Re: How to defend against exploits in DD
I've decided that's a feature, not a bug: pre-loading your throw is actually pre-loading a nap.Comment

I have been gunning down runners from CF by pre-loading my throws.....works like butter for me on urgent throws home. Now Playing on PS5:

Re: How to defend against exploits in DD
Played some schmohawk who took double tap leads and the game would not pick him off. He could basically walk to 2B. I got him once at 2B on a leadoff though.
What gives?
Funny thing, I beat him in the bottom of the 9th by using his own antics.@MikeLowe47 | YouTube | Discord

Re: How to defend against exploits in DD
I have great outfielders. Switch between Batista, marte, bichette, Finley, Harper and Floyd. I don't think I'm doing too bad. Plus marte has a cannon. But none of my throws are ever on target. I've tried messing with the circle meter. I can't find the sweet spot.Comment

Re: How to defend against exploits in DD
If your ratio is 30% of "win at all cost" cheesers then your doing great.
I have had just 1 so far. I have been lucky. It sucked too because we were playing an epic 1-0 game. I was up in the bottom of the 8th 1-0.
In the top of the 9th he hit a double, then had a single. then proceeded to bunt 3 straight times to cheese in some runs.
I was really disappointed. We all know no MLB team ever bunts 3 straight times.
Ever.
I move on. I play another opponent. For the most part it seems a good majority of the players are playing good baseball. And then when you get the pitching cheesers? Those are easy pickens for me. After they walk me 2-3 times in a row I start teeing off on them.
I acutally had a player quit on me this morning (snuck in a game before heading to work he he) I just hit a 3 run bomb with Puig to go up 4-0 in the bottom of the 4th. First he tried to just get me to allow him to quit. I would not. Then he did a friendly concede and I took the win. But why quit down 4-0? I don't get that at all.
I agree with the taking walks thing. Take a few pitches and people either start throwing a lot of meatballs, or they walk you.Comment

Re: How to defend against exploits in DD
your post is really only a rant on how a vast portion of the "community" play online, or just online sports gaming in general (see NHL, Madden, Fifa)
I have friends that play like this on exhibition matches. And have been doing so since the MVP baseball days. They say it's their competitive nature but I know it's just the "do anything to win" mentality
It's really a question of character. Some people have it, some people don't.
There's not "defending" against it, there's just accept it or don't play online.
But I would hope I am facing someone who is trying to win at all costs.Comment

Re: How to defend against exploits in DD
Here's a couple things I am noticing lately to be aware of. I don't offer any tactics really to defend against these, but just wanted to put them out there. Far less freezers lately also, but it may be because I blocked anyone who tried to do this to me already.
- Fielders simply cannot tag runners on the basepaths, they whiff constantly. So a common tactic I am seeing lately is with a runner on 2nd, ground ball to short/third, hit L1, then R1, when the fielder cancels his throw hit L1. The fielder will lunge at the runner whiffing nearly every time while the runner dodges it like Neo.
- Same situation, but they go back to 2nd and you throw to first, only there is a good chance your first baseman never went to cover and catches the ball in that weird crouch animation they do in their starting spot off the bag. The animation is so long that there is no way to throw the guy out at 3rd and now you have 1st and 3rd on a routine ground out.
- Runner on 2nd, passed ball. If it bounces off the wall there is a high chance that the catcher will ignore it and refuse to pick it up. Runner rounds third and scores easily while you run your catcher in circles around the ball as it rolls back toward the mound.
- Getting thrown out at 1B on hits to RF is back, but it needs to be a hit where the first baseman is pulled toward 2B. Then the pitcher covers and if it is hit hard enough to RF, out. This is why some players throw everytime, if the animations trigger just right it can happen even though they fixed this issue before. It is back.
Next year I really hope that not only is the game built with single player in mind, but also PvP and attempt to find and fix areas of the game that can be exploited. A fielder whiffing on a tag on a runner two feet in front of them without the runner going out of the baseline is absurd IMO. Why would anyone expect that to fail? Well people are realizing it does fail, quite often, and exploit it.Comment

Re: How to defend against exploits in DD
How do I cancel a throw. I am having issues when a runner is stealing, so I click to throw, then it turns out to be a dropped 3rd strike, and I cannot cancel the throw to take the easy out at first. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Comment
