    Re: PSP Version Impressions

On the PSP version, I am playing with Houston in Spring Training. Whenever I am on the road, everytime I pinch hit for my pitcher the pinch hitter has to face one batter before I can bring in a reliever. I am in manage mode when this happens. It does not happen when I am the home team, just when on the road. Any one else have this problem? If not, could someone else try this and let me know if it happens to them too? Thanks!

      Re: PSP Version Impressions

So far I am getting my *** kicked hitting wise on Legend (guess pitch off) default sliders. I actually find my patience going down as games go by and confusing myself more in the process.

Not sure if I should turn guess pitch on for a little bit.

Also the backdrop of some stadiums (in certain lighting) makes seeing some pitches a little difficult.

I was having a problem picking up a high fast ball playing in Citi-field during the day time.

Hand, is hitting too easy on HOF (like last year) or are you just determined to play on Legend no matter what?

Could someone please post a CAP for Chris Johnson (Hou) for me? I have the PSP version and cannot download the rosters except the SCEA ones. I would try to create him myself but not sure what to do for the ratings. I wanted to use these stats for him if possible: 333 AB, 88 H, 18 2b, 0 3b, 8 HR, 34 R, 43 RBI, 18 BB, 76K. I need another 3b for Houston since Boone is out. Thanks in advance.....

Nem is that what you have been playing HOF? Are you finding that better/more realistic than Legend?

I love Legend except I strikeout a lot.

Oh and Bonds, I have not really played on HOF that much but I think it is probably harder than last years version. I am just trying to be stubborn and work through Legend.

Hand, thanks for the info. I'm still waiting for my game to arrive. This waiting is agonizing.

i've already got the show for the PS3, but bought the PSP version on a whim, in an effort to get a bit more mileage outta the handheld.

                    dang.

i never knew how faithful they keep the handheld version to its console counterpart! i always assumed it was 2 modes completely stripped down. i was really impressed by the depth of it, and how the commentary (amongst other things) was intact. big ups to the SCEA dev team for not leaving the scraps for the PSP guys. its thoroughly enjoyable.

What an awesome game I just had...Red Sox (me) against the Jays at Fenway. I won't drill into the details, but here is a brief summary...

Blue Jays homer in first off Smolz. Ortiz homers in bottom of first to tie things up. Reds Soxs go ahead in the fourth off of singles from Bay and Youk and a double from Lowell. In the top of the six, the Rays tie it up at 3. In the 7th, they go ahead on a solo home run. In the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs and Jed coming to bat and Lowell on second from a double I pitch hit Jed with Lugo and on a 0-2 count he hammers a 2 run homer to win it.

I jump up from my seat and raise my hands in the air.....

                      ...it was awesome...

                      Love this game....

Is anyone else struggling to hit HR's? I am playing with the Yankees and through 8 spring training games I have 1 home run. I am playing on Hall-of-Fame with the power maxed out. I get fair amount of hits, but they are all singles with a couple of doubles.

This is my first year with the show for the PSP and I have a few questions:

1.) Is there a way to practice pitching? And if not, how do you guys propose I get better at it?

2.) How do you advance runners? Like if I hit a ball hard off the bat and I want to go straight to second without having to wait for him to run past first like he would on a single, or second to home, or first to third?

3.) What tips do you guys have to get better at the game?

                          Thanks,

                            My Impressions

                            + Generally improved from '08
+ Even more realistic than last year's game
+ more difficult and I like that
+ improved the stadium and player graphics
+ The sound, as it's always been, is superb.
                            + very high replay value.
+ worth every dollar I paid for it
                            - It'd be cool to see umps.
                            - The game can be too difficult for new players.

The difficulty is increased this year. Last year was way to easy to hit, even on HOF. To the point where it simply was no fun to play. This year is very challenging. I am playing on AllStar and have one of the lowest averages. I have one player hitting over .300. It is a challenge and I love it. Each game I get a little better but I still strike out too much. This is a definite improvement. I may even have to go down to Veteran.
