Will this backfire on me?

I'm in my fourth year (second year in MLB). I don't want to keep playing for the Padres. I want to play for the Astros. I'm strongly considering simming two years, until I reach free agency, declining all contract offers (unless I receive one from the Astros), and then trying out for the Astros.

Does that sound right? (Please keep your comments about the Astros to yourself, unless you just can't help it.)

Why don't you create duplicate save files, and use one of them to see what happens? If you don't like the results, you can restart from the last branch point.

Now I wish I could do that with my life!

Mostly because I don't really know how to do that. But, I'll probably be able to figure it out. Thank you for the suggestion.

Just about half-way through my second year in the Tigers farm system (Mud Hens). In terms of ratings, I am the seventh best player on the Tigers entire roster now, but they still won't call me up to the Majors because the 40-man roster is full.

I'm not really complaining about not being called up, but I wish they could give a better reason that this. There are three 2Bs on the 40-man, only one 3B (my position), and a 37-year-old relief pitcher who is currently in Single A on the 40-man roster, and he freaking stinks! He is not an injured player making a rehab tour, if that's what you may think.

I agree it is still probably too early to call my guy up, but I've been hitting all my goals and that is the 4th or 5th time the franchise has given me this same reason. I just wish there was something more to it than that--it doesn't seem realistic given all the circumstances.

Thats odd, to be fair though Ive only played with two position players, but usually at LEAST by the 3rd year im in the Majors. I can bet that because you simmed youre still in the minors. It requires time and patience but the more you play the better you will do, if you sim the game doesnt reward you nearly as much there for you dont boost your ratings up enough... but again this is from a position players point of view

I'm not a pitcher, but my CF got called up at the end of the 1st year to the MLB and I haven't been sent back down (starting my 4th year). I haven't simmed any and my ratings are pretty high now. I'm on the Orioles and they were pretty thin at CF which is why I was called up. They traded two of their outfielders away then had injuries, so I ended up getting the call and stayed around. It all depends on the situation.

I started my simming halfway through year 3 out of pure frustration to see what would happen. I might start all over again with a fresh slate to see what happens.

So I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but theres a little detail in RTTS that I wish they'd change. When I go to my player card I wish they would use in game shots of your actual player for the photo and it would be even cooler if it updated after big plays, but that's secondary. I just think it's kind of lame that my created player bats left handed, wears high socks and no shin guards, yet the player card photo is of a right handed batter with baggy pants and a shin guard.

Heres a bummer you would have to sim 4 years not 2. Reason being you have to serve 6 years of MLB service time, in the minors doesnt count. If you want to get traded what worked for me was not getting goals done and just free lancing my points to where I wanted them to be and asking to be traded, but that doesnt mean you'll goto the astros... youll be traded to a random team so u have 1 in 30 chance lol. PS to check your service time check your player card its on the first side when you flip it over. itll say MLB serv.

Congrats! I drew one walk in 606 at-bats in my rookie season with the braves. Much respect for anyone with the patience and discipline to walk consistently.

Im shocked I got all the way to the bigs in my first year re creating Bo Jackson. Never could I do that in other versions... Im liking that! even If my Bo is only 18 lol
I really want the PSN store to hurry up so I can boost speed and power though...

Is there an option for him to play football as well? I don't think it's possible in this year's game...

That reminds me, I might need to do that with BR aggressiveness for my super speedy centerfielder. Does anyone know how fast BR aggressiveness goes up with training? Is it the same slow, monotonous progression or does it go up faster than others? I seriously hope I don't have to waste hundreds of points on this insane "attribute" to get my guy to actually steal bases (I don't do base running because of the hit-and-run glitch). This, along with "clutch" were two absolutely horrible mistakes by the developers. Just beyond dumb.

2 1/2 season in the OF, I have been traded 3 times. AA ball. Surprisingly as well haven't had to change my number either. Go Aeros! Perhaps cause I am a decent lefty batter. And looks like Girardi is my mgr..lol

Is the pt systems straight across the board? Except for different scenarios otherwise the same, per team, mgr. etc?
