Escobar will be an upgrade on the game. Have fun with him in real life, though. This is just like the Failcouer for Church trade. Veteran minimal ceiling player for a great defensive player who had become worthless at the plate. Only difference is, Faily was a good clubhouse guy, while Escobar was a cancer who everyone hated.

I am 8-7 in my franchise with the Mariners and I can deal for Strasburg. I would have to include Mike Stanton who I traded for at the beginning of the year. I don't want to trade Stanton because I would have a nice outfield with him in LF, Heyward in RF, and Gutiarezz in CF. However having Strasburg and Felix back to back is nice. The trade goes:

          Mariners get: Strasburg and Storen

Nationals get: Carlos Carrasco and Mike Stanton.

What do you guys think about that?

Yea. I traded ichiro and Milton Bradley for Heyward and the Stanton trade was hagadone feierbend and k. Texeria.

I want to unload Jorge de la Rosa. After an 11-12, 3.71 ERA 2010, he has started off April 0-4, 6.20 and just looked plain terrible. He got sent down to AAA to work on his control and I'm just curious as to how many starts I should give him to "prove" his trade value. He's making 7.15 million thanks to him winning his arbitration case, and I feel that he is not worth it at all.

Some teams who could use SP that I've noticed by browsing around: Red Sox(12-10, Boof Bonser is there #5 guy), Tigers(9-14, 3 guys in there roto have ERA's over 6), Braves(14-9, for whatever reason only have 4 starters in the MLB -_-), and possibly the Astros(6-17 but then again I already took Oswalt from them last year, so most likely not)

Any ideas to anything I posted?

Got another interesting offer a day before the all-star break. Ray's offered me Desmond Jennings (their #1 prospect, widely considered a top 20 prospect) and their #4 prospect LHP Matt Moore for Ryan Theriot.

The Rays are leading their division by 3 games over the Yankees, and their tea stratedgy is playoff push. Quite confusing why they would go for Theriot. Barlett is hitting .318 at SS and Zobrist is hitting .283. No injuries to the infield either. I would accept this, and I prefer to take offers the CPU gives, but that would be just ripping them off. I can't see myself accepting unless I gave up more.

Yeah you'd definitely be getting the better end of that deal.

Playing a Brewers franchise here. Deciding whether to deal Prince or not, just like in real life. His contract is over after this year in this roster that I'm using, so it should be an easy decision. That is, if he weren't 3rd in MVP voting and hitting .350 at the end of June!

I already drafted his replacement, or at least that is my thought at the moment(Gamel might get moved to 1B). The draftee is far away from the bigs, so if I can find a trade partner for Prince, I'll pick up a cheap 1B filler in the offseason.

Here's what I'm looking for at least: either a top "closer in the future" reliever and a decent CF or vice versa; a fine CF with decent skills in all five tools and a decent middle/set up reliever. I'll want an A and B prospects in either case.

I hope that's not asking for much but in real life, this guy could get a ransom. Please share any thoughts and ideas on which team to go with.

I went ahead and declined it. I just couldn't rip them off like that. I don't mind for players who wouldn't ever get traded/young prospects being traded, aslong as both sides give up reasonable amount that would be worthy of the trade.

I thought about adding one of the MLB pitchers I had with either Silva (3.58 ERA on the year) or Dempster (3.22 ERA on the year), and then one of the A potential pitchers I had in the minors; but I still felt they'd accept it no matter what because they came at me with their offer for just Ryan Theriot so I didn't go through with it.

well...i would think about dealing to the Red Sox. In real life things with Ellsbury have gotten a little edgy with management and they might look to move him at years end. They've been trying to get a stud 1B for a while....i'm guessing the thought is moving Youk to 3B.

Anyway...Fielder for Ellsbury and a prospect could work or if you want a RP someone like Bard or Delcarman

I'd probably wait to June to make any moves. Jaime Garcia started 0-4 with a 9.92 ERA for me, and after 4 or 5 starts in the minors I called him back up. Since then he is 10-2 with an ERA around 4, so it may be a bit too early to give up on De La Rosa

Good idea. I'll probably need him again soon anyway, as Chacin will not be a passable number 5 starter.

After last season's plummet and this year's stint on the DL, I'd say the Indians would be more likely to pass him off than hold on to him to try and build the team around him - again.

He's really got to be a piece they move out as the team gets younger around him. He's also a piece that can help land them the kind of pitching help they're going to be in desperate need for the next 5 years.

If Sizemore gets moved, it's for prospects.

I wouldn't exactly count Bard in as he seems to be one of those rare untouchables at his age and lack of experience. From what I recall hearing and reading about they'd be more willing to move off Papelbon and keep Bard as his replacement, so that would be a big reason I wouldn't talk about Bard in a trade deal of any capacity.

Instead I'd say you could spin off Prince for a package of Ellsbury (for the reasons stated above) and Casey Kelly with maybe another prospect (still looking to see what other prospects could be added without it seeming like you're taking back more than what the Sox would be willing to pay for a guy they could easily just wait to shark at FA).

Kelly's younger than Bard, is the second best prospect out of the organization (Baseball America; right behind Ryan Westmoreland) and is already noted as having the best Fastball, Curveball, Changeup and control of any prospect this year. So he's definitely on his way to being MLB ready by as soon as next year. If you look up his stats for this season you can see he's having a bit of a set-back but he's still only 20 years old so it's not like it would break you to invest in him.
