Kuroda from the Dodgers just struck me out for the 10th time in this game and they go to a montage highlight of his strike outs from the camera angle behind the pitcher which looks like the Twins cam of all the strike outs. Nice touch

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Not that this will do anything for anyone looking for impressions but I FINALLY hit my 1st HR using the Analog sticksTook my Dodgers into Washington and Kemp hit a 414 ft blast to right-center.
I am finally getting the Analog stick control down. It has been a helluva learning curve but I can't go back to the old way for some reason. I just feel more realism using the analog.
Now as far as fielding I avg around 3-4 errors a game. Gotta figure that out.
Loving this damn game right now!!!The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

But as far as analog throwing, I do not commit errors as much now since I put throw meter off. It takes the speed of the throw based on players rating
Now I just flick the stick and is on pointComment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Just had a breakout game using the analog controls and won my for the 1st time using MLB 11Hit 4hrs, 17 hits and beat the Nats 10-4. What a feelin!!!!
In all my playing video games and after playing The Show for 4 years now. If ever there was a time that someone was debating on getting a PS3 for a game this would be it!!! Basketball has always been my game followed by football and lastly Baseball in video and real-life gaming but DAMN!!! this game is a system seller if there ever was one.
This is not MLB The Show 10.5, this is without a doubt MLB The Show 11. Peace!!! and Go Dodgers!!!The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
The knuckleball is completely different this year. I hesitate to use the word broken but to me it is completely useless right now. Based on using Wake and then Dickey (analog and meter) the breaking on the pitch is virtually non existent. The computer doesn't seem to be any better at hitting it so I don't know what is going on.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
the question has been brought up a few times about the cpu using the same relievers over and over and the only light I can shed on that subject is that I've played a few games back to back in spring training and the cpu isn't using the same relievers day after day and/or following the same rotation of relievers.
Seems this area of the game has been cleaned up.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Lisa and econ were asking about stats.
I really do not see much different than last year. You can see split stats and a few new overlays, but this is very weak area of The Show.
The boxscore is once again very vanilla. I PM'd ( I think it was Brian, not sure) a couple of years ago about the lack of stats, and the reply was the gamelog would have additional game info. Well you cannot access the gamelog once the game is over. If you want to go back to a previous game for instance, and check the pitchcount of the pitchers, you are out of luck.
As a disclaimer, I would classify myself as a stat heavy guy.
Now the postitive this year is the ESPN style ticker which displays stats along with scores on games being played in your league.Comment

The knuckleball isn't supposed to "break", its supposed to just kinda dance. I don't know if that helps any as I don't think I've ever tried using the knuckleball in the show but if its dancing properly it'll be hittable but the idea is that u can't make solid contact.
Thanks for assuming I don't know anything about baseball. This year (as I already said) the knuckleball is different from last year. Wherever the pitch is going when it leaves your hand is basically exactly where the pitch ends up now. Last year the ball would knuckle or break all over the place and this year in limited testing this is not happening. If anybody who has the game is seeing the same type of movement as last year, please tell me your settings so I can see whether I can reproduce it.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Ill tell you one thing Strasburg is a beast!...I played Wash at NYY...Sabathia vs. Strasburg, both had shutouts into on 7th on All star difficulty with analog.....Strasburg's stuff is very nasty...I had a no-hitter with him into th 6th.
Thats the thing I love about analog is it sseems more "sim" to me...the better pitchers can really be well "better".
Fielding is def a challenge..I have had errors in all my games so far you must really "field" now which is fantastic.Follow me on Twitter: twitter.com / @RidinRostersComment

I got thefrom 42.
Analog for me is crazy and it's going to be a learning curve. I really enjoyed the game using buttons and zone hitting last night. Fielding is soooo smooth.
Importing and Exporting players to and from the hard drive is easy and when replacing a player on a roster with the import feature, the lineups/rotations stick. You won't have to go into manage roster and fix the 40 man or fix lineups etc.
It looks like none of the new managers or new base coaches made the game. Clint Hurdle is another manager not available yet.
Player faces look really solid this year at least in regards to looking at stars and the Pirates. Andrew McCutchen looks fantastic.Comment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
To be honest, i'm LOVING the fact we can change the different difficulty for different areas. Right now, i'm loving the LEGEND difficulty for fielding, all star for pitching, and veteran for hitting (zone).... the fielding feels amazing and when i happen to make a diving play, i'm stoked! The legend fielding feels perfect because i honestly HAVE to think about my throw before i make the play... so it's not just on autopilot like it's been the previous years.Comment

You gotta change the slider to the right for cpu pitcher consistency to stop them from throwing many wild pitchesComment

Re: Official MLB 11 The Show - Impressions Thread
Still getting used to the new fielding. I had four errors in one game.
One outfield throw error, two overthrows to 1B, one error where the 1b got pulled off the base. Three on infielders, one on an outfielder.Comment
