Great question actually, I've seen a few of the guys say they look awesome. I'm hoping they SOUND awesome as well.

Not sure who here play Assassin's Creed 2, but they had fireworks in the game and they looked and sounded great.

Hit variety, outfield turf "viscosity" and the ability to pick any stadium in franchise have me on the edge of my seat. I pre-ordered from Amazon as soon as I saw these.

Yeah, I'm obviously not a SCEA Dev, but I just think based on how it was mentioned that the cloud patterns are visible as shadows on the field, that they coded the shadows directly into the clouds. This would save on some coding work since they wouldn't have to independantly code for shadow patterns and cloud patterns. E.G. I think they could take the code for the cloud patterns up above, then for the shadows just tell it to use the same code that defines the clouds up above but for graphical patterns use a brightness adjustment on the field below.

When it comes to night time rendering, it would probably take up a lot more processing power since you would now have to code for how the lights from the stadium and the city around it reflect off of the clouds up above, and then include that reflected light in all the calculations that are already being done. The more I think about it, the more respect I give to the coders who are probably trying to tackle this feat right now!

This is a great question and would provide even more strategy for those of us who pitch without the strike zone

I am so anxious to play in these! Although I know it will be quite a while, I can't wait to play a classic season!

A lot(okay...all) of them had digital scoreboards. Some of the signage was also too modern as nem stated....
The good news?....we went through all six, I noted the necessary changes and Kolbe is trying to get them in.

I'll be honest...even with the digitals...they look great and Brent and I played a game in the Polo Grounds...AWESOME.
He kicked my ***....hit a couple of triples....and inside the park homer(LEGIT!) and there were a couple of short porch homers over the 270(!!) mark in RF.

These are going to be a BLAST to play in...especially with historical rosters.

Yep... adding to this, I completely forgot that night games start as "day" games. Which actually begs another question... I believe I read somewhere that day games that go into extra innings will start to go into the dusk/night transition. If true, I wonder how this will work if you play a day game with partly cloudy weather?

My guess is that once it gets to a certain point, the clouds disappear into a dark sky and therefore it all becomes "clear" in between innings.

They all are the same though for each stadium that they do play in.....but really how many different fireworks displays do we need?...so that's a minor gripe. Just having them is great.

If anyone on the boards has a good old radio annoucer voice, and he's willing we could get him to annoue the names and then put his voice in with the rag time songs, and turn off the default annoucers. Here's some rag time music I am gonna use...

Yes...I had something like this in mind....more in line with the Natural music and such. Ragtime wouldn't be bad though!
Man I hope there are some sound guys who come up with a Classic Sound set!

Our strike zone is based on the official mlb rules book definition. Its chest to the bottom of the knee cap. It was tweaked slightly this year.

Day games and Night games probably run off of two different lighting cycles.

For example, there is probably 15 (just for an example) different lighting changes for the day games, and when it reaches the 15th "frame" it will stay there till the game is done.

And for Night games the same thing.

Rather than a true system of 24 hour period, like was in Madden 07 and MLB 2K7.

But if their version (which I am assuming how it is) allows for richer more realistic lighting like we see, then I will take it any day of the week over a blander looking 24 hour cycle like in past games. Which lacked HDR, true lighting of individual pixels and lighting off of everything with real shadows. It was just lighter and darker in those games, without the extra realism.

But this is just a guess by me.

As a White Sox fan, I couldn't be any happier that they are in this year. And you are right... we don't need multiple displays... one will be just fine!

And just to confirm, they shoot off during the day also, correct? What about after wins?

Okay I got that, but I know for instance that Albert Pujols' stance looks to be much higher with respect to his own body than say Jayson Werth when I look at both players. It's probably changed a bit this year like you said, but last year if two players had the same height, they had the same strike zone regardless of their stance (or so it seemed).
