Valdez looks like the best to me... Those slow cutters are always nice

I'm sure we'll get another Chipper/Pedro/Babe and others at some point so that they can be used during each rotation. It really does feel like Magic the Gathering and building decks with new cards that come out
First of all...props to your referencing of "time" when talking about a person's budget - it's something many folks don't seem to quite grasp.

On the more "fun" side of the response...

I honestly wish I had the desire to really grind the mode this year because you're right...the various versions of cards IS very cool. You really don't have to grab every elite version of every card. I've seen quite a few cases where lesser cards can be boosted as part of theme teams to be pretty decent surrogates for more expensive cards of that same player.

For example, that Set 1 Willie Mays Captain card doesn't look too great at first blush compared to his 99 set 2 card; BUT, you fully boost it in a theme team lineup, and it's a pretty reasonable surrogate PLUS you get some pretty nice boosts to other theme team players. I'll be honest, even after Season 2 ends, I'll probably continue to tinker with that Mays card as my Wild Card as new players get released from the 50s/60s.

The other thing too; I actually prefer some of the "lesser" cards for certain players. So many of the 99s fall into the 'balanced' hitter category; I personally find that the lesser cards (which more frequently are contact/power hitters) can be more effective and with the right captain combo, you can boost that player's overall ability without losing that split. Sometimes; 99 OVR versions lose a bit of their "ID" - so you get players that "should" be contact hitters that loft the ball too much because they're balanced (but they don't quite have enough juice) OR power hitters that don't loft the ball enough because of that balanced hitter status.

There's really a lot of different ways to mix-match players this year. And IMO, unless you're a top 100 player in the H2H space, you really don't need to stack that team with 99s. In terms of team building, the options are a bit overwhelming, though not necessarily in a bad way.

Finished up the May Awards Program around 9:30pm last night. Finished it off with 5 event wins and pxp with pitchers needed. Super smooth overall!

I'm 3 cards from my second collection pack, time for David Wright!

Any particular cards in the program that stood-out to you (perhaps as surprising) after running through the grind?

              Finally got Verlander.

Finished br yesterday on a 8-1 run then proceeded to lose all 3 games today but got enough pxp to get 100 points.

              Interesting stats...
522 avg with Brock (no bunts)
              615 avg with Escobar
              417 avg with kinsler
000 avg with youkilis (18 abs with 1 strikeout)

11.37 era with maeda and only gave up 1 HR

Welp, 3 buy orders went through for a few 15k Kaiju cards I didn't have, so now I have Wright!

Honestly, probably just Franco for me. Even though it's not as good as his 97 overall card. Riley Green had a solid swing for me, even Freeman in the Event games.

That 98 Freeman might be the best Freeman we've ever gotten. He's always had atrocious power against lhp but has decent power against both. They had to try really hard to make that a 98

I hated that Maeda card. I got ROCKED with him. I ended up just giving him 3 batters unless whoever I was playing was bad. I didn’t like the timing of his windup and he has no deception.

Got the stubs for live series, but waiting to pull the trigger on Diaz and Verlander just because I think they might drop a bit tomorrow. Have to tell myself the stubs are buying Sosa and Jeter because I hate the thought of spending that much on 2 cards I’m never going to use. I think I’ll be in a good place for Set 3 at least. Sold a lot of Set 2 cards for live series which kinda sucks.

What's the best way to tackle this team affinity 2? Just keep running mini seasons with TA players? I'm trying to blend ingonito players in there as well but this second team affinity seems like its taking me 50x longer than the first go around

I've finished all showdown/moments/conquests and close to done in the east but the other 4 divisions are around the 60s

exchanges are also worthless, i feel like they should give us more points there.

Now that I'm done with BR I think I'm gonna try to finish TA2 and not even start the monthly program until I'm done with this.....by that time the monthly program will probably be no longer relevant lol. I'm falling behind.

Still need to do incognito showdown too

All of season 1 I was on pace with everything, is it more content in season 2 or have I just slowed down?

I never finished TA1, and I’m not super far in TA2. Grinding TA just to grind it is so boring. I’m working on the conquests now and throwing guys that need pxp in it.

That Chase pack Mauer is insane. They might have actually topped Mantle, which I thought was impossible.

It's definitely boring. I'm doing it to have enough cards for randy and hank

Haven't even used Wright since I have chipper

                            Just got Judge.

Ranked just rolled out the 3 weakest bosses in history. Event rewards are still weak. I’m at 750XP and have no motivation to play until I see the new BR.

I prioritize grinding TA last, because you can earn across the TA seasons all at once via team PCP and MTO. There’s just too much content to keep up with, so I tackle the standalone programs first.
