Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 24 Edition)

Im enjoying the event with ta cards, finished al east and prioritizing al west now just cause I have randy... Up to 16 wins but so hard to play in my work days cause I feel tired and don't want to "try" too hard.

I played for about an hour today but could notice my patience was gone.

I've locked in 80 cards so far for the s1 collection that starts at 280. Seems sooooooo far away. I feel like I'm not likely to get 200 cards a month and half or whatever from now. I haven't locked in every single card but all of my no sells.... Haven't collected a single team towards babe yet so that also seems extremely far away

I'm up to 60k stubs and I have some guys I haven't collected yet but just not sure on how to approach that this year. I have trout but no other expensive card

I think I'll try to get the max event wins 35? For ta progress then I usually try to do br so I'll see how much time left on that by the time I finish events. I finally feel like content has picked up with Jackie program and lightning stuff this week

TA 1 Chapter 2 all complete, super easy, even easier than the prior one IMO.

Time to get 20 wins in events (8 currently). Tough to get back into it after a few days off bc of offline grind etc. I think papadell laid one on me late last night lol. GG if that was actually you!

Then into finishing the BR/Ranked Programs.

Pumped we should be getting a Season Awards Pete Alonso this week with him winning player of the week.
I was wondering if that was you haha. I wasn't exactly sober so wasn't sure lol. I was killing time while watching the braves game and jumped into a random event game. GG indeed.

I think that's the first time I got to play online at my created stadium in ages

finished the ALC and have started on the NL west .. i got 2 of the platers so far .. also trying to knock out the ALW as well .. i dont know what it is but it seems to me that this Event grind this time has been sooo much harder . I'm facing Randy or Satchel every game and ive had like 4 or 5 other ppl bring one of them out of the bullpen or Matt Waldron, like really its only an event game i didnt think it was that serious lol

It's something that's always cracked me up about event design. It's supposed to be the casual online mode yet there's always elite meta pitchers being spammed down your throat haha

I really just don't understand the need to bring these starters out of the bullpen like is it really that must win lol ... i will say i really do enjoy that Chase Dollander ? card his pitch mix is good and seems his pitches are sneaky ... and i heard Kenley tips his pitches but ive used him in 3 event games and i dont believe ive given up a hit yet so maybe some people just cant read if he is tipping his pitches

I basically used randy >>> richards >>> franco/misiorowski thru the event so far

Obviously randy/richards gets me strikeouts and IP with the AL west. I'm 100% al west now so I won't use them anymore.

I'll work on the central and I think the NL west or Jackie has like pitch 5 innings with dodgers. So I'll use gagne/phillips for the 5.

I basically try to find the best pitchers I can for the division I'm working on.

For central I'll probably go misiorowski until I p5 him, the pirates prospect starter and then prob go franco/wagner if against all lefties or like burnett or someone. But once I get that first pack I'll use dibble every single game until I'm done with nl central.

If you don't use good pitchers in the event it's next to impossible to get any strikeouts

Dang it still not finished with the USA map. I forgot what a slog it is when you get to the East Coast. Lol

I did pull LS Mookie from a BIH pack this morning. Not sure if I should sell him or not. I'm still miles away from finishing the LS collection. It would put me close to 200k stubs if I did sell him.

Mookie is on fire and a surefire upgrade when the attribute update comes. I don't know how much more that would increase his value - if at all.

I still think Pedro is one of the better SP options in the game right now and the utility of being able to use him every single season is good. Though, I wonder if he'll be BP within a couple months.

I've been struggling with the Live Series myself. I can finish it right now and get Babe after selling Trout, but I'm just not excited by Palmeiro or Ruth. They're obviously studs at the beginning of seasons and on Hall of Fame, but I'm having way too much fun with the Buxton builds I'm running and retooling.

I have all the cards for the AL except Cole, Seager and Yordan. I'm just banking my Stubs in the event a must-have card comes down for me like a solid Chipper or Buxton/Braves boost eligible card. I figure those cards will come down eventually.

Mookie, though, will probably only keep going up. Definitely a tough decision.

Pitch speeds felt fast to me last 3 days or so in event. I warm up against randy on legend with Fb sliders turned up and I still felt behind a bit

I'm almost at Napoli on the xp path, up to 100k, and like 87 cards into s1 collection. Zero team collections yet

My first p5 is that Brewers pitcher Jacob mariowski (sp?)

Hoping the lightning card is something really good

I would keep mookie if you plan to use him regular and sell if you don't.

I'll have live series trout in my DH slot for the foreseeable future.

Finished the BR program and took Braun. So far I’m really liking him. Made good progress on TA2 by playing online, which is nice.

I sold my Acuna pull a few days ago and I’m happy with my decision. Live series collection just isn’t worth it for me this year. Maybe I’ll get there eventually but I’m using the stubs to either make stubs investing or building my Cubs theme team. Theme teams are actually very legit this year, it’s easy to get 13 cards worth using and to just fill in with whatever meta cards you have. Key cards I’ve picked up for the squad so far have been Matt Shaw and Imanaga, I’ll get Alcantara from the new pack sometime today and I’ll definitely grab Horton when I see where his price settles at. Add those guys to the captain cards, TA cards, and filling bench spots with live series, I think my team is better than my Buxton squad.

Reds theme team is also insane now.

95 Witt for free with a 94 Elly, everyone's favorite SS, for 120K.

If I could summarize what's wrong with DD this year, this is it.

It's definitely deflating, when I saw on IG that elly was behind another dumb pack it just automatically sours me on the whole lightning/monthly program....like it's a consolation prize.

I'm always bad with witt cards but always super good with oneil cruz and elly...oneil is still at 70k stubs and I don't wanna contribute to this new pack thing by buying the cards anyway.

I think everyone would prefer these in a program but I think just ONE pack in a program would go such a long way in keeping the mood up. The WBC program last year had a pack at like 95 of 100 points for idk if it was trout/shohei/roki? I think you assume you're not pulling the rare round but you have a chance to.

I'm not spending 40k for my inevitable austin martin pull

At least Elly's attributes aren't very good. Defense is terrible with I think a sub 60 reaction and both con/pow vs LHP is under 80...doesn't get the buxton boost. Oneil cruz is still the better card IMO

Looking at my team I'll prob stick with mondesi at ss over Witt because he has the Buxton boost and better defense.

I have yasmani at catcher and will prob stick with him over Napoli because he's a switch hitter and other than trout prob my best bat so far this year.

I like this Buxton boost but it Def limits your ability to add new cards cause I want to keep the tier 3 boost.

I think right now grandal and dihigo are my two non boosted guys and dihigo is on my bench cause I can basically platoon him anywhere with good defense.

I def think the new structure of 24 influences team variety... I never really cared about that but I know that was a common complaint I saw over the years.

I appreciate how they made Buxton the clear “early game boost” Captain who will inevitably be less useful as better cards come out. I think it’ll be interesting to see how the team builds and other cornerstone captains play out over a full season and into S2.
