol, but better. Toronto Blue Jays were my first favorite team, then the LA Dodgers.

I stopped watching baseball in the 2000s for some reason, but began to follow again when I heard of this guy named Bryce Harper, so the Nationals became my favorite team from 2012 to 2019. Yes, Harper leaving pissed me off, and I was back to being a Dodger fan in that spam again anyway, so I said I will be a full-time Dodgers fan again if he leaves, so it was the best decision ever.

My cousin sent me a picture of us as kids in 2017, I was donning the LA Dodgers blue cap, so that is proof I wasn't a bandwagoner, so it felt good to be okay with switching teams.

Being a freelancer has its benefits. It took me six or more months to finish one season on MLB games. Now? Two or two and a half months. I can finish multiple seasons in a cycle. I love playing this game so I will play as much as possible, but I don't play it all day, of course.

              Re: Introduce yourself:

I cannot believe I have been on these boards for 20 years.

Grew up in NE Ohio and was raised with a baseball in my hand. My grandfather played in the minors and my dad's career was interrupted by Vietnam. So, I was supposed to be the one who made it. I did not make it. I loved the game. My dad built me a ballfield in the big field next to our house. It had a backstop and bases. He'd pitch to me out there and try to cure me of my fear of getting hit. It never happened. I'd cut out box scores from the newspaper and replay them as imagined them happening by tossing the ball into the air with my left hand, then grabbing the bat I was holding in the my right hand and then smacking the ball where ever I could.

When it was raining or snowing, I was playing Ken Griffey Jr baseball for the SNES.

Once I realized baseball wasn't my sport and I started running cross country and track, the game faded away a bit. In the early 2000s I fell back in love with baseball by grabbing cheap tickets at PNC Park and watching ****ty Pirates teams. Then they went and drafted my college's best player! John VanBenschoten. I was sure he would be the greatest. I immediately rushed him to the majors in High Heat 2003.

Those High Heat games changed my life in a way. I fell in love with PC baseball games and when EA started making the MVP series a new hobby was born. I started modding the parks in the games and it became a labor of love. There was an incredible community at MVP Mods and I spent so much free time editing parks that I never played the games.

Eventually, I married, moved all over the country (Arizona, Indiana, and now NC) and the 2005 game grew stale. I found myself playing The Show 09 while snuggling my first-born. Now he's 15 and modding Minecraft and creating shaders for other games.

I'll likely pick up the basic copy of The Show again this year after taking last year off and picking a team to fight through a season with (Blue Jays?). It's been a pleasure being a part of this community.

                  Re: Introduce yourself:

I'm thaSLAB, according to my social media tags... My nickname amongst my family is Champ. My real life initials are actually MLB, or as my wife would say, "more like MiLB" (the first two letters of my first name, plus middle and last). [emoji23] A little background on my avatar, growing up in Detroit, me and a group of close friends aspired to be Automotive Engineers because Detroit. So we started referring to ourselves as AutoBots and it sort of stuck. Actually, I don't think I've ever explained that online... [emoji848]

Ive been on OS a little over 16 years now. I was more than likely looking for rosters.

I'm a longtime baseball fan, who played baseball through high school. Although baseball is by far my favorite sport, I was considered a better football player, which I played (or should say, I was on the team) for 2 years collegiately. I played in a 35+/40+ leagues up until 2021. I've been recently considering returning.

I'm old enough to have a 30 y/o son, but young enough to have a 5 month old daughter. No more details to offer lol.

I was fortunate to have my NIL included in MLB The Show for a few years in the mid 2010s, as a part of the SDS community crew. Got to get my head scanned during one of the visits, which was cool. And it was cool seeing and showing off my name in the credits. I coached little league baseball for about 10 years as well.

Professionally, I am an Engineer/Geophysicist who has worked in the Automotive, Aerospace & Defense, and currently the Energy Industry.

People at work and close personal friends consider me a baseball historian of sorts. It's really that I'm a huge fan of the game, with a decent memory and a love for the mathematics.

First time logging on in a while and just saw this. Great idea!

I’m 48. Was born, raised, and still live in San Diego. I’m a business analyst in the banking industry. I grew up going to Padres games at Jack Murphy Stadium and Tony Gwynn was my hero. I actually got to have lunch with him at a McDonald’s when I was 10 years old. The most randomly awesome thing that I experienced as a kid. My older brother who I idolized was also a Yankees fan (he loved Dave Winfield) and that’s where my love for the Yankees came from.

I’ve been playing sports games since the original Nintendo, but primarily stick to MLB The Show these days. Some of my favorite baseball gaming moments were playing through a 162-game season for the first time on World Series Baseball ‘95 for the Sega Genesis, all-night head to heads with friends on MVP Baseball 2005, and pitching my first no-no on MLB The Show 20. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Luis Severino because of that.

I am total devotee to the clean screen/classic pitching style of play that I want to thank Armor for introducing me to through these boards several years ago.

Hey y'all, I'm Archie. Been a member here at OS since 2009. I'm 44 yrs old, married to a beautiful wife and have a perfect little girl. I'm a baseball fanatic, have been since I was a kid. 10 years ago I was diagnosed with a tick disease that almost killed me. I've been rocking the stay at home dad thing for 4 years now bc of my chronic illness. I also sing, play guitar, write my own music. I'm a huge gamer and even though The Show is my favorite game, my all time favorite franchise has to be Uncharted. Hope everyone has fun this year playing the game!

I turned 60 this year. I love this thread because I figured I had to be the oldest dude here. Haha!

I've live in So Cal since 2011 but have lived in a lot of different locations, including Hawaii. I remember going to Spring Training in Tucson and raising home for the newest edition of High Heat and then MLB The Show. Great times/memories .

I recently retired from 22 years in higher education (faculty and administration). I created a college course on The History of Disneyland, wrote a couple of best-selling books, and now travel the country writing and speaking full-time.

Heading to Chicago in July and looking forward to seeing the Cubs again at Wrigley Field.

                          Good evening gents,

GoodyBucs is my nickname Goody and my love of the TB Buccaneers. I've been a member since 2003. I'm a 50 year old first grade teacher residing in Phoenix. I stand 6' 6" and weigh 275 pounds and no, the little ones are not scared of me

My biggest love is baseball but I also religiously watch the NFL and the Dallas Mavericks. I love fantasy sports and commish many leagues. Back to baseball, I played growing up and into college and my chances to go further were there except for an odd injury to my pitching shoulder that was supposedly corrected but truly never the same.

I've been playing these games we love back to the Atari and Intellivison baseball. I got the Nintendo and never looked back (even though that original generic baseball game was lame.) I suffered like many of us through the years of Xbox only having that horrible 2K baseball games and absolutely loved MVP baseball but shifted to PS3 just because The Show looked so awesome to me. For all the youngsters here that have a fuss or two I strongly remember the year (but not the game) when lefthanded hitters literally could NOT hit a HR. Nothing tops that for a tough season.

I now play this, Madden and dabble a bit with NBA 2K because I really like going back and playing the teams of my high school and college years. I truly wish The Show would find a way to do something like having the rosters and old parks for a specific season would be awesome. I say they put out the 1964 season with Koufax rolling and huge stars like Mays and Aaron in their heyday... Just my 2¢

The game is an hour away and at 50 I feel as excited as a 12 year getting a box of the new season of baseball cards! So as Brady puts it, LFG!
