Re: Post thoughts here for Community Day Hands-on Impressions
My point and I promise this'll be for the last time as I don't think people are either getting it, or they're dismissing it or I'm out of my mind (which I don't dismiss).
And I don't want this to come off as something that would ever prevent me from loving this game. Despite his many years of success, I doubt Ricky Henderson could formulate the physics of batting, so being a player and explaining why the physics of baseball work are not exclusive to each other.
I grant that anything can happen during an at bat. I grant that anything can happen even if you know the pitch and time it right. I grant that anything can happen if any one of the variables is missing or off by even a millimeter. But (and it's a big but), if I do everything correctly ... and the beauty of the SHOW is that you know exactly if you're timing it right and you know location and you know pitch ... the percentage of time you make poor contact should be minimal.
And that shall be my final bellyache about that. Good day. What if he does everything right? No two pitchers pitches are the same, of course.
If you do everything right (even including guessing right on the pitch) you still have no idea of just how effective that pitch will be. I can guess sinker, time my swing perfectly, get the fat of the bat on the ball and, because of the effectiveness of the spin of the ball, dribble it to the pitcher.
Your points, while certainly valid, are mostly from the singular perspective of the batter it seems. The pitcher will have his say too! That's still science, still physics...but it's also that level of unknown that exists between two opposing forces. Of course it's not perfect and there is always room for improvement, but I think in many ways The Show captures it about as well as, if not better than anything I've ever played.
(and, for the record, I don't see you as bellyaching...you've articulated your position well. I just think you've focused too much on one aspect is all.)

I see what you are trying to get at, but I think what's being forgotten in all this is that guy delivering the ball. What if he does everything right? No two pitchers pitches are the same, of course.

You brought up a point that I saw at CES as well. When you tap the button to throw from the OF the arc is too high. I mentioned it to Russell when I was at CES but it was Ramirez so I was hoping it was just because it was him but I had my doubts that it could happen to all fielders.
Did it sound like the arc could be tamed down easily when you talked to the guy in charge of that area?PSN: ToxicitiComment

re: Community Day Questions, Answers, and Impressions
I havent ever played the Show and dont even own a PS3 yet, but am seriously considering getting one soon. I have a couple of questions concerning this game, that I could not find. If they are commonly known or have been asked before I appologize, like I said im not familiar with this series. As I mostly play the franchise mode in sports games:
1. Is there an option to change the number of games to be played per season in the franchise mode?
2. Are minor league teams just there for rosters, or are they playable in franchise mode?Comment

Good point. If the pitcher makes a perfect pitch and the hitter times/locates perfectly there has to be some conclusion based on both factors not the singular perspective.Comment

Re: Post thoughts here for Community Day Hands-on Impressions
sadly the one thing I thought may be in..add DH as a position so we dont have guys playing the field that never/rarely do is not in...but the roster control will make it so papi sits his a$$ on the bench...thanks for the answer Russel..Comment
