Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!

I played it today. 3 innings.

It was Cards (ME) vs. Rangers.
First inning I had a base-hit only to end the inning with a double play from Albert. Pitching side of it, I sucked. I think there was some lag issues with the TV so I was always low and ended up throwing two wild pitches with Waino. I ended up giving up a run in the 1st.

Then the top of the 2nd rolls around. On the second pitch, Scott Feldman throws one up and in to Holliday but misses him. Turns out he should have hit him because the next pitch was scorched into left-center for a home-run. After I hit the home-run I realized that I didn't have Real-Time on so I didn't get to see him run around the bases.

It stayed 1-1 till the top of the third when Brenden Ryan hit one up the middle after Lugo got out. With a man on first, I got to see something new. Schumaker was hit on THE FOOT. He tried to get out of the way but it nipped his back foot. I thought this was pretty awesome. Next batter, Colby Rasmus, who has his own stance that I think is pretty good. On the second pitch of the at-bat, Colby ripped one in the right center gap for a 2-RBI double. Pujols grounded out. Then Holliday struck out looking on a looping curve on the inside part of the plate.

That was all that I played and I loved every minute of it. One guy came up to me and was like "Woah, this looks like a real ****ing game!" He stayed there watching me play for a minute or two after I offered him the controler but he denied. Then one of the Best Buy emploees came up while Brenden Ryan was up and said, "Now that just LOOKS like Brenden Ryan right there."

So glad that I went and played it, but I also regret it as it made the wait for Tuesday that much longer.

The only complaint I have is the Green Monster scoreboard...which is bad in some ways because it is an important feature of Fenway but everything else far outweighs it. I was looking forward to Tuesday before I went to Best Buy and now I really am. I can't wait to use Knight's rosters...especially the historic ones with this game..a lot of options!

did he have his WS ring on, or was his finger too fat?

yes lot of options the show has, dont forget sounds of the show.

good writeup, but could do without the insults peppered in.

yes the fenway scoreboard i think has been asked about for a few years now, i guess they r baby steppin on that one.
lot added tho in its stead.

Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!

One thing I noticed, and I hope it's just a fluke.

I continued a game that was already in progress in the bottom of the third. I was the Phillies (pitching), playing the Yankees(batting). Bottom of the third, man on first. They hit a line drive down the right field line that rolled to the wall. Werth picked it up and threw it to the cutoff, but instead it was more like a punt that landed in the infield. The ball seemed to go straight up in the air and landed about 15 feet short of the catcher. Instead of the catcher trying to pick it up and scramble back to home to try to tag the runner coming from first, he just stood there trying to block the plate. By the time the ball had stopped rolling, and the first baseman ran over to it, it was too late to get the runner scoring from first. Had the catcher make an attempt for the ball, the runner would of been out. It might be hard trying to visualize from my story, but the whole sequence was odd, and hopefully, definitely some kind of fluke.

Outside of that play, the game was great. Gameplay was tight and responsive, and the improvements to Yankee Stadium really stood out from the start. I started a new game in Pittsburgh and the stadium looks great. Not happy I can't play with the black jersey at home, but there are worse things in life. I felt a little funny playing for as long as I did, so as hard as it was to put it down, I had to. Can't wait for Tuesday!!

            Also, something that I forgot.

When Brenden Ryan was up there was a man on first. Lugo got a base-hit then Ryan grounded to short for the double play but he beat it out so I lied in my earlier post.

But anyways something that I thought was weird was when Ryan was batting, with the guy on first, Dave Campbell or Rex Hudler, forgot which one, said "With Wainwright on deck, I think they play it safe here." That would be fine if it wasn't at the Rangers. Just a little very minor gripe.

I believe Bard has a Generic 1 delivery. When no one was on base he threw out of the windup, and then out of the stretch with runners on. So it sorta hard to tell whether it was a signature delivery or just a generic one. I guess when we have more time we can check on it more intensely. Later

Def. not signature then.....he never uses the windup

and he does this before the pitch....kind of leans in and lets his throwing arm hang

Re: Play it at a kiosk? Post impressions here!!

Although I played for a solid 35 minutes today, I didn't get to see much because there was a little 1st grade girl who wanted to play against me. This resulted in my striking her out every time (with all fastballs down the middle), and her striking me out every time (threw ALL balls, and I didn't have the heart to sit there and take walks). However, it got a point where she was trying to hit my player every time, and I noticed a somewhat annoying animation.

While it was a 0-2 count, the next 3 balls she threw were all low pitches on the inner half of the plate. Every single time, Pierzynski did not swing and then a little backwards jog on his toes out of view on the screen. He did this 3 times in a row on balls that were low. Then the next batter came up, and the same thing happened. I hope this was fixed so we don't see that same animation 15 times a game.

I just played for a few mins....I've never bought the game but I plan to this time.

I walked up, selected two teams, and before I could start the game, some little kid comes up asking if he could play. Being the nice guy that I am....I said "Nah. Give me a few mins I just started" Little crumbsnatcher made me miss the opening presentation of the game. smh

Anywho, lol, I only played for about half an inning. I suck at this game and plan to until I get the hang of it. But it looked AWESOME.
