    Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

Thanks for the help, I offered the second deal and the Yankees accepted. Avila was my starting catcher but he was only hitting about .260 so I won't be losing a whole lot by starting Gerald Laird. Alfredo Figaro will take Szcherzer's spot now that Bonderman is healthy again. If Montero doesn't pan out as a catcher, I can move him to 1st since Cabrera is my DH right now anyway.

He has moderate power against righties but otherwise is pretty useless. I sent him down to triple A where is tearing it up, but he only batted .105 for me in the first month.
Sorry, I must've been thinking of when he was with the Cubs or something. I could've sworn I'd heard about him playing nothing but first. Oh well, my bad.

You're probably right about the Cubs. The A's have an overflow at first. He played a little catcher this season, but it became obvious that we needed to bring up a real backup catcher. On the game though he should be fine. Fielding abilities don't exactly translate well, especially at the catcher position. I plan on moving him in the off season or early next season since his value is high but I don't need any more catchers.

I just played a game against the Rays with Sheets pitching. He pitched 7 innings of 5 run work and 10 strike outs against us. The CPU left him in in the 8th, despite having a pitch count above 110. We managed to string together 3 runs on him in the 8th before they yanked him. It didn't matter though since the Rays were up by over 10 runs at that point. Sheets versus Pena: strike out, strike out, ground out, double. I would say Sheets won that matchup, but Pena did manage to strike for a three run home run against his former team the next game.

Yes pretty much anyone with high dollar value will be on that waiver list. It doesn't mean they are being waived. Try to claim someone and they will get pulled back. I tried to claim Pujols and he was immediately pulled back. I also tried to claim a few B potential scrubs that were also pulled back. None of the star players that passed through waivers on my franchise ended up getting traded though, unless you consider Ryan Church a star.

                Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

                Ok here is my situation.

Kenshin Kawakami has a 6.67 ERA through 2 months of the season, I've decided to Designate him for assignment, put Medlen in the rotation and call up James Parr to be my long man. KK is only making 400 K and has 2 years left including this one so it's not like it's costing me a lot to make this move.

It says I have 10 days to trade him, place him on waivers, or outright release him. I've lost Chipper for the year and I just went through the teams and looked at their needs. Baltimore looks like they may be a trading partner. Everyone in their rotation is struggling and even though KK is as well, he was solid last year so maybe he could help them. Ty Wigginton is who I'm targeting. He's hitting .357 but only has 28 AB's and isn't getting hardly any playing time. He also is in the last year of his deal at $3.3 million.

When I make the offer the blue bar fills up a little more than halfway. So the game is suggesting it's a fairly even trade. Should I offer them more and if so what type of players should I put in the deal? I was thinking of including a guy like Conrad and maybe a reliever. Conrad could take Wigginton's spot as their utility guy and we all know Baltimore can use some relief help.

                What do you think?

I can only answer this for the A's system. They have more pitching than they know what to do with. I pitch really well with Outman and Mazzaro. They are B and A potential respectfully and should be able to be picked fairly easily. If you are using the OS Rosters, then I would say go after one or two of them, or else Cahill and/or Gio Gonzalez, and then take your pick of one of the following position prospects: 1B Chris Carter, SS Grant Green, or RF Michael Taylor. Carter would be my first choice as he is a first baseman with power so he could take the place of Adrian as well as play some left field. Taylor is one of my favorites in real life, but in the rosters he is rated a little on the low side and might take a year or two to get up to the bigs.

I haven't posted on here in awhile about trades made in my franchise simply because there haven't been any. After the first week of August, in which I saw what I believed were way too many trades, I didn't see any. One thing I have noticed though is that now in September I am getting a terrible trade off from Detroit. I didn't think trades were even possible in September. Maybe I am missing something. Another thing I have noticed for awhile but keep forgetting to mention is that for some strange reason the CPU will pick up scrub players from FA (Usually dumped a day or two ago from a different team), and then send them down to AA, the A and then release them. This all happens on the same day. Anyone else seeing this?

Trades are possible in September, but in real life any players involved in the trade would not be eligible to play in the playoffs that year. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Brian Giles/Jason Bay trade from a few years back was in September. Neither team was in the hunt for the playoffs, so there were no issues with the trade.

you only get them when its considered a big time trade. Average trades go "unannounced" by the email system.

                              Red Sox traded: Jon Lester

to the Nationals for: Adam Dunn and Ian Desmond

I thought this was pretty fair since the Nats aren't doing anything at all.

The Rays also signed Jermaine Dye and their amazing!! Best record in MLB

                                Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

I just got to June 3 in my franchise and have my first trade offer (using 30 team control).

The Padres are offering Rf Will Venable (A potential) hitting .250 5 HR and 20 RBI to the Phillies for SP Joe Blanton (B potential) 5-3 4.72 ERA.

Blanton is in yr 1/3 on his contract ($12.5m), Venable 1/1 (400K). Venable is currently in on the Padres AAA affiliate (got sent down for an injury replacement).

At face value it seems like a fairly reasonable trade. An A prospect for an established Major League pitcher, albeit one that isn't pitching all that well. Both teams are in the pennant race (Phils leading the NL East, Padres at .500 and about 6 games out in the West.) I could see Venable being the 4th outfielder for the Phils immediately, and perhaps blossoming into a star.

What do you guys think? (I'm playing overlord so I can accept or reject it)
