This was also my largest issue. I could’ve looked past the Ks tbh but every game I was giving up less than 2 runs. I use pinpoint, but no matter what pitching mechanic I used, meatballs and mistakes weren’t punished (even with timing and contact up to 10). I haven’t played too much offline yet, but they seem to do more damage this year.

Offense is much better in 24. Definitely get punished for mistakes. I have a better mix of games this year though. I definitely still have games where my pitcher dominates, but I have a lot of games where I give up a bunch of runs too. My first 3 series of the season in franchise was against the Astros, DBacks, and Blue Jays. My ERA was almost 5 after facing those 3. It dipped afterward when I faced some lesser offensive teams. More or less this year, when I face a really good team, they are hard games and wins really feel earned. This was also my largest issue. The more I’m experimenting with sliders either Dir/Classic or Zone/Meter the more I’m leaning to a default all. I tried pretty much all different sliders set out there but I the end I find out something around defaults is the best.12 games played post patch.

I use timing hitting/pinpoint pitching, both on HOF/Competitive, default sliders.
I've went from 10.5 games up in the NL Central to just 3 games up in just one month due to pinpoint pitching being much harder for me on COMP game mode.Comment

There's no doubt that this patch broke this game for me. All of a sudden, using the exact same settings and sliders, hitting has become impossible and the AI is having multiple 8+ pitch at-bats against me per inning that nearly always results in them getting a hit. I just reached 100+ pitches in my last game through 4 innings.

How many games have you played? Also is this in franchise? There's no doubt that this patch broke this game for me. Re: MLB The Show 24 Patch #12 Adjusts Foul Ball Rate, Fixes CPU Trade Bug and More -
Well I am back from vacation and FINALLY got a game in. And absolutely this is a problem again smh. I got 12 strikeouts with Frankie Montas in 6 innings. I only got 2 with my relievers for 14 total, but yeah there is a noticeable change imo.
I didn't have a single at bat where they went 8-10 pitches. Before, that happened a decent amount each game. I NEED that to limit my Ks. Last year was atrocious and completely broke the game. This is only one game, but I know what I feel and it doesn't feel good. Also, this was vs the Braves and game #102 in my franchise. No way I should get 12ks with Montas vs Atlanta. Just should not happen, ever. And 14 total is now my highest of the season in games I played. Braves only had 6 hits and scored one measley run from a homerun. In my franchise they are 1st in MLB in runs scored.
I am so disappointed and frustrated they would do this AGAIN! They said it was only for competitive/online play last year which we know was not true. No reason now to believe this didn't also effect simulation mode on an offline franchise.
Bryan said he is averaging 11-14 since patch and we play similar style and have sliders we put together. So there is no reason to believe I won't average the same. I have 8.44 Ks/game pre patch. And that is 68 games played. Perfect! That rises 3-5 more per game? CPU offense becomes lackluster and it completely breaks the game again for me. What a joke!

Re: MLB The Show 24 Patch #12 Adjusts Foul Ball Rate, Fixes CPU Trade Bug and More -
I've played more than 20 games since the patch and it's definitely become more noticeable the more I have played. I actually bumped the foul slider for the CPU up to 6. I wasn't seeing all that many more strikeouts, but I was noticing it seemed like the ball was being put into play earlier in bats, on balls that would have been fouled before. They weren't hits but were turning into easy outs, which makes me think it effected more than just swings and misses. I was getting to the 5th and 6th inning with only 40 something pitches thrown. Pre patch it was rare, and difficult to get a pitcher through 7. Now I can do it with plenty of stamina left. At least it doesn't seem like the weak CPU offense from last year has returned, as I still give up a realistic amount of runs. Upping the foul slider has seemed to fix the issue. Why they felt the need to tinker with gameplay this long after release, I don't know. But I hope they leave it alone from this point forward.Well I am back from vacation and FINALLY got a game in. Re: MLB The Show 24 Patch #12 Adjusts Foul Ball Rate, Fixes CPU Trade Bug and More -
The problem is if I am going to get 12 strikeouts a game on average now, and upwards close to 20 at times like last year. That alone effectively does cause CPU offense to be lackluster, just like 2023. I guess we will tinker with sliders again, even though we had them locked in forever now. But IDK if anything can be done when they game code it in to not foul off as many pitches as they did before. Gone are the 10+ pitch at bats for the CPU now. That really hurts their ability to create offense. More importantly, create rallies and score more than just one or two innings in a game.I've played more than 20 games since the patch and it's definitely become more noticeable the more I have played. I actually bumped the foul slider for the CPU up to 6. I wasn't seeing all that many more strikeouts, but I was noticing it seemed like the ball was being put into play earlier in bats, on balls that would have been fouled before. When I know I have a high chance of a strikeout when they start a possible rally I am never afraid to pitch to anyone. Beforehand, certain guys I was deathly afraid of cause they would foul off pitch after pitch, then bam! Smacks my cutter I leave up over the plate for some rbis. That fear is no longer there now and I can pitch the same way to everyone (not very carefully), knowing I'm getting at least 1-2K per inning easily.
With that said it was only one game. Playing game now and got 9K in 5.1ip with Lodolo though. So it does seem like strikeouts will increase with this patch. But ot certainly doesn't feel as bad as last year. Regardless it is frustrating they mess with gameplay so late into season.Last edited by DarthRambo; 06-23-2024, 07:57 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 24 Patch #12 Adjusts Foul Ball Rate, Fixes CPU Trade Bug and More -
I'm sure it is more difficult to achieve than said. But instead of reducing fouls by creating more swing and misses, they just need to have some of those fouled off pitches become weak groundouts, pop ups, etc. Just create more balls in play rather than increasing swing and misses.
I finished latest game with 15 strikeouts in a 10 inning game. Just way too high once again IMO. Why would they lie and say competitive mode only effected? Clearly that is not true. I'm about to shelf the game and look forward to CFB cause this really does break the game for me. I can't average 12-15 Ks per game all of a sudden when I was at 8K average the entire season up to this point. Makes the game very boring to play.Last edited by DarthRambo; 06-23-2024, 08:11 PM.Comment
