Kondoh is a top tier early game card in the 5 years I've played DD

I honestly think that the 'best' hitter profiles are like his card (high contact, high vision, and power in the ~70-90 range). The best cards I've used all year are the Milestone Biggio and Clemente program Kaline; two other cards with similar profiles.

Started a mini seasons run for TA 5. Also put some work into collections with all the packs I've been earning. Closing in on 80% for each division. Still at around 1.3 million stubs so might just go the quick route and snap up the quickest exchanges versus being frugal. I don't have many exchanges left so it's all the same to me.

Actually enjoying the MS run so far. Been a while since I played it and using all the cards I need for missions is still fun. Finest Freddie is absolutely insane. It's just AS difficulty offline but I'm hitting like .800 with him over a bunch of games

My issue with the MS for TA is how quickly I’m running out of position players as opposed to SP. I’m down to 6/9 position players actually generating progress towards missions, and it takes 2-3 games for any SP to get enough PXP to complete something. So I’ll end up doing VS CPU at some point just to get enough PXP for pitchers to be meaningful, as unsatisfying as that is.

I've been playing on all star and it balances out a little I think. I also if I'm up by like 5 then I give up runs in the 3rd to get in a save situation on purpose to knock out the closer save missions

So my tactic was to complete all the captain missions as efficiently as possible in conquest. That way I moved to retro finest and finest 2023. The finest 2023 guys have the division boss missions so once you have all the captains done, you can just rotate the retro finest until you have those done and just focus on 2023 finest and get those repeatable missions done.

I did the moments, showdown and then started on conquest before MS so I was able to have the lower level missions done. I highly recommend doing all that stuff first if you haven't so your MS grind is just pulling the repeatable missions as much as possible. At least for me it seems like it's quicker and efficient

Re: What Are You Working On? - MLB The Show 23 Edition

Went back into the WBC stuff last night and remembered I still had the Showdown available to do. Was able to knock that one out on the first attempt, escaping Roki Sasaki's very short showdown. The star of that run was the guy I have been specifically targeting - Kondoh.

After the showdown, I only needed to get two of the PXP missions done for Kondoh and I got those knocked out. It was getting late, but I played a quick Conquest game with my theme team and of course Kondoh smashes an RBI double in the gap in the 1st inning.

My next order of business for my theme team will be going for the Charisma program Josh Harrison. I haven't used one of his cards in ages (maybe MLBTS18) but I remember him having a good swing. With his 1B eligibility (along with many other secondaries, he should be quite valuable).

After that...I'll really have no one else I am dying to target for the theme team. Maybe we'll get a couple more guys in the OKest program next week but I'm not banking on that.

I took the same approach of starting with moments, showdown, and conquest before the MS. I just focused on filling out the roster before adding more cards, then the players I’m less effective with started to get things out of sync.

I’m in the 84% range on all of the TAs now, just grinding my way through a LHH-heavy lineup with a ton of SP missions left to go. Headed into the MS playoffs and then probably just VS CPU from that point onward. Playing on mostly Rookie/Veteran probably is slowing me down on PXP, but for the captain missions needing Ks and TBs it made sense for me at the time.

After just loading a team with Charisma players; I unlocked Harrison last night pretty easily. My "short kings" roster is now complete. The only real upgrade I could make would be swapping-out the Charisma Cedric Mullins with the Awards card (but the cost is seriously prohibitive and the upgrade marginal). Barring an oddball new card release, the only other seemingly likely upgrade would be if we got a better Ivan Rodriguez (maybe in Season 6) and the Retro Finest Raines.

My "final" roster looks like this (I could easily max it out with nearly all-99s, but that's boring):

                      C - Ivan Rodriguez (Snapshot)
                      1B - Christian Vazquez (Charisma)
2B - Joe Morgan (Short Kings Captain)
                      3B - Jose Ramirez (2023 All Star)
SS - Jimmy Rollins (Retro Finest)
                      LF - Tim Raines (Incognito)
                      CF - Cedric Mullins (Charisma)
RF - Hank Thompson (the 99 OVR version)
                      DH - Jose Altuve (Kaiju)

                      Bench - Mookie Betts (Snapshot)
                      Bench - Josh Harrison (Charisma)
                      Bench - Matt McLain (Finest)
                      Bench - Kensuke Kondoh (WBC)

Shifting focus to the "tall kings" pitching theme team; I like where this stands too. There are a couple of other options I could grind towards (e.g. the postseason Jordan Montgomery and a couple of monthly awards RPs) but frankly, it'd be more about min-maxing the team (and for no real reason).

Other than chipping away at the Extreme MS, I have no idea what I am going to do next in DD. It was fun having a highly specific "goal" in building the theme team but now I'm at a bit of a loss (grinding merely to complete programs/collections is when I get annoyed/frustrated the most).

I just gave a shot to trying to that challenge where you're suppose to get 16 total bases in one inning with the Diamondbacks and the most I've gotten is 11. I got 10 another time. I don't stand a chance of hell getting it because I cannot hit with Christian Walker and Gabe Moreno. I make outs with them every single time. Just once have I managed to make it to Alek Thomas in the lineup. Nearly every ball I hit with Walker and Moreno is a weak grounder to SS. I call myself waiting for a good pitch to hit and it doesn't seem to matter with those guys.

I'm only 2 points into br then going on Thanksgiving vacation next week. I may not finish it 3 weeks or whatever.

I'm enjoying this season enough. The conquests being a little shorter is nice and loading up the world series conquest with a bajillion packs was pretty nice.

I've been doing alot of exchanges for TA since I don't have much use of my stubs at this point. I'm not even sure what players I'm going after. I don't think I'll be using bo, Contreras or shohei... I also wish belli had 9o durability because I'm using that boost online.

Only card I really want I think is skubal at this point since I can get the OG Adley next season.

FINALLY unlocked extreme Billy Wagner but I can't use him for another month or so but I did do that recently.

I will grind for the event rewind pack this weekend to get semien. Not hitting great with Betts so I think semien may be my new 2b

I got 11 back to back tries, then got 16 total bases with 2 outs on my 3rd attempt. LOL. I didn't even realize that was am optional extreme moment either. I got so lucky with this one.

Well, looks like the Tall Kings theme team gets a modest upgrade with a 97 OVR Chris Martin part of the Event reward structure today!

Also, sounds like Season 6 is going to be the infamous "rehash of old crap" program (based on their little Live Content video they posted today). IF this means they will not be including a new Team Affinity, our chances of getting some higher-end versions of some top legends is going to drop a lot. Set 1/2 cards (from packs) are going to be very tough to get.

It is what it is and I guess we'll see how it shakes-out; but it might be about time to shift solely back to franchise.
