When we were at SD Chris Cutliff (Director of Production for the The Show) was in the room talking to us about comeback code and was straight forward in telling us there was no comeback AI by default. Meaning the option was put in there if you wanted something like that in the game for an extra challenge. From my understanding, the comeback option works for both the human and the cpu, whoever is trailing in the game.
So the possible reasoning would be what, a lack of focus? I agree sometimes that it seems like the AI always makes a comeback but not in the sense that the others feel...Most of the times I'm leaving my SP in too long or use a relief pitcher I can't locate with.

Another thought I had is the clutch factor for both hitting and pitching. Maybe it's rated in favor of the hitter too much rather than the pitcher.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Yep....and it is NOT scripted events....such as if you are winning the CPU will automatically get a double a walk and then a homerun.
If down by more than 3 runs(I think..).....the CPU or the USER will get a percentage boost to certain attributes(contact/power being the most obvious)...that's it!....no guaranteed anything....no magical runs in either direction....merely a little boost(say for arguments sake 10%)....so if you are facing a 55 power rated hitter....with the catch up logic on....he becomes a 60 power rating at that time.

Comeback code=nonsense(....and I'll leave out the IMO in this case...since it's not my opinion but a direct statement from the guys that MADE THE GAME...).
If you go looking for something...you're likely to find it......

The game a mind of its own!
I went 0-6 in my first 6 six games of the season and was really frustrated.
Then I went into TB and held them to 3 runs the entire series and shut them down every time they rallied.
Then again, when I played the Indians last night they scored 3 runs in the 9th to come within 1 but I struck out the last batter to win.
I blew a sigh of relief at the end.
Every game so far has been a ******* nail biter!
No easy wins for me this year.
We play today, we win today, das it!-

This is stupid. We just had a roughly 40 page thread on this that is still on the first page, but yet we have to go with another thread of this.

Re: This game has Comeback Code written all over it!!!

I just have to put my 2cents in on the matter...a few days ago I was going to comment on a similar thread stating that I too feel there may be some comeback code issue, however, after having played many more games since then to add to my SAMPLE SIZE (very important you play many games first before forming your opinion), I realized there is def no such thing as Comeback Code automatically kicking it if you have it turned off...

I think the issue is that most people are playing on HOF or Legend (I play HOF with slider edits) and I think the CPU hitting at those levels on default is just way too good. Every hitter is exceptional at those levels...if you leave any pitch in zone they will crush you...

Now I play using Classic pitching (which has a drop off in control), so I upped the pitcher control slider to 8 or 9 and turned the CPU contact down 1, solid hits down 2, and cpu timing down 2...I have been getting great results! Absolutely love the way the game is playing now...with a good variety in scoring (lost a few 1 and 2 run games last night before winning a blowout with the Red Sox 13-4 over the Indians. Lester threw 8 scoreless before giving up a hit in the 9th...I replaced him with Masterson how gave up several hits due to pitch location.

maybe the comeback code option is tied into the roster lineup bug as it doesn't work either.

I understand that the option was put in there to choose if you want to turn it on but why can't baa7 be right in saying that possibly there's a glitch and it's actually kept on??

I still think that's a possibility even though Russell said it's not in the game. I am by no means saying Russell is covering anything up at all I just think that he could POSSIBLY be wrong. I know that they wouldn't put it in on purpose. That's not my argument. I am just looking at what baa7 said and thinking that it could very well be a possibility. After all, isn't a glitch found out after the game comes out and is found out by the user's not the developers?? That's the way I always understood glitches.

Wow, the OP obviously wasn't the problem in this thread.

In fact, the best thing about it was davewins:

"This message has been deleted by davewins. Reason: i am bald"

What level are guys playing on? I'm on All-Star and I'm seeing a very good amount of variance in the games I've played. If I lose, I lose. I don't chalk it up to comeback code though.

Could it be the higher difficulty levels, since they are more difficult, actually make comebacks more possible against the user? Why not drop down a level?

Re: This game has Comeback Code written all over it!!!

Comeback AI caused me to hang a slider and give up a 3 run HR in the bottom of the ninth to tie it.

Because it's human nature to not get lost in the shuffle, thus the need to use multiple exclamation marks to make your point!!!!!!!!!!!

We get it!!!! You have issues!!!! I'm not referring to you countryboy!!!

Why not drop down a level?
ahahhahahahahahaa I thought nobody saw that!!!! lmao

                                No...

First...it wasn't just Russell who told us(me at the event DIRECTLY asking this question ) that...it was the devs...all of the Kolbe and Brian included.
.....and here is why I doubt the catchup logic(I hated that I even saw this option at the event...as I knew it would lead directly to this kind of talk)...is on either by default or as a glitch.
You guys do realize that the comeback logic works IN BOTH DIRECTIONS....if you are losing...it kicks in for YOU.
Why aren't guys seeing it the other way?
The user should then be hitting three run bombs or multiples of to come back all the time from a deficit.
Like I stated earlier...the logic doesn't even work that way.
