Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!

OK, I just came back from BB, and I have a major gripe! The damn cord on the kiosk is wayyyyy too short! LOL :-D A couch and snacks would been just right too.

As far as the game goes... Wowwwwwww! How does SCEA manage to improve the game year over year? I like everything I saw, from the lighting, to the flow/motion of the game, the controls. The throw meter works lovely. I'm loving the SHOW-motion replay cam :-D I had a play where I beat out a grounder w/ Posednik and the official ruling wasnt made right away, when it was made, the drop down stated "Official ruling: Hit" - very nice.

I took some snapshots with my that I'll post when I get home... is it Tuesday yet?

      - The meter is much harder to perfect it seems.
      - Game was set as the Cards vs. the Yankees. It was a very grey day in NY.
      - Fielding does appear to be a little more responsive.
      - The new broadcast angle looks very realistic, but makes it more difficult to adapt to where the ball is.
      - I saw a fielding error by the second baseman where he kicked it while he was trying to field a grounder up the middle. Don't recall seeing that last year.
      - Yankee Stadium looks meticulous and very life like.
      - The meter throwing in the outfield makes a significant difference as opposed to years past.
      - I love the look of the new overlays. Gives it a fresher look.
      - I saw fans reach over and try and field a foul ball hit down the right side.
      - Crowds looks very nice.

That's all I could get from my little 2 innings of play. It wouldn't allow me to pause and adjust the settings (pitch delay slider, etc.).
      you like the new overlays?
i thought they are wayyyyy more busy [too much of not used space taken up] this year with a worse art design.
take a peek at 09 if you have it then check out 10s again.
      horrid.
theres an old adage.....if it aint' broke,,,improve it@
      not butcher it lol

i'd sure like to know if utley is 0-2, but i sure dont need a screen wide black box to hold that info lolol

      loving the cloudy skies look/
checked out 1-4pm transition and all that seemed to change was the batter shadow.
that was overrated addition, unless of course that stadium doesnt show it off well
      that was in Philly.
      oy.

holding offf on my preorder, but will check out BB again manana to give it another shot. otherwise i might just ride 09.

Could anyone possibly tell me how the hitting (including be able to tell if its a ball or strike) feels this year? Thanks in advance

The pitch speed setting affects the flow of the game for cpu pitching. It only affects the cpu you turn it up the cpu will pitch faster the actual pitches are not effected.

so wait a second, i must have missed this, so this years game is meant to be best used at 1080p? no framerate drops like last year?

if thats the case, ill be very very happy since i have just got a fullhd lcd myself and havent really been able to use it since the 2 games i play(fifa and mlb 09) are 720p games

It is optimized for 720p still, but there is still native 1080p support. And if you have a 120hz tv and above, the frame-rate will have less issues in 1080p.

I just played a full 9 innning game at Best Buy, the full version. While I am not sure if it was on 1080p or not, the title screen clearly said the game was optimized for 720p, the same message as last year So the game is not "best used at 1080p"

The best buy in Thornton Colorado had it and I was able to play 3 innings. I took a quick video and some pics with my phone but it was hard to play and take a video at the same time.

I love the way the game plays. I played the Phil's and I got rocked in the first inning. I gave up a 3 run blast to Werth. I did see fans reaching for foul balls and loved the atmosphere in big situations. I also loved the broadcast camera.

I will post the few pics I took and will try to post the short video. Please forgive the video quality as I was trying to play at the same time.

Someone should change the PS3's resolution to 1080p at a Best Buy to see how it runs. I'm sure the TV it's running on is 1080p.

LMAO, come on now. Is that really necessary? And I am sure Bestbuy will have no problem letting people do that.

What they don't know won't hurt them... until the TV is 720p and it goes all haywire.
