dave, you have me fired up. Damn video game programming must be tough. Here's what I wonder though. Who in hell would want to play with comeback on if when they bought this game out the box. They're must be somebody or they wouldn't have it. I always hated that as an option in racing games and it makes no sense why anyone would even want to utilize it in a baseball game. Anyway I'm taking a few nights off to watch the madness but if you could please just keep posting your box scores and I continue to here good things then I will get the motivation to start my 3rd franchise of the year.
so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
ok guys, im not gonna say 100% this comeback option is backwards since i didnt program this game, and i know nothign about it...
but the game is just a lot EASIER to pitch with this option on...ive just finnished my second game , take a look:
DET(me) 5-9-0
SEA 0-7-0
now thats back to back shoutouts i throw...both games i played iwth number 1 starters so its acceptable...
now before those 2 games i have never ever pitched a shotout on legend mode...
so theres definatly something difernt here guys.
btw i have the AI sliders all at 0 (-5) ...so dont think with this option on it makes the game ultra easy,... but im definatly feeling my sliders change now..cause before it didnt matter what slider i set for the AI, they would aways rock me if i scored some runs on them...Last edited by brunnoce; 03-20-2009, 07:30 PM.---------------

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Sounds to me like default legend with comeback on equals March 3rd all over again. Although, I think we still might need to lower the CPU timing or contact a little to get the strikeouts where they should be. I'll probably still stick with Skyboxers sliders.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
The weird thing is that if the comeback isn't reversed, it's broken. When I have comeback turned to ON, I don't get anything resembling comebacks in my games. So if it's not reversed, it's still broken.
This is why I hate comeback, clutch, unity, and other stupid things that you can't quantify in sports. It gets screwed up nearly everytime.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Yes I don't know about comeback. All I can say about comeback is well I haven't seen it yet in 3 games played!! I have been up by 6 runs and 7 runs and held those leads for a very long time 6+ innings. That's when the comeback is supposed to come on the most. When you have the bigger lead. Well I didn't see it come on at all with comeback on.ok guys, im not gonna say 100% this comeback option is backwards since i didnt program this game, and i know nothign about it...

What I do know positively 100% for sure is the CPU isn't as good with comeback on. The most strikeouts I got before was 5 in all against the CPU on legend and that game I was on fire. This game against the A's with the Red Sox I got 5 with Lester and 3 with Saito. I can't believe the difference between pitching with it on vs off. The CPU will go out of the zone more. They actually swing at bad pitches. I just set up Eric Chavez so good. I gave him some high heat and then low curve and then came back with high heat but JUST out of the zone and he swung and missed for strike 3. Wow is all I can say. It is absolutley positively 100% different for me. For you, I don't know that's for you to decide. But bottom line is I am very happy right now and hope others can be as well.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Sounds like you're referring to me. What I meant was if I had a choice between a game that was too easy or a game that was tough but had some (not blatant) cheating then I'll take the tough game. Why don't you come forward and tell us which you'd prefer?
Stop taking people out of context, and why are you hanging around this thread anyway? I thought the game played perfect for you - no comeback AI etc on veteran level?Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Good point too about the sliders. Maybe the sliders are active now for the cpu when they weren't before?? I really don't know. I don't know what's going on but I know SOMETHING is going on and that is more realistic pitching. It's almost too easy to pitch now LOL. Well never TOO easy but it really is that much easier. I have power and solid contacts zeroed out. I might actually have to bump them up a little for the CPU.ok guys, im not gonna say 100% this comeback option is backwards since i didnt program this game, and i know nothign about it...

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
That's great to hear. I'm glad that it's working for you.Just played my first game with Comeback code ON. Most definitely it is NIGHT and DAY.
Computer makes more mistakes with it on. I was up 3-0 and the computer never came close to coming back. They had Votto on 2nd base with 1 out and that is the closest they would come to scoring a run.
I will be keeping it ON for now...Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Please lets just keep this thread to the recent box scores and developments of what happens with the comeback option off. We got something exciting going on here. I really don't want to read anymore posts about people calling each other out it just got old real fast.Sounds like you're referring to me. What I meant was if I had a choice between a game that was too easy or a game that was tough but had some (not blatant) cheating then I'll take the tough game. Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
Hey man good question. Who would? I guess people that want that extra challenge. So nobody could complain about the game being too easy. I really don't know. It's kind of strange to me.dave, you have me fired up. Damn video game programming must be tough. Here's what I wonder though. Either way why don't you just give it a try. You may see nothing or you may see how different it has been playing for some of us here. If I were you I would just keep it on and don't be too quick to turn it back to off because it could be your pitching and you might not be hitting your spots. If you make mistakes you will still give up hits. Now though it feels much more rewarding to get a guy to ground out into a dp when you made a SLIGHT mistake on the mound instead of having the CPU hit a 430 ft bomb followed by base hit after base hit after base hit.Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
If you mean the USER striking out the CPU and it didn't happen enough prior then let me tell you, you will notice the difference. You will see that you can rack up strikeouts. I just got 5 in 6 innings with Lester when my previous high for an entire game was 5. I got 8 (3 with Saito in 2 IP)Comment

Re: so I played my first game with CPU comeback set to ON
DAve all i can say is thank u...u saved this game for me...
i just finnished my 3rd game...
im pithcing with lincecum, and finnally he feels like lincecum...cause before your findings i would pitch well with him or other Aces until that god inning where the AI would get like u say: hit after hit after hit after hit...
the game feels very diferent now man...dont know how to explain, but it feels diferent...more natural id say, since i dont have the certanty any longer that after the AI get 2 hits in a inning they would score 4-5 runs on me like before no matter how, with who or what i pitched to them.---------------
