I was not expecting this much of a leap. Game looks awesome.

Repeating what I said at the end of my post-as-i-watch: There are still signs of programs and equipment tied to RTTS (as shown in the dynamic challenges). Base gains (rating increases/decreases tied to performance) still matter too, as I could see them popping up behind the superimposed logo as various events played out.

Temper your expectations for tonight accordingly.

Mad props to audio. In the clip showing off quick time events at first base, when the 1B boots the hop, the crowd gets noticeably louder.

I was as skeptical as anyone coming into this year given the recent history and lack of transparency. I must say I am impressed. Also excited!

Nice to see shader improvements. They were desperately needed. I guess they were keeping them away from us all the time because the released screenshots definitely did not show this improvement. I mean, this, this here looks like a PS2 or PS3 game.

The improved faces they showed actually look more like graphics from a modern game. Nothing cutting edge, but definitely an improvement over where we've been the past decade just about. I do wonder if any enhancements will come to the actual player models themselves this year or next. That's the next major step that HAS to be done.

My only worry, that would be answered if I downlaoded the gameplay and watched it, is whether or not these shader improvements can be seen from basic gameplay angles. They are all for naught if they are only visible within the menu or a very zoomed in angle from the replay system.

I'm a bit perplexed why they waited so long to reveal this information. It's pretty standard these days to lead off with graphical improvements when showcasing game, then getting into the features as you approach the release. SDS obviously did that in the opposite order and some of the heat they got could have been avoided if they had done it the more common way.

This is a nice step forward for the graphics. By no means is it close to enough to get this game looking like a modern AAA title, but it is a step in the right direction. I am interested in seeing what lighting improvements have been made. We still desperately need all around texture resolution improvements, player body model improvements, and a complete overhaul to how they render grass. Then, the game begins to look like a current gen title.

Totally feel the same. If this news was the lead as opposed to storylines, the narrative surrounding this cycle would be radically different. This is now the best I’ve felt about the direction of the series since ‘20. I’ve got to give it to SDS, this looks really good.

OMG! Now I know why all the previous gameplay footage had the "work in progress" watermark showing...

For a few seconds looking at the Vladdy Jr. MLBTS24 comparison, I thought it was his actual photograph!

I'm blown away and this makes the 16 to 17 player face graphical update look like a joke in comparison!

As many have said, the marketing seemed to be behind the curve this cycle. Or maybe I know nothing about marketing (highly likely).
Speaking of player models, they have updated them or added additional models... You can tell when watch the RTTS teasers... The women models are definitely new and nothing we've had in the game previously, which makes all the sense in the world.

We'll see if any of the male models are different or improved

For me when it comes to presentation enhancements, I’m really hoping the stadium exterior shots have been included for all MLB teams this year and they have also expanded the number of exterior shots for each stadium. Bringing back an on-field reporter to give updates throughout the game would also be nice.

The 20 minute downloadable gameplay video also appears to have different atmospheric lighting for time of day. Very cool. Hopefully hdr has been optimized as well.

That reminds me - the sunset at 8:36 REALLY stands out.

Hey all, I’ve felt like many of you this whole time from reading this thread but man this is nice to see-why they didn’t lead with this is baffling. But I’ll take it!!

Question-all the clips we saw of negro league etc, those guys faces don’t have any of this-was that on purpose? Is that an older build? Did they not want to give it away but then took tons of criticism? I’m confused

Maybe the lighting model was still in development as the marketing campaign kicked off? I can understand that the studio may not want to reveal it in case there were rendering problems down the road. Not sure of this or anything but it could possibly explain it.
