Glad I have 100's of games I still enjoy across many console generations and I will be able to play till the end of my days.

I don't sweat the small stuff. I literally have everything I need and buying MLB The Show 25 for me is simply a luxury.....not a necessity. At my age.....I don't give much of a crap anymore about the lack of this or that....I got over that years ago.

If the game plays really great....I am good to go.
Man this is me. I just enjoy, I don't look for imperfections too hard unless something is completely broken.

They want "engagement" for the "brand", which really means they want more of your money in the form of multiple overpriced variations of the game, card packs, etc.. They want a monetary IV drip hooked up to your wallet.

The sports gaming industry no longer cares for my measly $70. I am some relic from days past.

I want to play 7 inning games. I want to play less than 162 games in a season. I want my own music and sounds in the game again. I want a stadium atmosphere with things like crowd chants and organ music. I want something that feels fresh and fun. I don't care if they triple the number of blades of grass n the field or if a 99 OVR card of a player is released for a mode I'll never play.

It's a sad reality that with so much technology and how big the gaming industry has become that there no place for a sports gamer like me anymore. It's either stick with '22 or move back to SMB or MLB 2k13.
Not being a jerk here, genuinely curious why you would want to play 7 innings games? It's like only wanting to play 3 quarter long football games.

Also, you don't have to play 162, they've added a lot of options for simming games, and quick managing games if you don't want to play all 162.

Also, there are some chants and organ music in the game. Just trying to help.

        - graphical enhancement for PS5 and not XBox? T/F?
        - presentation enhancements - i.e. do all MLB ball parks get exterior shots?
        - situation with the A's and Rays stadiums in the game?
        - legacy issues - did the crooked top of the St Louis Gateway Arch
        finally get addressed?
I'm VERY concerned about the PS5 and Xbox graphical enhancement discrepancy and I'm not sure why people aren't raising more questions about it.

While I respect those that "just play and don't look for issues" per se, I don't think in 2025 it's unreasonable to expect real innovation. The sad, but likely truth, is that management is driving the direction of most games now, and profit comes first, without a close second. In the past it (seemed at least) that there was some balance, with the passion behind putting out the best product being right up there.

          It's not just gaming, sadly.

We can and should expect more.

It's not so much that. It's attention span.

Most of the new generation (remember we are Jurassic Park here at OS) don't have the patience to sit down and play a game. They are way too busy snapping photos, Snap Chatting and swiping their screen going from 20 second video to 20 second video on Tik Tock or Instagram.

An epidemic is in full force around the world let alone North America. And it's an unstoppable force that has changed the way people communicate....HORRIBLY with each other.

So like I said.....glad I have my toys because I love playing video games, all kinds for that matter not just sports. I have plenty to keep me happy forever.

These days? It's the new dying art to make a great video game.....just like the dying art of the guitar solo.....it's yesteryear already.....eventually console gaming will be pretty dead. The path to that is happening right now before our eyes IMO.

So enjoy what you got....embrace what is to come because it won't last a lot longer.....not if the ROI continues to drop at the rate is has the last few years.

It's a business. And if it's not profitable it will certainly become extinct.

I totally get what you're saying. I do think some (like me) really enjoy the product and play the crap out of it, and others don't because they want improvements so they don't buy it. Both sides are correct. I've bought other games that I don't like, and end up not playing. So, its just that simple. It's perfectly okay to expect more. The game certainly isn't flawless in my opinion.

I totally agree about a lot of what you said (Armor, thought I quoted you), especially about the lack of communication. And even the skills to communicate, not just desire. Sad state of affairs if things don't change.

But, if this article is correct, and I assume it is, the show made $100,000,000 in 2023. Which leaves no reason for lack of resources/innovation.

According to the LinkedIn of a former PlayStation marketing director, MLB The Show makes over $100 million annually for the Japanese company.

There's only going to be speculation on here and I don't believe there's anyone that will have a concrete answer for that right now.

Don't get me wrong, I love the game. That's why I so passionately see what could be with a little TLC. I played 226 franchise games, 221 RTTS, as well as many other modes in MLBTS 24, so my criticism comes from a place of love.

I know my numbers are rookie numbers compared to some on here. lol

I would venture to say and I am not making a fact based statement here that 70-75% of that is eaten by development, marketing, royalty, licensing costs.

Cool, cool. I have zero issues with The Shows graphics or gameplay. My thing is immersion now. I'll have to wait on that front. I do like college being RTS. I'll definitely give that a spin. Those aluminum bats sound dope. I want to hear more about the GM stuff. I have been playing exclusively on Gamepass the past few years but I am happy to plop my 70$ down this year.

I bought the ps4 pro and was pretty satisfied with the additional graphic upgrades. But for the ps5 pro I will probably not buy. I fully satisfied with the graphics on my ps5. I mostly just play sports games. Although it would be nice to see the ps5 pro for cfb 25

I thought I was going to blow a gasket when MLBTS18 came out and season mode was removed but what I would do now if I only wanted to play, say six innings or so, is sim maybe the second and fifth innings, play the rest. I know some people need to feel they were in control for every stat that exists in game, but one thing I love about baseball (and football) is its going to take a helluva lot more than just one man to make a championship year. And by randomly simming here and there, it adds to the immersion experience by having to depend on your teammates to pick you up when you don't succeed yourself. And sometimes my teammates let me down. Just like IRL baseball. Its the exact reason I like to play with auto fielding on. I'm the pitcher, and I can't realistically expect to strikeout 27 batters. As the pitcher I have to rely on my fielders behind me to get her done. I don't mean that as a knock on anyone who wants to be responsible for every pitch offensively and defensively of every inning of all 162 games. I guess my main point is I didn't need season mode nearly as much as I thought I did seven years ago. There are plenty options I have available in a full franchise to get a quick season in when I don't want to play all 162.

I just remembered this is the only sports game I can think of where you cannot play a season/franchise with your friends online.

                                Totally inexcusable to me.
