Thats my big question. I always thought the best part of the game was the realism of the scores in previous years. Every time you started the game you never knew what would happen. But now I am having no blowouts. eother for me or the computer. Should I play w/ it on or off or wll I just have to use my closer 120 games this season?
so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

Why in the world would someone thing that comeback AI would be good for a realistic game of baseball? It's definitely a problem that needs fixed.
BTW, I'm playing on All-Star and it does exist.NFL: Tennessee Titans
MLB: Cincinnati RedsComment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
It's not a problem if you don't play with it on it doesn't exist. Secondly when it is on all it does is give the cpu a slight contact boost when they are losing and a slight contact penalty when they are winning. Thats it no conspiracy theory.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Russell I respect the time that you put in here after you have worked so many months on the game. The only question I have for you is how do you know for sure that this option isn't in fact reversed?? Is there a diagnostic tool or something that goes through the entire game to see if any bugs like options being reversed happen?? It seems to me no matter who answers it at this point is just stating their most highly educated opinion.
I am just curious how does one come to conclusion that something isn't bugged in a game when it comes to something so vague such as this??
Most other bugs are really not under the hood and can pretty much be seen with the naked eye and confirmed. This seems to me is an under the hood "issue". I just don't see how anybody can come up with a definite answer at this point. Unless of course there is some sort of diagnostic tool that is used to find problems such as this possible one.Comment

I had a two hour long conversation with B Ma on this subject before the game had even shipped, also its not vague if the programmer says it aint so then it aint so. Just for good measure I did a 300 game test just for sh*ts and giggles still nothing. Also here at the studio we can set up a situation and run them over and over and over again to test things out like this.Russell I respect the time that you put in here after you have worked so many months on the game. Thank you for your answer. It is very vague compared to other bugs/glitches that you might run into in the glitches forum.I had a two hour long conversation with B Ma on this subject before the game had even shipped, also its not vague if the programmer says it aint so then it aint so. Just for good measure I did a 300 game test just for sh*ts and giggles still nothing. This post right here should end this discussion.
That is part of the development team telling you it is not there unless you turn the option on.
Anyone want to call him a liar?Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Same hereThe more i play with it ON and OFF (i.e. testing both) the more i feel (for me at least) its not "broken" or reversed, im winning games i should now with it off, i think it was just a matter of patience and playing better, i just won 6-0 and the CPU showed no sign of coming back whatsoever with it OFF, i pitched very well and got what i deserved, a thumping win.
For me its now OFF and will stay off, the conspiracy for me is over.
I do however see this thread running from now to eternity

Not going to call him a liar. I am just still entitled to my opinion and I will continue to believe what I believe. If that warrants any kind of ban or anything else then I'm game. I don't think this thread needs to be discussed anymore either. It's really a matter of how you want to play the game, with it on or off. This thread has saved the game for a lot of people and they enjoy the game even more playing with this option ON. That's all that matters and I am glad that I have gotten countless amount of PM's from users that were thanking me because they bought the system just for this game.
But, I agree. The discussion should end on the argument of on vs off. It should be a matter of do you want to play with it on vs off because it has helped many people here. Proof is in this thread and my pm box.Comment

no it should not end the discussion. I respect Russell's words and no one is calling him a liar. We just disagree with him and think they are mistaken. there is a big difference.
This thread here has the goal of interacting and helping other members of OS. If you read this whole thread there has been probably around 20 guys that were helped by the ideas of the OP Davewins. That is the essence of having a board like OS.
I don't think anyone in this thread has accused the SCEA team of lying, hiding, etc. If anything , this threa is a testament of how GOOD this game is. If this was any other game, a lot of people would have trashed it already , but they didn't and were rewarded with a good suggestion by the OP.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Exactly. My intentions here were to help people that were struggling with this "issue". There were a lot of threads about this "issue" prior to this one to state the obvious. Now at least some people whether it be 1 or 2 or 402 it doesn't matter. If it has helped one person enjoy the game more then I truly would be happy because it has helped me enjoy the game more.no it should not end the discussion. I respect Russell's words and no one is calling him a liar. We just disagree with him and think they are mistaken. there is a big difference.

This game is the sports game of the year EASILY. Without a question. If I can save this game from being returned or traded in ONE TIME then I am a happy man.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Here is the deal:
This thread is about playing with CPU COMEBACK OPTION ON. I am cool with that as long as it, from this point on, is not "This game has CPU Comeback code even with the option off".
Davewins is right - it has saved the game for people who play with it on. But that isn't because it is reversed or it's not there. It plays a different game with it on, and so be it.
After a game developer tells you there is no comeback code with the option off, I don't want to see it stated again.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
The more I play with it ON (larger sample size) the more I think it doesnt matter. Im starting to see some magical innings by the CPU again. Last night leading 8-2, CC Sabathia proceeded to give up 5 runs (3 of the runs came in an inning after a 2 errors by my infielders and another run came on an Orlando Cabrera HR). I just think that CPU comeback coding is in both modes.Comment
