Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

Nothing will change my mind about how I feel on this subject. I am not convinced that anything is in fact reversed but I am convinced that playing with it ON I see the CPU batter's behave different. You would think they would be BETTER when the option is turned ON but in fact they are 100% worst in my experience with this option turned ON. I can strike out the CPU and get them to chase bad pitches out of the zone MUCH more frequent then my previous 100+ games with it set to OFF.

To each their own. I hope everybody enjoys the game because that's all that matters.

Can we please now kill these topics, there is nowhere else to go.
This thread is still helping people enjoy the game. Whether it is in fact reversed or not, some people out there have specifically not returned this game because of turning this option ON.

        i completly agree
with all due respect i have for brian, my game experience is what matters for me, this is a lot more imporatant than what dev. a or b says about the game...

and said that im keeping my game with the option ON, im seeing a lot more scores variaty...
like dave says this thread here is not about saying the option is reversed or not.. imo this is a thread that discusses how the game plays with it on..and imo it plays a lot better.

Yep, fair enough Dave, if people are having better games with it ON i have no issue and will call nobody a liar, because they believe what they are seeing, but at least we can put an end to the "its reversed" argument, i think you will agree with me on that?

People have a right to believe who they want to believe in any situation. I am not going to argue about if it's reversed or not in respect to the dev's who come in here and Millionaire (the moderator)...I believe his name was Millionaire. I will leave it at that. What I believe is what I believe and what others believe is what others believe.

Most importantly enjoy the game. It's way too good to be sitting here on these forums and not playing!! LOL....we are all guilty of that!

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

Okay, so I got tired of playing with Comeback ON. Because you know every game, no matter what, the AI is most definitely going to come back the very next half inning after you score. Done with that. I switched it back to OFF, and just listened to what a few people on this forum said. Mix up speeds, breaking pitches, and make SURE, and I mean SURE, that you work guys in their hot/cold zones. Make sure you know what their hot/cold zones are. I started doing this, and I swear it's a whole new game. Pitching is much better this way. I stopped experiencing those insane offensive bursts from the AI, although the AI can still put up potent offense and is still competitive.

The thing you have to do though, is adjust the User Starting Pitcher Fatigue slider. That's why you get lit up so bad by the AI. By you hit 60 pitches or more, a lot of the time they'll fatigue your pitcher to unrealistic proportions, and your pitches will start hanging over the plate and getting crushed.

The only problem that still exists and continues to ruin the game at times for me is the error glitch. It still only happens when you have a lead and there's two outs, usually men on base. It's really frustrating and needs fixed already. It's been in the game for like 3 years now.

I've been playing with CPU comeback on almost a full RTTS MLB SEASON and it's back to the same old crap that was happening when I had it off. If I fail an important goal, the cpu punishes me bu scoring 4+ runs before my next at bat. To me on or OFF doesn't make a difference in RTTS. I'll start playing some EXH games when my RTTS croakes...

I might try it on...or maybe I should move down to Veteran.

On All-Star default I have an 8-6 lead heading into the top of the 9th.

Joel Zumaya comes in and what happens...

                  single, K, ...

Back to back to back to back HR's. 11-8 just like that. Game over.

They would not chase a damn thing.

I pitched my entire life and know how to mix it up, so please don't offer any of that type of advice. It's pretty frustrating.

The problem I have had is playing 8 great innings of baseball, enjoying every second!

I gave up 6 runs with Halladay in 6 innings (grand slam killed me) but fought back with walks & clutch hits to take the lead.

I'm gonna do another fantasy draft and get a stud closer early! Maybe that will help. I figured Zumaya would be fine though.

Sounds like the RNG might be a PRNG which means there are good random properties in the code however a psuedo random number generator creates a sequence which repeats itself exactly or the memory usage grows without bound.

The Padres can sympathize with that one.

I am going to go home after work and do a test:

I am going to play as a Legends team, with Nolan Ryan at pitcher. I will pick a mediocre team to play against, like the National. I am going to manually control the other team, and intentional walk in about 5 or 6 runs, in the top of the first inning. I am then going to switch back to my team, with Nolan Ryan as pitcher. With a 6-0 lead in the 1st inning, I will almost guarantee that the CPU will knock Nolan around in the 1st or 2nd inning.

Been really messing with this setting lately and I have had remarkable progress in isolating that their is most definately some sort of glitch.

I have been able to on numerous occasions halt a super AI explosion with this setting. I will have it off and play the game normally until the AI gets a crazy rally that cant be stopped. The one where my second basemen drops a key DP turn or the ball goes through the legs of my SS.

I can immediately go in and turn this on and it will halt immediately.

What I beleive is that the setting is always on no matter what the settings say but the part where it removes the rating increase ceases to function and it is left on. By turning on this setting it actually makes it work correctly and shuts off when it is supposed to. Thus the games are still close at around 4 runs most times but the function allows for the comeback code to turn off before they get closer or bypass you.

If this is the case, it definitely has nothing to do with the setting you changed.
