Only (potential) downside is that the Rockies extended him so he's signed for a few more seasons if I remember right, so it's a bit of a commitment.

Thanks! I thought about McMahon, but wanted to keep it relatively realistic. As you say, he signed an extension recently. I guess I could overpay

I could easily see him bouncing back to a halfway decent pitcher and potentially extending him after the 25 season, but he'll rot with ARZ being pushed out of the rotation. I'll have to get into the game and poke around the Nats AAA to see what sort of a fringe upper minors guy or two i could send back to them that would make sense.
Looking at the D'Backs depth chart, if I'm them, I probably want a reliever or a depth starter back...basically just pitching depth one way or another. I look at Monty kind of like I look at Stroman...there was all this drama in NY with him at the start of Spring training (SHOCKING!) because there wasn't a spot in the rotation for him, then whammo...2 starters go down and all of the sudden he's in the 4 spot. So, basically just depth coming back!

        Braves Receive:
        Bo Bichette

        Blue Jays Receive:
        Cam Caminiti (MLB 88th prospect)
Nacho Alvarez Jr. (Braves #5 prospect)
        Lucas Braun (Braves #11 prospect)

Bo is a rental, one elite prospect and two pretty good prospects should get this done. This also makes the Blue Jays rebuild, instead of trying to compete when they shouldn't be (imo).

        ------

        Braves Receive:
        Ezequiel Tovar
        Jake Bird

        Rockies Receive:
        Drake Baldwin (MLB 62nd prospect)
        Cam Caminiti (MLB 88th prospect)
Nacho Alvarez Jr. (Braves #5 prospect)
        Dylan Dodd

Through age 29 in 2031 you will have Tovar at a pretty reasonable, cheap, price. It'll cost more. $187m value, assuming he is a 4 WAR player.

Ahhh...here we go. Nice to see this rolling again. I like the Bichette deal. I believe I'm going to go that route and see if he can bounce back from last season. Thanks again. Super fun thread to follow in the hypothetical world of sports and gaming.

My thought exactly. ARZ's position player stock is pretty solid. But everyone needs pitching. I'll probably end up sending a mlb-ish level reliever and a AAA starter who could be decent but i don't see myself using. Ill try to post the trade here once I pull the trigger.

If this is too unrealistic, I apologize and I'll delete it, if I can. But let's say Ronald Acuna Jr DEMANDED a trade out of Atlanta for some reason. Maybe he doesn't like their doctors or something. And then he said mean hurtful things about Alex Anthopolous' dog (does he even have a dog?) and tried to feed it chocolate, so Alex was like "fine, this guy has to go. Let's trade him for the biggest haul we can before he tears another ACL".

What would Atlanta want? They seemingly have everything and everyone locked in. I'd guess a stud, cost-controlled MLB OFer to replace him, a stud cost-controlled MLB SS, and a haul of top prospects on top of that? I don't think they need pitching. Or maybe they do.

I'd like to acquire him in the Show because he's fun but in all likelihood, won't, because there's about a 0% chance of it happening in real life and setting that aside, hard to conceive of a return that even makes sense.

I'm interested in hearing what the experts have to say, but since I'm no expert, I'll say if Anthopolous trades Acuna, he's going to want a new dog after his old dog eats that chocolate, because he's going to need a bestfriend in Atlanta, a friend, any friend, after he trades Acuna.

This would never fly in Seattle. They aren't taking on his remaining 2/$31MM + $2MM '27 buyout (unless you pick up his $15.75MM option) and pay a $500k trade bonus while giving us a SP prospect. Keep in mind McNeil is almost 33 (next month) and coming off a year where he hit .241 /.313 /.379 with that contract remaining. Baseballsavant also has him in the 45th percentile for fielding and virtually all his hitting metrics sub 25th percentile. Very bad trade for Seattle.

Even if you packaged with Batty, McNeil's performance/contract is currently at the state where you attach a prospect and would need to eat half the money without a return. Make sure to keep an eye out for what the other team needs/what's.

Just to see how the old MLBTS24 logic worked in this scenario, Detroit offered me Casey Mize in exchange for McNeil and Baty. If the same deal is accepted in 25, realistic or not, its gonna be hard for me not to take it, whether I'm fleecing the CPU or not.

What's amusing to me about this thread is the contrast between those of use who are careful not to rip off the cpu and those who are upset because their are only 3 trade slots. They want more trade slots so they can rip off the cpu even worse.

They need bats, they need a second baseman. If you can do that by sending someone who will never reach MLB to the other team, anyone would do that.

Take $$$ and team out of it for this specific trade.

Using the Cardinals, thinking I'm going to move Arenado in spring training before my 1st season starts. The teams that are speculated (Yankees, Dodgers, Astros) don't have the money to take him. Was thinking maybe Detroit, Washington, or Minnesota even though I don't think he would waive his NTC to go to any of those IRL. Was thinking get 2-3 higher C level potential guys or maybe 1 B.

Anyone got any good trade ideas for Nado?

Also, might move one of Gray, Matz or Mikolas because I want to start with Matthews or Hence in the rotation. Matz or Mikolas would be cash dumps but any decent ideas on places to move Gray to that would make some sense IRL?

Yaaaaaa, something tells me that while the trade logic has been featured as an "improved" model (for the umpteenth straight year), it's still going to have some warts.

Not sure if you play on 30 team control or not, but I'd think a Cease trade before the season would mirror the Corbin Burnes trade from last year...So, couple of higher-end/MLB ready prospects (Ortiz/DL Hall-7th and 8th in a loaded O's system at the end of 2023), and a lotto ticket (Was a competitive balance pick).

                              Just as an example...

                              SDP: Cease
                              Cubbies: Caissie+Triantos+Wicks (?)

Kind of goes on the assumption that the Cubs will do their best to extend Kyle Tucker, which would keep their outfield full long term with PCA/Tucker/Happ/Suzuki.

While the Cubs giving up their 3rd and 5th best prospects would hurt, the Cubs *SHOULD* be desperate to upgrade their team, considering what they spent to get Tucker.

Starting a franchise as the Reds and we’ve been lacking in the OF for years. Who is a realistic Of that could be moved this year? I know we had discussions about Luis Robert but the price was way too steep.
