    Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

I remember facing the Cards earlier in the season and cracking up the first time I saw Ryan playing SS. Even though his two year old picture doesn't shoe the mustache, the player model had it in all its glory. I thought of you when I saw it and just laughed. I also reminded myself not to trade for that guy.

The Yankees put Thames on waivers. I figured he might be a good pickup to have with his power and he doesn't cost that much ($1.3 mil I think). Plus I love stealing players from the Yankees. So I put in a claim and waited around for a couple of days. It turns out that the Mets had the same idea and ended up getting him instead. I would have liked to have that extra power, but I also like that the CPU is grabbing up players off waivers. I didn't see this at all the first season. The Mets claiming of Thames made them put Mike Jacobs on waivers, who was then claimed by the Rays. I had hoped earlier to make a trade with the Rays using Barton since they didn't have anyone good at 1st. So this looks like a smart pickup by them rather than just teams grabbing players to grab them. The Indians also claimed SS Jeff Keppinger from the Astros.

The Yanks put Thames on waivers in my franchise as well, but I decided not to claim him. I don't have enough playing time for another OF. I haven't seen the CPU pick players off waivers, so I'll have to check and see if anyone picked him up this time.

That makes sense; you have a lot of power in your outfield. I have Quentin. I was hoping Swisher would add some power, but he has only hit 4 home runs since I picked him up in May. He has been very clutch lately though, so that is a plus. I am anticipating bringing him back for another year if he keeps performing like this. Plus I am planning on having a rookie in center with some power, but you never know if it turns out that he isn't ready yet and I end up needing both Swisher and Sweeney after all. Still, it would have been nice to have Thames power down the stretch.

Edit: I also forgot to mention that there had been no trades from July 5th until July 22nd. Since then, there have been over a dozen moves. I like this a lot. It looks like teams were really feeling out what they needed and then are going after what they can as the deadline nears.

Do you guys think the trade of Michael Cuddyer for Jack Cust (both right fielders) is fair? I offered it and the A's had 100% interest in it.

Of course they did. Cuddyer is a way better player than Cust. Cust is listed as RF but really is a DH only. He is by far the worst professional outfielder I have ever seen in my life. He doesn't deserve to ever have a glove at any time. In the game though, he can be a near .300 hitter with 40+ bombs a year rather than a .220 hitter with 25 homers, since the power rating is far too important. He could probably also win a gold glove seeing how outfielders rarely drop a ball in this game. I have personally seen at least 6 easy fly balls pop out of his glove in real life.

Lol. Here's how I see it comparing Cuddy and Cust

                Power: Cust
                Speed: Cuddy
                Arm: Cuddy
                Better hitter: Cuddy

I just love hitting with left handed batters in this game, so I am tempted to do it. Cust has terrible speed and an average arm. Cuddyer is a guy that most people have never heard of, but he's a good player. If only he was left handed I'd be pleased because he has a top 5 arm in all of baseball and decent power to go with it.

                  Re: **All Trades Discussion Thread**

Be careful what you wish for. Left handed power hitters are easier to come by these days than right handers. I am assuming you play as the Twins? If so, you already have Mauer, Morneau, and perhaps even Thome as left handed threats. I have a left handed heavy lineup and rotation. I love facing the twins with my southpaws, except Cuddyer. with my lineup, I really get destroyed by mediocre left handed pitchers like Rowland-Smith, let alone studs like CC or Cliff Lee.

If you do get Cust, you should go in and edit his fielding and range to zero. It won't kill his defense by any means on the game, just take it down a little. I also dropped his contact rating down a lot and he still batted near 300.

In my White Sox franchise I'm in need of a 3B and was wondering if I should do this trade with the Diamondbacks:

                    White Sox Get:
                    3B Mark Reynolds
                    SP Edwin Jackson
                    SP Dontrelle Willis

                    Diamondbacks Get:
                    RP Sergio Santos
                    C Tyler Flowers
                    SP Gavin Floyd

My reason for the trade is I need some power in my lineup and Santos is horrible for me as he has given up home runs in two games in a row which have resulted in loses. Does it make since to do this trade and is it a rip off for the Diamondbacks?

I don't know the White Sox prospects very well, just who they are, but I think the most realistic and fair trade would be:

                      Reynolds, Jackson, Willis
                      for
Santos, Dayan Viciedo(to give them a 3B replacement, they already have Snyder and Montero at catcher), and Daniel Hudson(assuming he's an A pot, and assuming he's the top CWS pitching prospect, which I think he is)

middle of the lineup hitter + top 3 starter + taking on a bad contract
                      in exchange for
hard throwing young reliever(the D'Backs could use), 3B replacement for Reynolds(Reynolds is young in his own right, Dayan wouldn't be such a loss for you), and top pitching prospect.
I think that's fair, but that's just my opinion.

That's a good idea cause that way I don't have to give up Floyd and Flowers which I didn't want to do. I'll try that one and if they don't accept then I'll just throw in Floyd. Thanks for the advice.

I figured that I needed to give up something good to get something good back so that I didn't totally rip off the Diamondbacks. Besides, Peavy, Danks and Buerle has been good for me so Edwin Jackson should be able to replace whatever Floyd does. Teahen can't hit anything for me and has actually become an easy out for opposing teams.

I didn't think of that and thats a good idea but the Diamondbacks 3B is a pretty powerful hitter, something that the White Sox is lacking other than Dye (I re-signed him) and Konerko. I haven't made the trade yet though so this might be something I keep in mind.

                              Thanks for the advice guys.

Any left handed hitter I could get my hands on is great for me. I love playing with Teahen I remember when I picked him up he had a 2 homer debut and it was amazing. It looks like a fair trade on paper, no one really got ripped off because they gave up to SP but I don't think Dontrelle's rating is awesome. That is an awesome line up except Buerhle (for me), I have a tough time pitching with him.
