Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Trailer
Got a ps5 pro yesterday. I wasn't expecting a huge difference from the base ps5 but I was wrong. College football looks so much better and plays better. I was hoping to see more graphical improvements but based off of college football, I'm excited for the show on the pro. I also think if they redo a lot of the animations, especially the running, the game will feel fresh. Also, optimistic about "ShowTech" and the audio enhancements.
You can trade in/sell your base ps5 for $300. I don't know why people think they have to pay the full $700.
If we only get the updated grass and dirt on the PS5 Pro I think that would not be a very good look for SDS. I mean I think MLB The Show has yet to use most of the PS5 specs from the way the graphics still look. So if it were to be exclusive to the Pro then I have no doubt that they are doing this to sell more PS5 Pro's! And that would be giving all PS5 base model owners the middle finger as far as I am concerned.Last edited by tnixen; 02-05-2025, 10:38 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Trailer
At this point I think something like that would be justified. It's not just a hand full of people that are frustrated with the game being stuck for the last decade. You can look at what people are saying across every platform, and reactions are more negative than positive. It isn't just here. At some point they're going to have to acknowledge it.Last edited by bronxbombers21325; 02-05-2025, 10:45 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Trailer
So, I'm really not putting too much thought into the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" phrase here.
With that being said, the fact that the PSN listing for 25 mentions "Visual Improvements...when you play on a PS5® console" but does not specifically state that it has to be a PS5 Pro console gives me hope that base PS5 is getting these graphical improvements.
Typically Sony would differentiate between PS5 and PS5 Pro in cases like this as it would advertise or market to customers why they should upgrade to the PS5 Pro console.
Here's the language from the PSN listing below:
Visual Improvements:
- Appreciate incredible high fidelity when you play on a PS5® console – including updated dirt and grass, combined with real-time physics, making for an advanced level of detail.Comment

This isn't something SDS typically does as we know. They like to instead focus on the Deep Dives and the Features Premieres to divulge information leading up to release.

Youtuber Emmdotfrisk did an interview back before the release of MLBTS22 with then Creative Director Nick Livingston (link below). Another interview such as this where specific questions can be asked and answered, and we can kind of get an understanding about the devs thinking and goals for the series would be a great watch!

Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Trailer
I understand that it says "PS5 Pro Enhanced" on the PSN listing. My $0.02 is that Sony is gonna make sure that all game listings are going to have "PS5 Pro Enhanced" whether there is a specific patch for said game or not. If a game doesn't have a specific patch for PS5 Pro, then it should/could still be "enhanced" with better or more stable frame rates (much like PS4 Pro running PS4 games).
So, I'm really not putting too much thought into the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" phrase here.

Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Trailer
The problem is a lot of people can't ask questions, or interact with them in a civil manner. Too many go to "they're lazy" or "they're incompetent" or those types of things, to the point where they just won't interact with the community anymore. Honestly I don't blame them. There's no reason to get personal, but of course that's the world we live in now. Social media has gotten too many people comfortable with saying whatever they want behind the comfort of a keyboard or phone screen. I don't think they're lazy or incompetent, but there is SOMETHING that has been holding back progress for the last decade, that's undeniable at this point. All you have to do is look at other sports titles to see it. Like I said, I wish they'd at least acknowledge the elephant in the room. I do wish they'd do some sort of QA with us, but at the same time I understand why they don't.
But I think if Steve or Chase did the interview one on one as a YouTube sort of thing it would be a safe environment for SDS. I would not want the interview to be live where folks could comment and say all sorts of bad wise *** things like you see in so many live interviews. It should be one on one, recorded, then released. I don't see the harm in this and it would also give SDS another chance to market their new release and talk about those features they want to advertise.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Trailer
A little transparency would go a long ways…come out and tell us the graphics situation…it’s been said before that people are still gonna buy the game regardless…at least let us know what the hold up is…I may be completely wrong but when Y2Y saves was removed didn’t someone from SDS explain why they had to take it out from a programming standpoint pointComment

Some can take no Gamepass but to stick it to Xbox users this way and no sales should happen then. That would be pretty screwed up since XSX certainly has the capability to be included in these enhancements.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Trailer
I'm an offline, exhibition\season\franchise player. I no longer matter one bit to the companies making sports games.
Every franchise is the same story. Focus on those willing to "subscribe" to your product. They don't want my $70 and then see me disappear while I go play the game. They want "engagement" for the "brand", which really means they want more of your money in the form of multiple overpriced variations of the game, card packs, etc.. They want a monetary IV drip hooked up to your wallet.
The sports gaming industry no longer cares for my measly $70. I am some relic from days past.
I want to play 7 inning games. I want to play less than 162 games in a season. I want my own music and sounds in the game again. I want a stadium atmosphere with things like crowd chants and organ music. I want something that feels fresh and fun. I don't care if they triple the number of blades of grass n the field or if a 99 OVR card of a player is released for a mode I'll never play.
It's a sad reality that with so much technology and how big the gaming industry has become that there no place for a sports gamer like me anymore. It's either stick with '22 or move back to SMB or MLB 2k13.
People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Re: MLB The Show 25 Gameplay Trailer
The hard part is that the incentive isn't there. If they do an interview, it needs to be in a highly visible place and be carefully answered.
The vocal minority here, on reddit, X, and their forums are that. The vocal minority. The silent majority buy the game and enjoy it and never say a word. Them coming out and admitting to being behind would anger their silent majority and honestly would not make sense.
Their target demographic is the DD players and the twitch streamers who spend a few hundred and more on cards. But those high volume streamers make more than that back in streaming so it also makes no sense to anger them.
I was surprised by the interview 3 years ago actually but I don't think we are another interview like that for a while, if ever.Funkycorm

Console gaming is not a growing business right now. And if the trend continues it can turn into a loss leader.
Glad I have 100's of games I still enjoy across many console generations and I will be able to play till the end of my days.
I don't sweat the small stuff. I literally have everything I need and buying MLB The Show 25 for me is simply a luxury.....not a necessity. At my age.....I don't give much of a crap anymore about the lack of this or that....I got over that years ago.
If the game plays really great....I am good to go.Now Playing on PS5:

MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1

You know it's weird people say gacha modes make so much money and that is why offline is ignored..... yet console gaming is seemingly the least healthy it has been in decades. Things were seemingly healthier before online gacha slop infected games.Comment
