Usually there is just a cut scene of your 3rd base coach. If you're a pitcher, it's probably just safe to assume he is telling you to do a sac bunt.

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
The Yanks AAA team had Damon and Swisher on it in 2010. I saw that Melky was rated higher than Damon and was younger. I forgot who was ahead of Swisher but it was someone good. More alarming is that these guys have to be put on waivers before they are assigned to AAA. Why wouldn't anyone want Lee, or Soto. Unless they were optioned there after an injury. Don't know. Did you go and check the transaction log?Moderator

Wow thats horrible, I love RTTS dont get me wrong but these same issues have been going on since RTTS was first introduced. And also I seen that the Rookie of the year candidate in the NL has a .196 avg! Are you kidding me?Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Finished my second season as my catcher in the bigs after a September call up. Went 13 for 57 with 2 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 RBI's. Not that great, but apparently it's good enough to stay on the 40 man roster.Through music, you can live forever...TEAMS: San Diego Chargers, San Diego Padres, Notre Dame Fighting IrishComment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Hello all. I am new to Road To The Show. Usually only play seasons in the game, but decided to try out RTTS this year. So far I am having fun with it. Just a couple of questions, any help would be appreciated.
I seem to have problems with running the bases. The game says to push backwards on the L stick to return to a base. I tried pushing left and back and i still advanced, running into a stupid double play. Turns out I need to push right on the stick. That seems a little odd.
I also don't understand training. I have these points to use, but I don't know what the blue and orange bars represent. It asks how many training points I want to spend, and I see that it makes the bars change slightly.
On an off day, the batting coach wanted me to take 20 practice hits. I did that, and seemed to affect my stats, are those permanent changes?
Again, any help would be appreciated.Comment

1) Running the bases is just atrocious and something we are all having to deal with. You'll kind of get used to it as you play more but there is currently no way around it.
2) Blue means that the attribute is stabilized while the orange bar means it's declining. So you'll want to train a little in the areas that turn orange so that you don't lose ability.
3) Yes, the batting practice adds to your ability and is permanent as long as you don't neglect it in the future.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Man, I have been getting traded all around the MLB. Started with Cincinnatti, traded to Houston in my first year. In my second year I was traded to Baltimore and spent the season there. I was then traded in my third year to the Marlins and spent the year there. In my fourth year, I was traded to the Red Sox and they had me on the trading block within 2 weeks. Luckily I talked to management and they took me off and then offered me a 2 year/1M contract. I am in year 2014 now and I am absolutely tearing it up. Just got my first grand slam! I am batting .420 after 120 at bats, 24 RBI, .600 OBS% and .800 SLG%. It is all starting to come together now.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I was drafted by the Reds, and my first year was spent entirely in AA. No spring invite, didn't make the 40 man roster. 2nd year started in AA again, but tore it up pretty good. Still, didn't get called up to AAA until an injury kinda forced the move. My role was a utility guy, but because the Reds don't believe in having any extra IF's I pretty much started at a different position every day. Eventually put up good enough number to get promoted to the starting 3B role where I have been for at least a month or so. I was put on the trading block, and talked to the manager who said he'd take me off becuase I was doing so well, and then about 3 days later I was put back on (guess I had a bad game or something). Talked to him again and he said he was keeping me on the block because the team needed depth. So, that's where I'm at now. 2 weeks to go until the deadline. I could be a September callup w/ the Reds, or I could be shipped to AA for the Nationals for all I know.
I hope I don't get traded though. Even though I don't really care about the Reds in real life, would be cool in the game to stick w/ one team throughout.
Luckily , I haven't seen any real MLB stars in the minors though. A couple "big" names I remember are Corey Patterson & Doug Man-cave-itch (no idea how to spell it).Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
Well after my fantastic second season at AAA Syracuse. The big club invited me to Spring Training. I didn't have a particulary great spring. 1-1 with a 3.77 ERA. It was good enough to get to the majors though! Got a bump in pay to $389,000. I will be the Nats number 2 guy to start my 3rd season. I will also get the Mets and Carlos Beltran in the second game of the season. Dude killed me in the spring. 2 HR's in back to back at bats. Should be fun though. I've made it to "The Show"! I'll try to get my blog updated with my first game or 2 tomorrow or Saturday.Moderator

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I got drafted by the red sox, didnt do crap in spring training hit about 220 or something. started out on the bench in AA portland, and after only 14 at bats I was called up to AAA pawtucket ( I figured this is cause the sox lack depth in the OF). started slow and even got benched for not meeting goals, but I was basically a hitting machine in AAA. got the sept call up to the show and my first major league was a home run. Im having a blast.Comment

Re: MLB 09 "Road To The Show" thread
I'm back on track with my first RTTS. I'll just have to skip batting practice sessions until next season or if the game ends up correcting itself in some way since some mysterious floating bat has taken the place of my hitter in these.

Tyler Dodge - 1st Baseman drafted by the Pirates. Playing for the AA Altoona Curve (coolest stadium background in the minors) and after starting off in a 2 month hitting slump I'm tearing it up in my last 10 games or so (adjusting sliders works wonders
). I finally met my advancement goals but the manager said though I'm ready for AAA he feels I can gain more confidence if I stay in AA - that and they're still waiting for my steroid results to come back.
