Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
I was thinking that I really didn't have a specific gripe in mind...Then I just hit a ball over the head of the right fielder and let off the stick about 5 feet from 2nd and the runner stopped...I then had to hit up instead of right to get him to go to 2nd and narrowly missed being tagged out on what was a stand-up double. I am so frustrated!Comment

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
I don't like the new baserunning controls for RTTS. And by the way (and I haven't tried it yet) but if you use the square/triangle/circle to just select which base to run to how do you make your guy slide without causing him to possibly reverse directions?Comment

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
Yeah, I don't usually complain but this has been killing me all day. I just wish the option of using L1/R1 was still there. My worst instance was taking a big turn at 1st, deciding not to go for two...yet after switching the analog stick back in the opposite direction, my guy continued to run straight to 2nd and into a waiting tag.Comment

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
Happened 2 seconds ago:
At 2nd with less than 2 outs. A semi-deep fly and I tag up and the camera turns towards outfield. As the ball is caught, I run to 3rd by pressing left and see it's a strong throw, camera turns around again and I instinctively press right to run back. I continue to 3rd before I realize my mistake and turn around. By then, my goose was pretty much cooked.
Moral of the story: Make sure you really pay attention to the camera instead of paying attention to the field.Last edited by kilmar1; 03-03-2009, 08:30 PM.Comment

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
Obviously this is no knock on the development team, who has done an excellent job with this game. However, I feel that moreso than anything, the explanation of the directions for base running as shown in both the manual and the game are simply inadequate and do not do a good enough job of explaining how to use the controls. This is probably the main problem with this IMHO.
In addition, I think the way these new controls were designed was a little strange, as it is unfamiliar to anyone who's ever played a baseball game before. However, I also get the sense that as with everything else in this iteration of "The Show", a little practice will make everything much easier.Comment

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
Is there any chance of a patch to give us the option for the old, simpler controls?Comment

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
Hey, like they say..if it aint broke, dont fix it.... And here's another one... Sometimes change isnt always for the better...
I hate throwing the word patch around for every little thing, but is it possible to patch in the old system of base running using the L1/R1 scheme? I know the creative lead on Guitar Hero 4 (Wii) and I saw how difficult it was to program buttons and such, so I was wondering if thats something that would be feasible.
Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock (Wii)
Transformers: War For Cybertron (DS)
Guitar Hero 5 (Wii)
Band Hero (Wii)
MUA2 (PS3/XBox 360)
Hax Attacks (iPad/iPhone)

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
When the camera changes don't let go of the stick once you do then the controls switch to camera relative which is causing the problems everyone is having. If you continue to press your original direction and don't change it you will keep running. However once you let go of the stick and the camera changes the controls switch.
Hope this helpsthe controls will not automatically change as the camera changes.. so if you are pressing right and the camera shifts on you, the control will not update until you release your position
so basically.. if you maintain your forward action, it will keep that even as the camera movesComment

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
I felt the same as most of you in this thread until 30+ games into my RTTS career. Now I'm completely used to them and really have no issues. The game officially came out today fellas, give new things like RTTS base running controls at least a week before officially complaining!

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
Has anyone figured out when the right time is to release the analog stick when you come to a base? If my guy doesn't slide (which happens a lot even though I tell him to), he either stops 3 feet short or runs through to the next base. Am I missing something on this?Comment

Re: Problems with RTTS baserunning
Dear Russel-
I've had all the same problems as everyone else, but encountered something apparantly no one else has...
I was hitting, ran to first and made the turn to go to second and thought better of it. I had the initial camera problem but luckily got back to the bag in time, or so I thought...
I had adjusted to the camera and when I saw my player's foot on the bag I let go of the stick. It was weird that the play kept going but the catcher ran all the way from the plate, and when he got within reach (without me touching anything) my guy took his foot off the base and was called out.
Clearly the game didn't register he was on the bag and was instead using the "stop" feature you guyys implemented byy letting go of the stick.
*For the record, can we please go back to the L1/R1 if we so choose. No offense, but this crap reminds me of Madden when they took away the simplest things and made it difficult to play*Comment
