Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
The whole "not good enough" thing is nowhere close to valid. I'm on All-Star default. Not one slider change except pitcher confidence, which is off. All other hitting aids are off too.
Once again, I don't suck at the game.Comment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
i dont know why im doing this but oh well...
I call shenanigans on "non power hitters, hitting homers on balls in the dirt"... if you want to prove me wrong please upload the videos.
this just does not happen, and your embelishing doesnt help your case at all.
there is no freaking comeback code in this game.
especially not one where it allows "julio lugos" to hit bombs from balls "in the dirt"...
maybe you are just not good at the game... have you ever thought of that?
im not trying to be harsh but damn.≡Comment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
I just put together a 3 game winning streak on default Legend against the Royals winning:
Game 1: 4-2 (pitched a perfect 7th, 8th, and 9th inning - gave up a walk in the 8th, but turned a DP on the next AB)
Game 2: 5-4 (I scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th to win)
Game 3: 10-0 (complete domination)
Just sharing if it means anything...I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
Did you even read the entire post? Where did I say that Chone hit a home run on a low outside fastball? The ball went magically over the plate while I was pitching low and outside. If any of you ever pitched in real life or know anything about baseball, you would understand what some of us are saying about the comeback code. Again I must stress. ANY MLB PITCHER CAN PITCH LOW AND OUTSIDE, OR HIGH AND OUTSIDE WHENEVER THEY WANT. BALLS DON'T MAGICALLY GO RIGHT OVER THE PLATE WHEN TRYING TO PITCH AROUND A HITTER. ALSO, THERES AN OPTION TO TURN OFF COMPUTER COMEBACKS. ITS IN THE GAME PEOPLE...

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
I'm not saying pitchers don't miss their spots. I"m saying that a pitcher in real life especially in the Major Leagues are not going to send the ball right over the plate when trying throw way outside. Thats all. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, I play it all the time and I don't mind if I lose, I want a challenge but I want it to be fair. Its seems like every game I play the cpu does something that I can't stop no matter what I do. Also the fact that others are saying the same thing validates that there is something to be said about the cpu all of sudden turning into superman.Last edited by sirstikealot; 04-02-2009, 07:20 PM.Comment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
I think what he's saying is if you aim far outside the zone to pitch around a hitter, but end up missing your release point and hanging a curveball then oops - yes that can end up in the zone. However, a fastball aimed at the same place with a good release and lower speed should not float over the plate (unless maybe you max the meter at full speed.) I just don't see this happening when I'm trailing in a game, only when leading. When you're up 0-2 and aim a splitter in the dirt (which is your #2 pitch) with good confidence and perfect release and it ends up belt high middle of the plate it's like ????
Also, he has a point. Comeback code (or ratings boosts) were programmed in the game. I don't know how much resources or time was needed to implement this into the game but it doesn't seem like it would be a popular feature for the mainstream public to use. Heck, even experienced players ask where to find the switch to turn it on & off. It's not a marketed feature - nobody knows it's there. If a kid or noob were to play against an experienced adult player can't you just put him on rookie and yourself on a higher difficulty? I just can't see anyone wanting to use the comeback feature.Last edited by swaldo; 04-02-2009, 07:25 PM.Comment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
Something else...how many pitchers(aside from issuing an intentional walk) are going to pitch "way outside"? I mean, if they did, it would be a passed ball that goes to the backstop and is a big problem if a runner is aboard.

Also, your little rant about the combeback option being in the game is silly. The option is only designed to give a ratings boost to the CPU when they are down and a ratings hit when they are up. There's more detail than that, but that's the jist. Suggesting that an option for that suggests the game is clearly designed to have comeback AI is a stretch at best.
The thing is, what a lot of people are claiming about these comebacks goes well beyond what the feature is designed to do. IF there were a problem, my guess is it would be found elsewhere (meaning via difficulty level, pitcher confidence, etc). I don't see it, but that would make more sense, IMO.
It's awefully sad that you resorted to this comment: " If any of you ever pitched in real life or know anything about baseball, you would understand what some of us are saying about the comeback code."
It's insulting (and franky, baseless) and only adds to how defensive your whole post sounds. If you are one of the small group of people (who, according to you, are the few knowledgeable baseball fans around...lol) then I'm sorry you're seeing what you're seeing.
Have you tried the suggestions in Davewins' thread? I'm asking because people who are having issues swear by it. If not, might want to give it a try.Last edited by SoxFan01605; 04-02-2009, 07:31 PM.Comment
