I dont know if i do mate, think about big league hurlers, apart from very rarely, do you think they intend to throw it down the middle of the zone? I doubt it, they aimed for a corner and missed badly, just as we do as their virtual pitcher.

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
Why do you mention only the times when you get punished? There are plenty of other occasions when that low and away fastball ends up, for instance, tight inside for a strike. I like the way the pitcher's attributes and confidence level contribute to the degree of accuracy of the pitch. I personally would find it very boring (as well as unrealistic, as PsychoBulk says) if I always knew exactly where the pitch was going as soon as I had clicked on the meter.Comment

That was a good post by Zinger, hey I didnt know Backgammon had world champions.
Anyway, I have not been able to move up from vet this year and I am fine with it. i want to enjoy the game to the fullest extent and I think it is at vet this year.Comment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
Dorismary, I would check out Backyard Baseball 2000. In that game, the ball will ALWAYS go exactly where you want it to go.
Or, in MLB The Show, you could edit EVERY PITCHER in the game to have perfect control of EVERY pitch, and take all the pitch control sliders all the way to the right..... no wait, there would still be programming built into the game for pitches to be inaccurate some times.
Oh well, buy Backyard Baseball![Insert clever, personally-relevant, or cutting-edge remark, data, link, or picture]Comment

I actually did the same thing with Pedroia and I got a kick out of itComment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
Good point about the pitchers. Any pitcher especially the ones who pitch in the majors can pitch around anybody they want. Somehow though in the Show 09 they can't when the cpu is behind. Low and away fatballs somehow magically go right down the middle like its predetermined. I wish SCEA would just admit they screwed up.
Oh great....here we go again...Comment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
I love how the attributes affect where pitchers throw the ball! It's a great part of the game and 100% true because I was a pitcher and hell no I couldn't locate every pitch where I wanted.
With that said...when you bring in a very solid bullpen guy (Zumaya) and every 9th inning the CPU miraculously mounts a comeback, that's when things suck.
Once in a while I would not complain. Every damn time, I start to scratch my head. The number of people saying this make it seem, to me, that their is a problem.Comment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
I'm not normally a conspiracy guy but whether it is comeback, confidence, clutch or something else, my closer hasn't had a single clean save all year. By that I mean a 1-2-3 9th inning. The simple law of averages would have at least one clean save by the middle of June.
I would love to see exactly how "clutch" and "confidence" are coded in this game. I suspect those are the culprits which are warping the game and causing this.≡Comment

I'm up on the Angeles 3 to 1 in the bottom of the 6th inning pitching with Jake Peavy. In the top of that inning I hit a two run homer with Gerut. The only run so far by the Angels was a solo shot from Vlad on a mistake pitch which was totally my fault. At this point I'm pretty much cruising along with Peavy and then all of a sudden everything changes. It goes walk, single, routine ground ball to Eckstein so I'm thinking double play but Eckstein lets the ball go right thru his legs, one run scores. Now theres first third nobody out. Here comes Chone Figgins. I have him down 1-2. I aim low and way outside the zone but somehow the ball goes right over the plate and Chone takes me deep for a three run shot. Thats not realistic, that doesn't happen in real life. I'm not saying that Chone can't hit a home run, what I'm saying is that if a major league pitcher wants to throw it low and way outside, he'll be able to pretty much every single time. Now I get the fact that this is a video game but SCEA does claim that this is the most realistic baseball made. Also, there is an option for cpu comebacks so thats pretty much proves that there is a comeback logic coded into the game.Comment

Re: Someone Please Save This Game For Me
If theres no comeback logic hardwired into this game then why is there an option for it? also, can you (Brian) explain how non power hitters are hitting home runs off pitches that are low and away, sometimes even in the dirt. This only happens when the cpu is trailing. What about all the weird errors that just seem to happen when the cpu is making its comeback. All this happens way too much for it not be programmed into the game. I'm just looking for some honest answers. I still love this game and will continue to play it until my season is over.
I call shenanigans on "non power hitters, hitting homers on balls in the dirt"... if you want to prove me wrong please upload the videos.
this just does not happen, and your embelishing doesnt help your case at all.
there is no freaking comeback code in this game.
especially not one where it allows "julio lugos" to hit bombs from balls "in the dirt"...
maybe you are just not good at the game... have you ever thought of that?
im not trying to be harsh but damn.#SimnationComment

My head hurts from the inanity of this.
OK, you are right sir. That scenario has NEVER HAPPENED IN THE HISTORY OF BASEBALL. Have a nice day.[Insert clever, personally-relevant, or cutting-edge remark, data, link, or picture]Comment
