Re: What Are You Working On? (MLB The Show 24 Edition)

Watching the stream on YouTube a little bit late and don't even get our 2nd wild card until after 500k xp... Ughh

    I assumed maybe 250, 500,750, 1m xp and didn't like that

It really does suck to get petite, Paige, Brett, and mays at the very very end of season 1 and I can't use them.

I want to just play 9 inn casual I think. I wish they'd give us parallel progress in that mode. Would be nice to play 9 inning game online for fun and not really "try hard" for ranked

I only see 3 wild card slots on xp path, where is the 4th?

Already changed my mind. Went to a Castillo/Swanson hybrid and loving that more. I had Matt Olson over 100 Contact against both sides today with Inside Edge and that hybrid boost.

        AND SO IT SHALL BE

I don't even know what type of team to run... Live series has so many flaws, terrible defense and speed

Leaning towards maybe wild carding mays just for that defense if I run Soto and trout or something in the corners

Santana boost Def doesn't work with current card options

Also hard to find enough speed for Carroll boost

I got a good amount accomplished today. I got to 30 wins in the event. For the majority of it, I was running a Cardinals captain team to work on the NLC TA, when I hit the 3rd NLC TA boss, I switched to a Dodgers team to start working on the NLW. I was also using Alvarez and Griffey in my lineup so I have a decent start on the ALW and was using Andrew Miller as my primary bullpen lefty so that got me some ALE points. On the main XP path, I got just past the first Griffey/Chipper/Halladay pack. Tomorrow I think I’ll start the BR program to get those cards for collections.

Cards you receive as rewards would be realistically rated since mostly you’ll be playing CPU teams and quite honestly the game is less fun once you’re just bullying them with god squads (though you’ll still do that). Most of the rewards get laid out on day one but there can still be content that gets dripped out for special occasions.

Online, they can figure out how to do a power curve and introduce variety to team building, but this would be the only place to earn and use juiced cards.

There could be a pool of crossover cards (maybe including captains), maybe some way of mixing them (convert mini-seasons to be offline BR using a drafted squad of cards you’d otherwise only see online).

I imagine this will be an unpopular concept and most players probably just want to crush dingers with maxed out squads. But the fact is that the offline and online game play so different and many players DO have different motivations for preferring one or the other, and maybe the content structure should reflect that?

I think completely separating out the reward cards would risk undermining the entire point of the mode for SDS - players buying stubs. The online players getting top tier rewards first (preferably via buying stubs to load up their squads to begin with) so they can sell them to the slower/offline players (who are hopefully buying stubs to afford this) for a haul in stubs would become non-viable if the offline players couldn't get and use those reward cards from online play.

Try some hybrid builds. Idk your favorite team but try pairing Castillo with that teams hitter boss and play around or find a team that has some players you like and try it. You don't have to go full bore with a specific team but it helps build both themes.

Especially early in the season, double dipping bosses seems like a fun way to also build a competitive enough team

This is kindve I guess what my team is now. Wild card is posada but I have 225k stubs so thinking of maybe buying Adley for 70k or so. This team has the tier 3 Castillo boost but pitching, defense, and speed are pretty sad.

I don’t think SDS has really behaved the last several years like they’re concerned about the resale value of high end online rewards or even gatekeeper live cards. Those have all generally never been cheaper or more accessible. When Trout was the main obstacle for the live collection he frequently spent half of the season above 250k. WS rewards were frequently going at 500k plus and “meta” ones often stayed near 1 million. Stubs were even harder to come by in the past too. Since at least 20 every year has seen the value of cards go down, to my recollection.

The addition of online rewards paths that aren’t linked solely to rank or wins and MUCH more generous scattering of rewind packs really makes those cards more accessible. If anything my idea would make high end online rewards even more valuable if top tier players wanted to flip them to people who were just dabbling or struggled to advance.

Pulled trout from a standard pack from team affinity stuff... Up to 363k stubs now

They nerfed the Santana boost, that sucks.

I heard they boosted Buxton but I didn't notice that when I was on yesterday. I did check all the other captains with Santana (Kershaw, prior, etc) and it doesn't seem like they nerfed those

I may be in the minority but I never really care what other teams rosters look like. I care about having to face randy and Donaldson every game in ranked but I never care what other teams look like but I know that turns others off

Santana boost isn't really worth it. I got chipper v1 in the xp path so tried to put a switch hitter team together and it wasn't really worth running.

And man this team affinity, I can't look at that and see a single card I want to use out of 30. I think when you have live series done already and stack it with Castillo the ta cards are significantly worse options.

I'm motivated for Jeter and chipper but man it's gonna be sooooooo long. I played pretty much all day Saturday and got to around 160xp....seems like I should've gotten further along with all the double xp plus the xp I got from event.

I hate mini seasons but I feel like that's the route to go to get the xp progress

I’m jealous at your level of XP. I left town before the season started Friday, and don’t get home to my console until basically when double XP ends tomorrow.

On the plus side, the card flipping margins have been surprisingly good, even for the new pack cards. I figured it’d be like S1 where margins were “naturally” very tight for all the newly available cards. Not so much! So, at least I’ll have a fair amount of stubs to use on interesting cards that come out later…but I still have a lengthy S2 grind ahead of me.

Working on myself. Going on more walks and getting in touch with nature. Reading more books. Really anything to get my mind off of the worst Team Affinity release I can recall.

Seriously, how are we supposed to get motivated to grind these rehashed cards? It’s a slap to the face honestly.

I'm at 151,255...I was hoping to finish the event today but I ended up not playing at all and then Monday morning I'll finish the event and prob start BR...Im assuming by Monday afternoon I should be at least over 200k but then during the week i'm pretty limited after that (hints why the daily XP cap is stupid)

I could've played today after I woke up but I wasn't in the mood and went to take a nap lol

I think live series has a big boost in cost and margins because everyone sees S2 and team affinity sucks so everyone wants live series now.

Live series was totally expected, but the spreads on the newest cards in the S2 packs has really surprised me. S1 cards still mostly holding strong as well.

I’d much rather be playing, but since I can’t, it’s not the worst consolation prize.
