Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Went up 8-0 against the Red Sox. Sure enough, next inning, I gave up 6 runs before recording an out. After they had cut the lead to 8-6, magically, they were popping up balls and hitting little rollers to short, just as they were when it was 0-0......Comment

I agree 100%
Now, this is a stellar example of how moderators should, well... moderate.
Chris, your a standout.
Of course, I'm more confused than ever and wonder if I can even trust my own judgement on this subject.
Here is the deal:
This thread is about playing with CPU COMEBACK OPTION ON. I am cool with that as long as it, from this point on, is not "This game has CPU Comeback code even with the option off".
Davewins is right - it has saved the game for people who play with it on. But that isn't because it is reversed or it's not there. It plays a different game with it on, and so be it.
After a game developer tells you there is no comeback code with the option off, I don't want to see it stated again.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
I just hope whatever we find out of all this is why does it play a different game when its on or off. Why when your ahead with comeback on are some players all of the sudden Babe Ruth on steroids and when its off they hit semi normal. I personally believe them that theres no comeback programmed intentionally, but I do feel that the game is programmed for the computer to press and find holes and gaps to score runs a little too easily when they are losing. Is that baseball yes, but not too the extent that it is on this game. Who knows maybe Im wrong but thats my opinion and its very odd that there are so many people who see this as something sketchy and just want some more information about it, and shoot why not since these guys show interest in customer feedback. These guys are great, they made an amazing 09 version and we all see how close they are to a perfect product but I guarantee you even they will admit this game isnt perfect. Here is the deal:

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Ya I experienced the exact same things in my games with it OFF. Why don't you try to switch it to ON?
I am 2-2 in my season after restarting.....first game lost 6-1, lost 6-4, won 5-2 then won 6-0.
the variety in the scores have been great using ON .
what level you play on ??Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Tonight I'm facing the Phillies with the Braves (fantasy draft)
All-Star default, pitching confidence off
I had Randy Johnson on the mound and he was throwing a gem!
8 innings, 8 K's, 3 hits, no walks, just dominating! It felt awesome.
9th inning rolls around I'm up 5-0.
-Leadoff HR
-Bring in Arthur Rhodes
-Dinger...5-2
-Double
-Popout!!!! Yeah!!!
-Bring in closer Joel Zumaya
-Single...5-3
-Single
-Single to load bases (These are all ROCKET singles)
-Flyout to right and Ichiro throws out the runner tagging from 3rd
Comeback was off...might turn it on tomorrow!Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
I still agree with davewins too. This has saved the game for my brother and me. We also both had to delete and reinstall the game from our systems because we had the issue of the game getting the difficulty levels mixed up or confused or something.
Believe me, my brother is the hardest person in the world to convince to try something like this. In his mind, it's, "F*** this game. It's bs. Get me some updated rosters for '08 so I can go back to it. This game is f'd up."
He finally is a believer after about a week of playing with comeback turned on.
BTW, davewins, I forgot to thank you before. So, thanks a million for trying this and reporting your findings. I doubt I would have tried it if it weren't for you. I was almost ready to give up and go back to '08 too.
So, in closing, I don't think there is a clear cut right or wrong. There seem to be a lot of inconsistencies from one gamer to the next. Like dave said, play it whichever way works best for you. For me, it's with comeback turned on.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Yeah, there is just too much of a coincidence with the stuff I am seeing. It would be different if, my pitchers were tired, and I walked a guy, gave up a bloop single, then a 3 run bomb. But I go from pitching great in a close game, to opening up a decent lead on offense, then getting absolutely shelled the next inning. And it doesn't matter where I am throwing it, or how. Even singles are rocket shots up the middle. Players who couldn't hit lefties worth a damn, and have every single hitting zone Blue, are crushing balls into the gap. Even if I hit the pitching meter perfectly. Then, all of a sudden, as soon as the game is back within their reach, they go back to hitting realistically. I'm going to try it with Comeback ON next time.Comment
