I wish I could have gotten some gameplay for you guys but it was hard for me to play at the same time I take a video..Plus there wasn't too many people there who were interested in playing the game so I can record them playing..go figure
yeah, I thought maybe the PS3 was set to 480p or what ever and the T.V. might have 4-3 video set to "stretch" for wide screen.

I'm sure it is going to look beautiful....heck I'm sure some who got to attend community day would have mention the graphics not looking as nice, if indeed there was a problem...

I had to leave after 3 innings but will try to stop by sometime soon (hopefully the geek squad guys has a day off or something )
I work in Thornton and was wondering if this store had the game. I'm there myself tomorrow on my lunch break. Thanks for the impressions, pics and video.

The geek squad guy told me it was a demo but it was really the full game. I don't think he knew what he was talking about. Im not sure if they have the game in the store yet as i didn't ask. This was at the Best Buy off of Sheridan and 96th. Im not too sure about the Best Buy off of 104th.

Maybe ill see you there tomorrow..LOL

i played a few hours so i was able to make a decision based on my personal playing prefs.
          i am a HUGE stat/presentation freak.
i noticed the lineup card pops up and 2 seconds later its gone.
they dont even focus on a player anymore
          i mean come on.
          why?

to be honest i saw ONE, count it ONE stat drop down
          the announcers names
dont be like Ea and madden where u start taking things OUT of a game.
I might be going on a limb in saying, SCEA being at the top for so long now might be hurting them unless they start reinventing themselves, a bit anyways.

i was STOKEd for this game but got worried when with a week to go we had one pure gameplay video, not counting the trailers or highlight package type ones.
I dont want to discuss anything non BB Kiosk related in here after this, so we can PM if you want.
That's like looking at a Ferrari and complaining about the design of the air vents...I don't know man, to each their own, but you're missing out.

nothing like a 52" screen to make u see it clear as HD lol

            the black/silver thing is outdated.
            wheres the color?

i had to go back earlier to try again and play to get a bit more enthused but take away the RTP and at the core theres nothing new to be excited bout [my opinion].

they REALLY need to revamp the look of this thing.
i am also wondering how many MLB THE SHOW10 graphics they can put across the top of the batter walk up! lol
also why does the batter walk up overlay span the entire screen but the ENTIRE right half, is EMPTY!?!?!?!

            oy vey.
            who designed this?
not for nothing, but i feel po'd bout the horrible design choices they made.
I wanted to give it a chance thru pics but seeing it in person...yuck

            things i liked:
the sound-seems crowd got jacked up at the right times.
            the graphics
            oh those stadium graphics
            glory glory halladaylujah!
i love the animations, what i have seen seems new
I think CC's delivery has been tweaked
            not fully sure.

can we get a new opening please?
            zzzzzzzzz

commentary is getting putrid, but MATT is well above decent, he just needs better lines to deliver. the ones he has are stale and non baseball like
listen to a broadcast in real life, then the show10

again, whos doing the scripts there?

all in all i played/seen enough to make my decision, i will be sticking to 09 and snagging 2k....but SCEA, to get me to upgrade from 09 REALLY, seriously IMO needs to revamp the art team in charge of overlays & coloring.

            and a new writer.

i actually got angry playing that at times.
            hence my edgy posts.
in any event for those that DONT mind my qualms will love it, cause the game is unreal in some aspects
I'm a huge fan of this game and will not argue it's the best baseball game available. But what was pointed out above is spot on. There needs to be a shake up in a few things to prevent this game from getting stale...honestly, the stale feeling is the biggest thing The Show has going against it.

This goes for commentary, front-end design, and the in-game presentation. Obviously this year there is RTP which so far is getting positive feedback, and that's a step in the right direction. But I agree that presentation elements such as the layovers, pregame intros, etc need some updating just to keep things fresh.

they arent full games, well not the finished product because i popped it out the ps3 and it was a blank disc with not for resale on it, so if 1 store has it then it should be all stores

Played for about an hour at Best Buy in Westbury, NY..

Started with Yanks vs Phils in Yankee Stadium which looked great.. the clock on the scoreboard was in time with the game.. First pitch I threw bounced up and hit the umpire who keeled over in pain.. nice..

Ball seems much more "alive" and unpredictable which is a welcome change.. Ball from Polanco to Howard bounced in dirt off his glove and rolled towards the pitcher..

Halladay tried a pick off and threw it in the stands..

Ticker at the top updates with scoring (i.e. Scoring ruled error E6)

Hit a HR with Granderson.. They played the highlight at the end of the inning..
He also got congrats from players in dugout.. I think there were about 8 - 10 teammates in there..

I then shoved my key to get back to the main menu..

HR derby in Citi Field which is much improved.. Pujols vs. Tex.. You cannot get swing analysis in the derby but it was great fun especially with the broadcast cam.. Once you hit it fair or foul you get a running ft. tally.. The cut scenes of the other teammates will get a bit stale, but was a blast..

A note on the camera.. I loved having it on when I was batting but have a real hard time judging where fly balls will land based on the camera's relation to the field.. really nice having it when batting..

The fans reaching for foul balls is very subtle..

Catcher mask animation is awesome.. Saw some really high choppers and bloopers that would not have ever happened with 09..

I did notice the bit of a glow on players running around the bases but the TV they use may be the culprit..

I think I sold 3 PS3's to customers who were watching me play.. (I offered to let them try btw "

I then played a few inning at my team (LAD vs SF)..

Bullpen view of the opposing teams is really nice to have finally.. As are seeing your bullpen players in the actual bullpen..

All in all, much improved over 09 and as Knight had said, I can't even play 09 anymore.. retired..

                      peaces..chris
Very nice impressions. Thanks for the post.

Guys, I thank you all for your early impressions. I recently saw a 2K video and really enjoyed the commentary. Did anyone notice any new commentary from the crew?

I did notice the first video being posted where Teixeira fields the ball a bit funky with a somewhat ornate pause and makes a good throw to Jeter only to have him taken out.

I am sure that the game isnt perfect, but last year was great and I am still playing it so this seasons changes have got to be better.

Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!

Played it today at Best Buy today, and had the same issue with the start button. I guess it wasn't the retail version.

The new cam is awesome when batting, and IN-fielding. I wasn't too impressed with how the cam looks when the balls make their way to the outfield. It is just a little too low and zoomed in. Hopefully we can somehow change this.

The night time lighting looked much improved, and I was really happy to see each player with customized cleats and gloves...really adds more personality to each player (A-Rods hamburger helper gloves and Jeters all black cleats looked great.

Some issues I had with the game. The logo on the batting gloves looked extremely pixelated to the point were it was kinda an eyesore. Some of the multicolored cleats looked really funky as well. Also, I noticed when playing against the braves, the first batter I faced had a red bill on his helmet, while the next 3 batters all had solid navy helmets. I'm really big on jerseys and accessories so I was a little annoyed by these things.

Apart from those issues, the game played really nice and looked really nice. A lot of people walking behind me were in awe from how real the game looked from the outfield pitcher cam. If it weren't for the body types being just barely disproportional and maybe the wall behind the plate and the fans not looking as sharp as the players, the game really looks like and actual live MLB game. THe lighting, textures, and body movement looks so real.
