Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

Like I said, I could be wrong so I'm not going to debate it. But I would have to go back and check for myself before I'm convinced of it because I could've sworn I tried turning it off last year but it remained on.Comment

I know right, the developers even chimed in and said there was nothing reversed yet people are still clamoring how they think the settings are indeed reversed.Comment

Not that I really care...but why keep bumping this thread by posting in it if this thread bothers you so much. I always try and avoid posting in threads I want to die, because posting in it just helps contribute to its life.Comment

I don't know who is trying to convince anybody of anything. I honestly come here to read what others who are seeing a problem have to say and discuss it with them. I can't for the life of me understand why someone who doesn't believe there's a problem feels the need to discount what others are obviously really experiencing."There are only two seasons—winter and baseball." - Bill VeeckComment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

read some posts in this thread like my last few. It's all a matter of opinion. It's not fact based.

There were options reversed/broken in past games that could be easily identified (if magoo is indeed correct). If that's true then why can't the option be reversed/broken? This is not something you are going to see with your naked eye like the other options that were visual aids were. It's easy to say that the hr indicator works just fine if you see that it goes on. There is not much to debate there. This is all under the hood so it's a matter of personal opinion/feel. It's not fact based though. All you have to do is forget about everybody else and worry about yourself. If you enjoy it with it OFF then go ahead and play the crap out of this EXCELLENT game.

Like I said if you want to play with it OFF then I really have no idea why you are even in this thread to begin with. There is no debate on whether it's reversed or not. The debate is simply that it can not be debated. We can agree to disagree with this if you like but a dev's opinion is just that. His opinion based on the games that he played vs my (and others) opinion by the games that we played. It is not a factual argument for either side.Comment

I agree... and on another note, can someone explain to me if attributes and ratings play a big part in this game, how can I take Varitek and put him in CF and have him play like Ellsbury and also take Pedroia, put him in to pitch and have him pitch 5 scoreless innings of 2 hit, no walk ball?I don't know who is trying to convince anybody of anything. Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

Never said that this thread bothers me. I initially thought something screwy was going on with the FIRST week of the game and tried turning comeback on long before this thread and did not see any difference gameplay. If anything it was worse I had my first offensive outburst and the CPU matched me per inning. As of late just paying more attention to batter/pitcher match-ups, familiarity with the game (it's not 08) and Psycho's sliders I have been experiencing a completely different game than the first week of playing.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

I know for a fact that with it ON, it works just as designed. I tested by playing one of the better teams with their ace, going against the bad teams with their #5 guy, just to build a lead. They came back EVERY time, just as designed. I played about 8 games this way, on All-Star).

With it OFF, I've seen all kinds of games.

As I've said a million times, I don't think the problem is any sort of comeback AI. The "problem" is that the CPU is very very hard this year. All these super innings people are complaining about happen whether the CPU is trailing, tied, or already ahead. I did notice some of these complaints, I've been punished by the CPU and received my share of beatings.

If I had to complain about that, I think it's more tied into the confidence system. Seems that the pitchers (particularly the User's) unravel too quickly, while the CPU's pitchers tend to get the benefit and get out of jams easier.

I seem to give up ALL my runs in bunches...seems like it's always that one inning that gets me. The CPU doesn't really peck away much. It's all or nothing most of the time.

Most of my boxscores for the CPU look something like 000430003 or maybe a 000600000. Know what I'm saying?

But i haven't jumped on any conspiracy theory tirade. I do feel like I get better and better with my pitching. I've been able to hold the CPU to 2-5 runs consistently lately. And by lately I mean I haven't played in a week though, because my PS3 is currently out of commission Last edited by pbz06; 04-03-2009, 10:34 AM. Last edited by pbz06; 04-03-2009, 10:34 AM.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

I am not by any means saying that they are lying to us. I honestly think that that's how they feel about the game. That's fine. Many people do feel the game's comeback options are NOT reversed. That's fine. It's a matter of opinion and not fact though because I too have played over 100 games with it OFF and saw an immediate difference turning it ON.Because the likes of Brian and Ramone, people involved with the company that made the game (more specifically Brian the head AI man) tell you they have tested this hundreds/thousands of times (as they can with the setup they have) and it is NOT reversed or broken?

Or maybe they just want to lie to us all, just for the sheer LOL's, you know

What makes their "tests" any more conclusive then mine??Comment

Do you think their tests involve them sitting there playing for hours like we do? Honestly?Comment
