Is this really necessary? People are still allowed to express disappointment. I'll admit that even though the new faces do appear much improved, the overall look of the game as shown in that video does still leave a lot to be desired.

The faces look great in those screenshots, I really hope it’s noticeable on the field.
I’m only able to watch the video on my phone because I’m at work, but does the lighting in the stadiums look different as well?
The game still doesn’t look next gen to me, but those two changes are absolutely a step in the right direction.Comment

MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
The dusk to evening/night lighting seems slightly better. Daytime looks the same to me.
Clothes and the field are now so long overdue that if it’s not happening when they ditch the old gen (hopefully) next year it’s never going to happen.
I don’t know much about graphic templates but at this point I think it’s basically impossible for the ones they’ve been using to open up a few buttons. Also chains free floating (like the hair this year) would already make it look so much more alive if you ask me.Last edited by LastActionHero; 03-07-2024, 01:27 PM."When it's all set and done, reality is the best innovation."Comment

MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
I’m hoping they talk franchise and the changes made. Also curious to see presentation updates.
I appreciate what they did with player faces and the sky/lighting but as I’ve mentioned before, I’m not concerned with graphics.
And while I like the changes to gameplay mentioned, I’m concerned with how the disengagement rule and pitch clock will work with the CPU and think it’s going to be similar to challenging calls and balks in that it’s only relevant to the USER.
I guess im looking for something “more” to excite me to start a franchise over again.

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
Why are people so concerned over pitch clock?
When has the Show ever had a problem pitching the ball within the :30 second amount? I feel they throw the next pitch relatively quickly.
Do people want pitchers to take longer between pitches? I guess I am confused.
Even the :15 second with a runner on would never be a problem.
The disengagements by the pitcher I get.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
But it is just one step, and they have to continue to make steps of this level to get the game where it should be in the modern graphics space. And I'm not sure SDS has earned the benefit of the doubt in that regard, considering this is the 4th release on the current gen, and only the first real current-gen visual enhancement. So far I like what they did this year. But it needs to continue at this pace going forward in future releases.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
I initially said the faces look better and I still think that.
But after watching the video of gameplay, nothing in it moved the needle for me. At this point, I need to see some significant changes to franchise to even warrant a late cycle buy for me.
The thing I think about with the faces is if this was something they could have started a few years back would we see more progress in graphics. Graphics are an important part to this game as well as gameplay and franchise mode for me . But I can't deny it is starting to get hard to look at the grass and dirt textures and not think what could be as opposed to what is.Funkycorm

Re: MLB The Show 24 Impact Plays and Improvements to Player Faces
I first thought a pitch clock timer wouldn’t be needed or wanted. But the more I think of it, it would matter to me if maybe I’m trying to decide on what pitch to throw and where you want to throw it in a big spot. Maybe you are browsing the hitter’s quirks to see what they are. Then maybe you look over to the runner to make sure he doesn’t have a big lead. So all that will take time and you have to watch for the clock.
I don’t think you can really have a batter clock.Follow me on Twitch
