Just played Boston again with comeback off and lost 3-1. Total opposite of the last game I posted about earlier. I fast forwarded through the batting so I pitched only. It's frustrating though when you fast forward because the computer switches pitchers on it's own.

It was 1-1 until the 8th inning and the game decided to sit Shields who was doing great and instead brings in Speier who can't pitch in the stretch. He gave up 2 runs until I could get Fuentes warm.

Good day overall - a high scoring blowout and a low scoring affair with cold bats. These were different than most games I've played lately with most ending close and with mid-range scores.

These games are all different on or off. I can beat computer on Legend and I can turn around and get beat 8-1 on allstar. The setting on or off doesnt affect me. With on I saw the computer come roaring back. With off I've seen computer comeback. In the end its baseball.

Ever score a couple runs in an inning just to have the cpu respond by making 2 outs then turning every batter into Barry Bonds? Yes? ME TOO. I can even predict CPU homeruns off me depending on the batter!

These work for me a little following any half inning after i score or i am up more than 2 runs...

- Turn Umpires Variable OFF so the strike zone is always the same. The CPU variable umpire will often call obvious strikes for balls in an attempt to get their hitters into favorable counts.

- Never throw a pitch into a hitters hot zone if you can help it. Before throwing a pitch to any batter always check their hot/cold zones. Beware the CPU catcher assist will sometimes try to trick you into throwing a pitch into the CPU batter hot zone resulting in homeruns and such. So ignore that pitch call.

- Minimize breaking pitches such as curves and sliders..these pitches often wind up in the middle of the plate or as wild pitches regardless of perfect pitch meter once CPU enters GOD MODE.

- Mound visit when your pitchers confidence is low

- Warm up closer for ninth regardless of score at that time

- Never intentionally walk anyone. Ever.

Hope this helps someone. I still think this is the best baseball gamer evar

This is how it usually happens. Pretty much the the next half inning immediately after the User scores runs. I cannot begin to count how many times this has happen. My favorite is if i score 2 runs in an inning the CPU follows with a lead off 1run HR to begin things.

Let's put it this way: with it set to ON, it is not a guarantee that the CPU will or will not come back. To me it just makes them fight back realistically, how a real team would approach a losing predicament, sometimes successfully, sometimes not, it's great.

I came out and beat the Astros and won again in a realistic fashion tonight. Jeff Francis on the mound gave up 3 runs, all in a poor 6th inning where I nibbled a bit too much and got behind to the first 3 hitters and paid for it. That wasn't the CPU making my pitches miss as before; that was me trying to get a bit too cute with a lineup that I had been dominating for 5 innings. My fault.

But, unlike virtually ANY game before the switch, my bullpen came in and did it's job perfectly for the win. I got 15 hits, and noticed in the past few games my team's average has gone up substantially. It finally feels like I'm hitting how I want to. I'm hitting a lot of balls to the opposite field as opposed to pulling them terribly beforehand, also I'm hitting decent amounts of homers now (about one a game).

My results since I turned the handicap ON are 6-2, 5-9, 0-4, 5-2, 5-9, 5-8 and 5-3. These are much more realistic scores than nearly every game ending with a one run difference.

It feels easier in some respects but I'm still losing games (good sign), but having better chances to win, hitting better, pitching better and actually making my own luck instead of having the CPU decide it for me.

This game is more amazing every time I play it now.

I still don't know what to think, I played the last two games with it off and jumped out to a 5-0 lead and won 5-2. Second game I jumped out to a 7-0 lead and won 7-2.

I'm just not having any problems at all pitching, I wonder if veteran may be to easy a level for me. Problem is though hitting is to hard on the higher levels.

I'm in a tough spot I think.

Ok, I've played several games with comeback off and on. I really haven't noticed any significant differences. I have no idea if it is reversed or not, but either way, the comeback programming is subtle.

I can't find any difference whether its on or off. And I do, like many others notice that the cpu almost always answers your score with a score of its own in its half inning. And nearly all of my games are won or lost by one run mostly decided in the late innings, 7th inning on. People can claim this doesn't happen, or they've never seen it all they want, but I have no reason to say it does. I've been a fan of this game since it was 989. But this years offer with this problem, does take away from the game IMO.

thats exactly how i feel...im already convinced on that due to my results...so theres really no need for me to keep coming here and repeating everything ive said already...
i hope this solution is helping other people like me(and im pretty sure it is)

seems you re having the same problems i was..so i highly suggest u try this setting ON for at least a handfull of games and see what happens and how it feels
maybe this is your solution too

I'm in a tough spot I think.[/quote] I'm in same boat as you, I just decided to go allstar and strikeout tons and lose a ton too. I will eventually get better of course, for me it's the breaking stuff! I HATE Beckett's curve and some changeups make me look horrid. I like you can really get a grove pitching but I have struggled to generate more than 2 runs a game other than a bunch of late inning Hr's. Veteran is just too easy though and does not feel right. I am going to try the "ON" comeback now and see what it does. My games have all, for the most part been close.
