    It is science.

I think you are blurring the lines between video game and real life (BTW, the fact that we're getting to the point that this is happening more and more easily is pretty cool).

Yes, physics do apply, but we must keep in mind that this game is a *simulation*. Just like it must simulate a batter actually swinging a bat, it attempts to simulate when that batter feels like he times everthing perfectly and squares up, but *occasionally* misses by an inch resulting in a less than perfect hit.

Seriously? I am amazed that you all are taking the time to talk to make these changes now. It's absolutely fantastic. These changes help create a more realistic environment... something your team has obviously done so well to this point. I'm hoping that Progressive Field in Cleveland has gotten it's Hi-Def video boards in this season as they were absent last year. Same with Great American Ballpark. Last season they installed a whole new scoreboard system as well.

My point and I promise this'll be for the last time as I don't think people are either getting it, or they're dismissing it or I'm out of my mind (which I don't dismiss).

And I don't want this to come off as something that would ever prevent me from loving this game. Despite his many years of success, I doubt Ricky Henderson could formulate the physics of batting, so being a player and explaining why the physics of baseball work are not exclusive to each other.

I grant that anything can happen during an at bat. I grant that anything can happen even if you know the pitch and time it right. I grant that anything can happen if any one of the variables is missing or off by even a millimeter. But (and it's a big but ), if I do everything correctly ... and the beauty of the SHOW is that you know exactly if you're timing it right and you know location and you know pitch ... the percentage of time you make poor contact should be minimal.

And that shall be my final bellyache about that. Good day.

            Good post.
Plus there is no trajectory input(For lack of better words right now just think MLB Power Pros and PYS baseball games) in The Show. So while you may get the timing down and the location down but the bat will not be on the same trajectory (Uppercut etc..) every swing. Hense the randomness...
So it just not bat location and timing that decide the balls path...

There's no reason to worry about it. It's almost as if some of you are LOOKING for something complain about.

The game has that baseball feel. To a -T-.

Quick story - Dodgers-Reds, I was up 1-0 in the top of the 9th... I somehow managed to get the batting order back to Manny with first and second. Worked a 3-2 count... runners go... I get a low pitch fastball... and I launch it 460 some odd feet to give me a 4-0 lead. Broxton came in and sealed the door.

Game is amazing out of the box on Hall of Fame, head to head and vs. the CPU. It's not perfect, but it's right up there as the best sports game you can buy that replicates its sport with amazing authenticity.
No Pared I am not just looking for something to complain about. This is not real life it is a game and for a game to simulate real life then there has to be physics involved or it can't work. I think maybe you are mistaken my comment. I was watching the " Czar batting tips " for 09 and he said in order to make good contact the PCI ( plate coverage indicator " has to be in the middle of the ball to make solid contact, and if this is correct you should hit the ball solidly, not pop up or miss completely. This does not gurantee a hit of course. So in order to pop the ball up the PCI would be just under the ball resulting in a pop up. Now am I correct in understanding this ? That is the point I am trying to make. Thats all.
Seems people are getting their back up when we bring something up that is questionable.

I understand what you are getting at. My biggest gripe was in these instances where you get wheelhouse/perfect timing it seemed to be when the pitchers confidence was highest. I felt like when the pitcher confidence was high no matter how well you hit the ball it was going to be an out. I found a nice set of sliders that combated this issue. I still play this game right now so just like you its nothing that takes away from the gameplay. As I type this I also realize that it could all be in my head.

well, I have never been more amped up for a game release. As a fan of the series which coincidently was the reason i bought the ps3, I could not be happier with the development of this game.

No need to reply just know that someone who is a baseball game enthusiast, been playing all of them from text varieties to all arcade incarnations since the 80's, this is something special.

                    Thank you.

Thank you SCEA, for adopting my ideas for a Playoff feature and eventually an 'online franchise'. No credit needed to be given... I am just happy you are working towards it...

That is really disappointing, I hate looking in the outfield to see seats.... We posted about the bleachers half a year ago in the stadium feedback thread...

They did update Denard Span (after I said something... I think they hate every time I point out a stance now ) and we did have them address the issue of players hands being in front of the pitching meter. That should no longer be an issue for guys like Sheffield.
lol my brother could never get Span out because his hands were covering the pitch meter. He was one of my favorite players to use in 09.

I have a couple of questions that I haven't seen addressed yet. It might just be a little too early still, but I shall ask anyway.

Did they fix the rule 5 draft, meaning either keep those 22 year old draft picks from being eligible or else make sure that the CPU actually protects them by adding them to the 40 man prior to the rule 5 draft?

Did they fix the pinch hitter glitch that forced you to pitch with the pinch hitter to throw at least once prior to being able to change pitchers? (quite possibly this can be worked around with the new replace pitcher while still batting feature).

Which is why I hope someday they add these changes in your motion (it may make your throw more wacky). Heck, say you're in the middle of a throw, that would be cool to be able to do a "backdoor" motion, where you end up holding up your throw but continue the arm swing, then whip around to the place you're now going to throw it in an attempt to get another runner off the base. As an addition to that, it would be cool if they added a fake throw button altogether like Interplay had, for rundowns and such.

And I thought I'd bring up my strike zone question again since I don't think it was answered, but if you guys honestly don't know that's cool too. Here was my post on that:
