I'm debating just selling off all my Set 2 and Set 1 cards and going all out for Set 3 with my current 300k Stub stash to get Acuna. Really, the only thing that would mess this up is if they suddenly dropped some kind of collection requiring older cards but I don't see that happening.
I'm assuming i'll prob get 700k or more total if i sell off. So i could go de la cruz which is kind've silly at 550 or whatever he is

I def want to buy paige, i feel like hes a auto win in ranked lol...almost.

I actually think the free cards from TA/collection in set 3 are more interesting then anything I can buy....so maybe just sell off and buy everything I can towards the collection cards.

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

Just finished ta3 and says it took 8 hr 43 mins... I got 25 reg season wins then the playoffs. I was playing all the games to try to get all the boss/captain pxp mission stuff done

Pretty tedious after about 10 games and now I'm pretty sure I'll be terrible hitting online now as all this offline stuff ruins me. I played most in all star but the last bit on veteran to speed it up and then I would just bunt out with guys I didn't need stats for

      I'm still
      69% al east
      83 nl east
      67 al central
      67 nl central
      78 al west

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

I got up to 67 points in br in one sitting. I did get 9 wins once and the game didn't want me to get it. I had 14 good contacts and my opponent has 3

I hit a walk off in the 5th at Coors to win 3-1. He ultimately had 5 hits to my 3 despite 14 good contacts and a perfect at Coors.

I think I'm back to Coors being my home field again... I tried palm dates or whatever for a while but I squared too many up that died.

All year I keep going back to Coors playing the best for me

Coors plays pretty good. I’ve used Hatch and Motor all year. I just like the way it looks. You can get some very cheap homers out to left, but center is huge. Can make people regret not having OFers with speed.

I guess it’s not a huge deal since I’m sure I’ll be done playing for the year by the time set 3 rotates out, but having extreme program rewards be set 3 instead of core is crazy. I’ll wait to see, but it feels like they just gave me permission to skip it.

Yeah i saw that with piazza.

I'm still working on BR, team affinity, and set 3 collections so to do all that work for whatever like 3 extreme cards isn't really worth it. Plus regardless of attributes i'll always take mauer and adley over piazza anyway.

I'm sure one card will be crazy good but i just don't have time to do all that lol.

I've also heard about this john donaldson/ohtani glitch with ranked so i'm not diving into that at all until they patch that. Hopefully thats something theyll do this year and not wait until next.

I think ill work on the current event and try to get IP with my team affinity guys and not really care whether i win or lose which means ill prob play super well since i dont care

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

Finally got into Ranked and I forgot how fun it is beating up on people until you get to good divisions. 7-0 to start, but I know that’ll be short lived. It definitely helps to have all of the latest TA cards.

I desperately want Elly, but I’m only at 360K stubs and I feel like I’ve only earned 20-30K after weeks of playtime. Last year, beating BR in 24 hours would bet a cool 300K. Or events would get you 100-150K if you sped through it. Now, it’s no sell or 25K max, which makes events pointless this year. For someone that grinds as hard as I do, the dead end feeling when you’re done with all programs and not earning stubs is slightly defeating.

In an event yesterday, I took on a 2x top 50 player. Was only down 1-0 through 2, drilling liners to his fielders, and then he opened up. Lost 5-0 but I didn’t feel outclassed.

The Twitter backlash on this has also been "extreme"...

I'm curious to see if SDS changes it up by Friday or at least addresses it on the live stream. If they truly want the rewards to have been for a Set, they should have done this program in Season 4 as Set 4 cards will be usable the remainder of the cycle (since Season 6 will allow all cards).

Then again, I imagine most players fall into 3 major camps when it comes to the extreme program:

                - they don't bother
                - they knock it out relatively quickly (in which case the Set restriction doesn't hurt much)
                - they give up after a short period of time

I'd honestly be a bit surprised if a large number of players in the past have continued to pursue completion of the program weeks/months after initial release - those are truly the main people who are impacted by the decision to make these Set cards vs Core.

Nonetheless, it's a curious choice by SDS....but in a year of curious choices, I guess none of us should be surprised.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Meanwhile, Showdowns really are playable for the non-elite players! Knocked out East and Central for TA3, working on the West. Maybe I’ll actually complete a TA program this season!

Completed the core collection, only Set 3 left on the set collections now. I could buy all the equipment/uniforms to complete those collections, but I kind of like having some excitement from the chance to get something worthwhile even from junky regular packs.

im pretty confident im 100% not doing extreme for piazza, wagner, and marte

way too much of a headache for only a set 3 card and other than wagner whom i never really use RP, i dont think any of them make my god squad

will be nice to have a content break so i can catchup on TA, shark map, and BR. Maybe ill finally be caught up and can use the god squad

I checked today and spend like 280k on mauer and only had 16ABs with him

well i finished TA3 last night and the Shark map and didnt pull anything from the packs other than 2 JOE RYANS!! ugh and a Jram live series . My pack luck has sucked this year badly but now that im done with TA# i guess ill start ranked maybe but i dont wanna deal with the 2Way glitch every game so it may be short lived if i do.

i think im going to atleast try the Extreme stuff just because last year it wasnt really hard at all and itll be fun atleast im sure haha but i dont think i will use any of the cards other than maybe Marte because hes usually really good .

i think my squad now with Ta being done will be something like this
                      C 99 Adley
                      1B Stan the Man
                      2B 99Jram
                      SS Jackie

                      Randy
Donaldson (i will use him to start the games)
Ohtani although ive sucked with him
                      Hilton Smith
Kodai Senga has been really good for me

I got the will smith ASG card, my chase pack was framber valdez live series...3k.

Almost done with TA (got jram) and got my first set 3 collection pack (not picking anyone yet)

                        Currently
                        C Mauer/ASG Smith platoon
                        1B Utley

                        Ohtani

I have 400k stubs so I'll buy Paige whenever its time for ranked again and prob skenes to replace skubal and ohtani. I always dominate with skubal tho. Haven't tried hilton smith and I'm in a BR run so may take rube foster.

If the glitch is still going on I may just opt for co-op because I don't really care the outcome of that too much.I would actually like to play co-op more but they have given me too much content to get to that.

Sitting on exactly enough stubs to buy Elly. I’ll wait for the program to drop in the hope that he goes down a bit more, and then likely grab him. I’m 12-0 on Ranked and actually feel like I could complete my first program, especially with him leading off.

As for other areas of the game, I’ve got nothing to do until Extreme which I’ll play. Wagner, Ketel, and the completionist gene I suppose.

I also just hit 650XP and that Chase Pack is taunting me … I wonder what that’ll do to the Elly price tag as more people get there?

Lost my first Ranked game, down to 14-1.

I was facing a guy who was 55-35 and just pitched brilliantly. I ran out Ohtani, who's my least favorite starter and there more to DH, and you hit a splitter out with Griffey to go up 2-0. I then proceeded to squander multiple opportunities and lost 2-0.

Perfect perfect warning track flyout from Mauer, lefty on lefty. Chipper squared up a low and away sinker with a guy on that would have tied it for me, and that was a flyout too. When you need a break when you're not playing great, the game just has a bad habit of turning the PCI against you.

I’m fairly certain you can, it’s just a normal collect mission. Unfortunately, I think they mentioned that the ability to collect them will go away after the current event. I’m hoping they were wrong about that and we can get Baez in the rewind pack in the next event and still be able to collect him.
