Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Is there a slider that deals with user pitcher stamina. I honestly do not know. I only look at the hitting sliders but you could be possibly right. Why don't you try an experiment if you haven't already and max out that user pitcher stamina slider and see what happens. Worst comes to worst you throw 5 complete games in a row and then you can tweak it back down although I doubt that will happen.SCEA honestly needs to do some sort of tweaking to the pitching system, that is the problem here. The AI comes back because the user's pitchers completely DIE by the time they throw like 70-80 pitches, and regardless of how you time the meter and place the ball, it still hangs them out over the middle of the plate.
You can somewhat fix this by screwing with the sliders, but nothing fixes it completely. The "Glitch" lies in the pitching and the fielding "errors", it isn't that the AI's offense steps it up to ridiculous standards. I've had times where they might get a few on base, but I'll get them to ground into what should be a DP and end the inning, only the ball magically goes through my defender.
This is the stuff that can ruin the game for you at times.Comment

I completely disagree.
If there was a CONSENSUS that this was an actual problem and not a perceived problem from the point of view of a vocal minority, there would be a sticky already--probably from SCEA.[Insert clever, personally-relevant, or cutting-edge remark, data, link, or picture]Comment

Good for you. What you fail to realize is that this has saved the game for many people.
I don't understand why you are so bitter about this thread. Is it really that hard to just enjoy this game the way that you enjoy it??Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
You could be right. I was just thinking that if this is to really help it should be condensed. It's just beyond help now as there is too much that doesn't/won't get read by people looking for help. This thread has become unwieldy, because much of it has nothing to do with the topic. According to SCEA, no comeback code, believe them 100%. There is a fix for people having problems, simple as that.Comment

Why are you so worried about the thread? I've never understood people wanting to close threads that are long. Obviously there is much discussion over it, why would you want it closed? Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
I haven't posted in here in a long time. Whose worried? Doesn't a sticky put it right at the top of the page for everyone to read? My point is, if people have to read through a ton of stuff that has nothing to do with the solution. This is a workaround. Doesn't make a bit of difference to me then. Keep it open and it will grow to over 100 pages, plus. Wonder why people post new threads on the same topic? Because they have to read through so many pages of stuff that meaningless to the topic.Comment

This might be my first post but I'm hoping this workaround actually works. This is my third year for The Show and all of the sudden I'm disgusted. Between the CPU shifting lineups though I'm supposed to be in control and now CPU always winning miraculously through my fielders errors, timely hitting, etc. I'm about to put it back in the box. I like to win close games, I don't want to hit hr every game, etc. but man it's not like all the sudden I forgot how to play...
Looks like this has been a sore topic. Not trying to stir the pot but man am I frustrated.Comment

I think you're better off toning down the CPU Timing/Contact/Power/Solid Hits sliders 2 notches before switching the comeback option, because it does in fact work the way it's supposed toThis might be my first post but I'm hoping this workaround actually works. Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Some people swear it's reversed, but it's not. This game is just much harder in general and the CPU is uber aggressive. They do seem to go into spurt mode, but that happens at any phase of the game. Sometimes when they're ahead already, sometimes when the game is tied, and god forbid sometimes when they're trailing. It's more of the confidence being overly affected in my honest opinion.
I have been able to tame it down by getting better at pitching, and by reducing the CPU hitting sliders to what Psycho Bulk has them at (check the Sliders part of the forum).
I've tested it with ON, and the CPU did in fact comeback every time just as designed or make late rallies to make the game close.
In my COUNTLESS games with if OFF, I've had various results. I've won in blowouts, i've lost in blowouts, I've won close games, I lost close games...I blew late leads, but I've also comeback late etc.
I can't speak for other people because they see things in their games, but I honestly don't see it....at allComment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
thxs. From what i hear and have experienced the comback on makes the game more of an arcade game. Alot of runs. With it off they have come back 2 times in 4 games where i would get the win with my SP and the HD and SV but i came back in the 9th inning after an 8th inning ralley. So if someone wants them to hi alot of runs against u then turn it on, go to Legend turn the CPU hitting sliders to 10+ haha and have fun 0-100001 hahaSome people swear it's reversed, but it's not. the dodgers used the "comeback code" in real life apparently. Lets lock this thread up now. Thank You  <object width="560" height="340">

While I was guilty of this myself much earlier in this thread I hate to preach. However this isn't fact it's just your opinion. You can not prove/disprove this topic plain and simple. First part you are stating it as a fact. Last part is a better way to speak of your feelings.
While I have seen the exact opposite results as you playing with it OFF it doesn't mean that I have to come out and say you are wrong and you are basically lying. Of course that's what you see and I respect that. That is why I believe this topic can not really be debated. It's all a matter of opinion and feel of the game. It's not a visual option that everybody can see when they turn the game on such as fielder marker not being there when it's turned ON in the settings.Last edited by davewins; 04-15-2009, 07:29 AM.Comment

something i would not see until i turned the option ON.
I completly agree with dave, and i must say one thing, i dont know if the option is reversed or not, but ONE THING I CAN SAY, ITS NOT WORKING AS IT WAS SUPPOSED TO....
im 28-22 in my season, all games played with the option turned ON, i had blow outs in my favor as high as 22-6, 11-0, 10-0 and 8-0 and ive also gotten blown away by the AI by 11-0 , 13-1 , 10-3 ...
keep in mind that in my previous season(over 50 games- had a winning record too) with the option turned OFF i had never seen a game with more than 5 run diference, wich is why i suspected on the rubber band effect on the first place...
all that on legend.Last edited by brunnoce; 04-15-2009, 07:45 AM.---------------
