Re: MLB 11 "Road To The Show" thread

I'm half way through 2012 and I'm starting for the Los Angeles Angels. I'm 12-3 right now and leading in the Cy Young voting. But I doubt I'll be able to keep this pace after we get rid of everyone by the trade deadline.

Is the Cy Young decided simply by the pitcher with the most wins? If so, that's a little frustrating. It should be a combination of the statistical categories. SCEA could implement a simple mathematical formula for it. Leading in wins=10 points, Second=9, etc. Leading in strikeouts=10th. Where your team finishes, etc.

My players hitting ratings are solid across the board with a B in contact and C in power.

I've resorted to dropping the difficulty level to Rookie and I'm using Timing hitting and still struggling. What is fusturating is i'm hitting the ball well and most of my outs are deep flyballs.

I may switch things up and go to zone hitting. I've never stuggled this bad with hitting in any baseball game.
That's been my Problem. In AA I hit alright but when I go to AAA, I always hit around .240-.250

Haven't tried it on Rookie, but maybe I should consider that.

I still can't believe so people are doing this as a closer as they are alot of advtangtes to it that make it unique.

        1. You don't have to play 162 games.

        2. Most of the time when you pitch its just for 1 inn. so it doesnt take long at all to play a game. Meaning you can get through season/career and still have time to do something else or play another game.

        3. The rush and pressure of entering the game in the 9th with a one run game.

Heh, I had a 38-pt "great" at-bat last night that was just a simple single. Why was it great? I started the AB by taking two strikes, and then fouled off several pitches (taking two balls in there somewhere). Ended up being a FOURTEEN pitch AB, mostly at a 2-2 count, and I finally lined a single to right on the 14th pitch.

Might have earned bonus points for being 2 outs with having a runner on first (who went to third) and the score being down a run in the 8th inning, but I'm not sure. Definitely was not pulsing the controller, so it wasn't a clutch situation.

In my CF RttS, Andy Sonnanstine won the Cy Young in 2013 going 15-3 with a 4.77 ERA. The guys in 2nd and 2rd had ERA's below 3.00 and slightly worse W-L records.

I'm pretty sure it is simply based on wins. Or perhaps winning percentage.

Just broke up a no-no by this guy

                http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/m...pbp&pid=543935

From what I can tell he is currently in Double-A for the Red Sox but he must have got a promotion to Triple-A in my RTTS with my Slugging First Baseman...

There was 1 out in the 9th when I got a single off him. He was perfect through 3 innings but hit a batter and walked a batter in the 4th. He continued the no-no getting 1-2-3 innings from the 5th-8th before the batter in front of me reached on an error by the right fielder... he has a 6-0 lead so the announcement of me breaking up the no-no brought a smile to my face

I'll try to get some pics up later

Finished up AAA hitting .298 with 13 Hrs 41 Rbis and got called up in my first year, and did alright. Even got the starting job for a while. During the off-season the Nats were my only contract offer, and now I'm the starting first baseman in year 2. Seems a little quick compared to most, but I'll take it.

Just finished playing in the Futures game today! It was awesome, we lost, but my pitcher (myself) went two innings allowing two hits, while striking out one. I also kept the World off the board in those two innings. I then went out my next start and blanked the Louisville Bats in a five hitter. On a sad note I've been traded twice as a player in the White Sox organization. I was traded straight up for Mark Ellis and at an earlier time to the Nationals. I reset my PS3 after both times because my goal is to make it as a White Sox player before I move onto signing with hopefully the Pittsburgh Pirates and leading them to a World Series Title.

And now I have found my true worth to the s**** A.I. White Sox. I was traded with Gordon Beckham to the Marlins for Omar Infante. WTF! I got moved from a team one game out of a playoff spot to a team 6 games back in the Wild Card and playing for the worst AAA team. Cool, looks like I'll live in AAA for the rest of this season.

Yeah, the White Sox aren't very smart with their young players in this game.

Viciedo was also on the block along with Gordon and I. All of us had A potential.

                          I need some help.

I was a great hitter at all levels before getting called up. I hit .392 in AA and .299 in AAA.

Now in the Major Leagues I'm terrible. I was a September call-up my first year and did okay. Hit about .230 something. Now in my first year as a full starter I'm absolutely pathetic and I admit it.

I'm hitting .181 with 6 HR's and 19 RBI's in the 3 hole for my Nationals. I'm halfway through the month of May too. It's really sad.

                          Any adivce from you guys?

Thought I'd share something small but a tad annoying.
Ive wanted the number 21 when I goto KC Carlos Quentin was there with 21 ok no big deal.
I still had 21 as my preffered number through the offseason Quentin is now #28 Im still #27 and some rookie is #21? how does that make ANY sense? Im the highest ranked player on my team as well - WEAK.

not a big deal but it sure is annoying...

When u reach the majors the pitching is very different you have to typically make sure you youre making the pitcher come to you alot of the time by getting in 2-0 and 3-1 counts.
Take pitches if its a difficult thing for u to do close your eyes, pay attention if there are runners on, if there are either he walked them and has lost control (take 1st pitch) or hes throwing meatballs in which case swing freely, especially if theres 2 on. Chances are hes throwing strikes but getting hit hard.
Bottom line try and out think the CPU and learn to take more pitches also boost your Clutch and Visual ratings (dumb I know)

Hi guys...been visiting this site a couple weeks now and finally joined.

Anyways, my guy is a SP. Got drafted by the Jays. I flat-out dominated AA. Got a loss out of the pen in the very beginning off of am unearned run. Started to be a starter after about 7 appearances...went 11-0 with 8 CG and 7 SHO....had about a 0.45 ERA. Got bored of AA so I started simming and I ended up 15-3 with a 1.38. Led the league in wins, win%, Ks, CGs, and SHOs. When the playoffs started of year 1, I was called up to AAA. I made 1 scoreless inning of relief and we lost in the championship game.
In the offseason I signed a 1yr/5.5M deal with the Jays to be a AAA starter. I then had a pretty strong spring and ended up in the MLB bullpen to start year 2! Anyways...made 2 scoreless innings of relief against the Yanks, then faced the Mariners. Gave up my first ever HR to Smoak...a solo shot to RF. :| Then I came in in the 8th in a tie ballgame @ Fenway. Pitched 3 full innings of scoreless relief and then gave up a walk-off, 2-run HR over the monster to Pedroia. Ugh!

All in all I still only have a 2.00 ERA, but the big leagues are tough! My stuff is dominant (98-100 RFB, 92-97 CUT, 87 SPL, 76 KCV) but I guess my HR/9 needs some work!!
