    Re: PSP Version Impressions

baserunning is really bad in RTTS, I don't understand why they dont have an absolute control scheme (aka right always makes you advance, left always makes you go back). I get screwed over all the time. One thing that particularly annoys me is if I hit what should be a double, and Im running to second base. I'm holding up on the analog out of the box so I can get to second. I let off the analog when I am close to 2nd because I don't want to overun the base, but im not close enough so my guy just stops.

I try to press up to make me continue to second base, but since the camera angle has changed, up doesn't make me go forward anymore so I get tagged out. Baserunning is really frustrating, I just ended up turning it off, and I STILL get tagged out on dumb stuff like this like every 2 games.

Defense isn't that much better either. I'm a second basemen (second position is IF) and this would happen to me all the time too. When the ball gets hit to the other side it makes my guy stop as soon as someone else starts to throw me the ball for the double play. I'll be like 3 or 4 steps away from the base and my guy has to just stop and stand there while the ball gets thrown to him and then I can't get the lead out. Also, it puts me at 1B a lot and theres some goofy stuff there too. It'll have me playing up and charging for a bunt, and it will get bunted to the 3rd base side but the indicator says *I* need to be covering first (which is impossible bc im charging) so no one will cover the bag and the guy will be safe.

Then theres stuff that like just doesn't work. The "swing analysis" that doesn't actually exist (the first day I got this game I spent every damn at bat trying to get it to work it was driving me crazy). In RTTS I put the option for CPU teammate hitting from all to 1/4. I did this because I wanted to bat more than just for my guy so I could get better at it. This setting aparently does not work because I still only bat for my guy.

I've never played the show before and I don't have a ps3 so I bought this on PSP. I am pretty underwhealmed for the issues I mentioned above. I've only played RTTS so hopefully it is better in the real games.

I think if you get into playing a season you may have a different opinion of the game. I'm a big fan of The Show for the PSP, but gave up on RTTS last year due to the load times and fielding & baserunning issues. Honestly, I haven't even tried RTTS for '09, but I'm having too much fun in my season to say I miss it at all.

Yea, the MP3 files have to be in a directory called ' MUSIC ' in the root of the memory stick.

In last year's game, I had trouble with facing lefties at Dolphin Stadium in day games. I just couldn't see the ball. I haven't played at enough stadiums in day/night or vs. lefty/righty to find any others. But yeah, some stadiums could be a real problem to the point it is unplayable.

                        Re: PSP Version Impressions

yes it does. I dunno its ok. I'm having more fun with it since I turned the difficulty down to rookie. I went through a whole season and played every game (including the spring training) and didn't hit one HR, and I had a power rating that was like the 1st or 2nd on my team and the other guys were hitting HR's. I even upped the power slider to max. I didn't know you had to use the analog stick for hitting though, so thats why I went down to rookie, still haven't hit a HR though.... Actually I take that back lol I hit a linedrive to center and the CF dived for it and missed it and it went to the wall and i got an inside the parker.

One question I have is, it takes 40 points to train an attribute, but you can put all the points you have into it. So is there a difference between training an attribute once with 80 points, or twice with 40 points?

I ask because for the goals, they usually give you like 4 weeks to increase 3 different stats. At first this was cool because you only had to train each one like once. Now, I need to train each stat like 4 times to meet the goal, which means you need a ton of points.

Therefore I had a bunch of abilities that went into 'decreasing' mode because I just didn't have any training points to put into them even though I would have loved to. The freaking game keeps making me put points into bunt (and it never has asked me to bunt), while my speed, fielding, power, etc are declining.

I ended the first season yesterday, and lead my team (AA birmingham barons) in batting average as a 19 year old 2B. Didn't get called up in september though.

Second season started and I wasn't even invited to camp (says I wasn't on the 40man roster), but I was promoted to AAA Charlotte Knights. My role on that team now is "Utility Player" which is kind of cool. I'm only a couple games in, but the big club is having some injurys. So someone got called up, then my teams SS got hurt for a while so I was filling in for him.

I'm actually having fun with it since I turned the difficulty down, It would be really great to get some real minor league rosters. That would be a great way to get familiar with your teams farm system, playing through it.

Don't play this game for like hours on end though. It really will hurt your eyes =P

They always unsticky the impressions threads after a game has been out a few weeks.

Just got the game. Took only 4 weeks to ship to me... After about 5 games, I have to say, it reminds me alot of last years game with the big difference that hitting went from ridiculously easy (last year) to ridiculously hard (this year).

Now I'm playing with the Giants so I know my batting won't be great. The main frustration I have is that the CPUs batting is very good. Even on All Star, I'm giving up 5 runs a game easily with Tim Lincecum, Randy Johnson, and Matt Cain. With the Giants offense, I max out at two runs a game, usually I score zero. I have hit a few HRs, all coming in unexpected situations with contact swings. Using the power swing when I have guessed the location and pitch type just doesn't seem to yield me good results.

I started on Legend, moved to HOF, moved to All Star. Like I said, on AllStar, I still can't hit and the CPU is still all over my pitching.

I think I might just have to move down to veteren. I can't believe I'm even saying that after how easy last years game was. What a difference a year makes.
